RE: Need help replacing charging circuit solenoid.

So with the rocker, you can push MOM and now the solenoid closes, then you turn the key to "Start" and instead of the solenoid opening as when powered from the engine battery, it stays closed from being powered by the house battery? So you should turn off the heater fan etc yourself to reduce the total drain on the house when starting? Pretty much. Think of it this way - the solenoid has two power sources 1) chassis battery and 2) house battery. The rocker switch connects the house battery to the solenoid and is generally only used when the chassis battery is depleted and can't start the vehicle.

RE: Medicare ads!!!!!

Seems like they have been replaced with endless Liberty Mutual/State Farm/Allstate ads in the Portland Area.

RE: Portland Oregon Parks question

We stayed here a couple of times years ago. It definitely had long-term residents. Well kept, and a nice place. Fairview Haven't stayed there but if I worked at the airport and was looking for a home base for house hunting this looks like a good choice - seems like it gets good reviews.

RE: 2006 winnebago adventure fresh water drain valve leaking

I don't have your rig but drain valves sometimes leak but they tend to be generic and easy to replace.

RE: Kirkland motor oil

I have sold private label products for many years and there is no way that Costco/Walmart or any of the other major retailers are going to sell a private label product that doesn't meet or exceed the quality specs of the major brands. Same product that came out of my factory had multiple labels - prices/advertising budgets varied but the product was essentially the same. Think about it - big retailer has significant leverage on mfg and there is no way he is going to put his name on product if he has exposure.

RE: Need help replacing charging circuit solenoid.

The momentary switch is for temporary tying system together for emergency start. The dual function is for charging the batteries. Yes, I understood that much previously. But I thought there was some special or separate circuit for ganging the batteries together for charging vs. for boost. If I understand correctly now, both ways the batteries are ganged together the exact same way. The only difference is how the solenoid is switched on. In the Dual position, the solenoid is only energized if the ignition is on. This way the batteries will not be ganged together if the engine is off, so your chassis battery cannot be depleted by running house things. In the Momentary position, the solenoid is energized from the house bank, whether the ignition is on or off. But in either case, the effect is to gang both batteries together. The only difference is which power source energizes the solenoid. Does that sound correct? Steve Yep - the momentary switch is powered by the house battery

RE: Need help replacing charging circuit solenoid.

Think that a simple battery isolator solenoid - if so the inexpensive continuous duty solenoid offered by Amazon should work fine (mine has been working fine for 10+ yrs). With that said - I am unclear on why a battery isolator solenoid has anything to do with your original problem of voltage dropping.

Google "auto reset circuit breaker" - doesn't look much like a fuse/breaker and easy to overlook. If you discover one check for continuity.

RE: Camper damage due to being serviced at that dealer

If someone hit my rig I would likely call my insurance company - and that goes double if it was RV shop that told me they damaged my rig and would keep it the entire winter to fix it.

RE: New House Batteries, Converter Beeping?

Next time you store the rig make sure the batteries are fully charged and then disconnect them from the rig (both house and chassis) - should help insure you don't have dead batteries when your start up the rig in the spring.

RE: melting plug

Also - when you replace the plug are you making sure you cut back the wire so that you eliminate any of the damaged/brittle wire?

RE: "Leather" coming apart and peeling

Real leather doesn't peel - you have bonded leather and cheap bonded leather at that. Pretty common problem and some mfg may help if you complain long/hard - but don't count on it.

RE: Low Water Pressure

Pressure is low on hot and cold. 5er is set up for stationary use. haven't used pump in a while. Just to help isolate the problem you might consider disconnecting the shore water and turning on the internal pump. If you do that you might consider checking outside and seeing if water if flowing out the connecting valve for shore water.

RE: It could have went bad!

When newbie I didn't know that stopping an RV is tougher than getting it to go fast. Didn't end up hitting/hurting anybody but did have to change my underwear.

RE: washer/dryer

As long as you have enough water and gray water tank capacity I don't see a issue. They have had laundry machines on sailboats for a long time so I don't see movement as an issue.

RE: Low Water Pressure

Is low pressure issue on both cold/hot water - and is low pressure problem the same when you use pump vs outside water?

RE: Android Tablet Question

On my tablet there is a 3 dot icon at the top of the screen and if you use that and press "edit" then all the files on the screen get assigned a box and if you check the box(s) on the file(s) you want deleted then your press delete.

RE: Foot pedal spring, Thetford Aqua Magic 2

:) Hi, if a man put it together, then a man should be able to put it back together. Need to figure out how it was installed in the first place. My guess would be special machine/tool that cost way more than $80. Toilet is essential in RV and if you can fix something essential for $80 then that's what I would recommend.
