RE: 2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

Oh,wonderful, I must have misread my own research. Yes the engine and transmission is the part I'm concerned about. That warranty is transferable too so that is good news too. I'm beginning to feel better about this truck due to all of your comments and friends I've been talking to also. Thank you.

Shower drain clog.

The water in our shower drains slowly. By the time our shower is over we are standing in water. We think it must be a hair clog just because we don't what else would cause it. Our question is what should we do to fix it.

RE: 2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

Well I just found online that the warranty is only 3 years or 36,000 miles. So there is no warranty to transfer.

RE: 2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

Are those factory warranties transferable to the next winner? If they are, that would be wonderful and easy my mind considerably.

RE: 2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

The truck had 63,000 miles and looks like new. I would also like some verification that regular, preventative maintenance was performed, but the carfax shows none at all. So some sort of prepurchase inspection seems like the best option, however the truck is at the local Ford garage now so who, other than the Ford dealer, could I get to do the inspecting?

RE: 2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

Yes, you can have the truck sent to a local Ford dealer (or any other place you choose) for a presale inspection. In fact, I did that several years ago myself when I bought a 2010 F450 from a big used car dealer near Galveston. The inspection found several things that needed attention, and I used that information for leverage in the sale. But, (there’s always a “but”) the owner of the truck may want you to put down a deposit to take it off the lot, and if the inspection makes you back out of the sale you could lose the deposit. If the owner is an individual rather than a dealer, he may not even ask for a deposit. I would ask for one, if it was my truck. In my case since I wasn’t local, I wasn’t going to fly down without having the truck inspected first. It all worked out ok. I kept the truck for 3-4 years, and used it as a trade in on my current truck. :):)

2017 F350 6.7. Inspection?

We are buying a 2017 F350 with the 6.7 diesel near Houston, TX. Is there any way to get this vehicle inspected before we buy? The carfax on this vehicle shows no maintenance. So either the previous owner did preventative maintenance himself, or he didn't do it. The vehicle looks like new in cosmetic condition, so it appears the previous owner took good care of it. However, that doesn't mean he changed the oil and filters regularly. I'm new to diesel engines, this is my first one. What do I need to look for when I take this vehicle for a test drive?

RE: DRW vs SRW

Thanks everyone. We appreciate ALL of your comments very much. Pretty sure we are good to go here. Next truck will be a DRW!

DRW vs SRW

We are close to buying a F350, 6.7 to pull a 5th wheel that weighs 12,650 empty. I'm guessing it weighs close to 14,000 lbs. once we are loaded and ready to travel, but we haven't weighed it yet. Currently, we have a SRW, F350. But we are wondering about DRW trucks and whether or not that would be a benefit, or how much of a benefit. Please tell us what you think are the pros and cons of DRW trucks, what weight of trailer would cause you to use DRWs etc.

Thanks, everyone. Your comments contain a wealth of information that will help us out.

f350, 6.7

I've heard that the 6.7 is a very good engine. I've also heard that this engine first appeared in pickups in 2012. And that there were some issues with that engine up until 2016. And since then, all the major problems have been solved. 1. Is all that true? 2. What is the first year pickup with the 6.7 would you buy, that you believe would be problem-free? Any other related comments appreciated.

New used truck

Today we test drove a 2017 Ford F350 6.7, CC,LB, DRW 4X4 KING RANCH. We currently have a 2004 F350 V10 CC LB 4X4 SRW XLT. With 13 years of technology advancements between these two trucks, I was expecting the 2017 to ride smoother, quieter and with more power. It had more power for sure, but the 04 was much smoother and quieter. And lastly, the ride of the 2017 was stiff and rough compared to the 04. Is this the ride of all DRW trucks? If we looked at a 2017 SRW F350, would it ride similar to our 04?

Living Room Ceiling Lights

We have a 369RL Solitude and some of the 4-5 inch diameter round ceiling lights that, are rather flat, are burning out. We want to purchase some new bulbs, probably LED, and replace the old ones. However, when I tried to pull the lens off the light fixture to get at the bulb the entire light receptacle pulled down and out of the ceiling. But, the lense did not separate from the fixture. So that is my question; how do I get the lense off the light fixture so I can replace the bulb?

RE: New used truck

Logically speaking reducing tire pressure would make for a softer ride. However, the tires on the 04 are all set at 80 psi. The dually in comparison felt like the axles were welded to the frame, incredibly stiff and rough. It was the first dually I have driven so I wasn't expecting such a stiff ride. Is there any way to soften the ride of a dually truck?

RE: 5th wheel hitches

The new (for us) truck will be a 2017 Ford F350 6.7 SD, CC, LB, 4X4, 4.10 King Ranch. I would assume it has the puck system.

5th wheel hitches

We are about to buy a newer truck. It will be a 2017 F350. We'll be pulling a Solitude which weighs about 12,650 lbs. empty. What hitch would you recommend for that setup?

RE: Ice on roof

Thanks for your thoughtful replies. I think I was trying to avoid climbing up on the roof while it was slippery etc. But I did climb up there and as it turns out there were 2-3 inches of snow up there when the ice landed. So, the rather thin layer of ice was on top of the snow. Once I was up there, I walked all over the entire roof in baby steps and with each step, the ice broke loose, Once that was complete I could sweep it off. So, we are good to go.

Ice on roof

We are preparing to head south from Minnesota in the next few days. The roof of our 5er has ice and snow on it. The snow will obviously blow off quickly, but we're concerned about the ice. Lately we have had rain, sleet and snow almost at the same time. It looks to be an inch or more thick. As we drive into warmer temperatures, sooner or later it will all come off the roof. What have you all done to avoid that ice flying off and hurting someone?

Near Brownsville, Texas

We heard that a couple was murdered near Brownsville by some people who wanted their truck. Does anyone know if this is an ongoing problem etc.
