RE: Loud vibrating furnance

Maybe a mud dauber building nest - check/clean fan blades.

RE: water tank vent

My air vent exit hole is next to the larger water fill cap. Location may vary depending on the rig. Yours maybe kinked.

RE: Damaged water pump intake strainer cup.

I had one fog up badly, I blamed it on the bleach used for sanitizing. Been using bleach for 30 years and haven't had that - maybe calcium/crud in the water. Just a guess.

RE: Keep blowing capacitor inside converter

Converters aren't that expensive and they are relatively easy to replace (ie DIY). You might consider just replacing the converter. (lots of thread/youtubes etc). Just my 02.

RE: Any of you guys winterizing with air only?

I use air and dump af into p traps. Works well for me and allows me to take advantage of the few breaks in weather we get in NW during the winter. When you use air you need to take a little extra effort to insure that toilet valve gets properly cleared - no big deal.

RE: “I was shocked with just how white it was there,” she said.

Never been asked my race when camping - I wonder how KOA got their statistics?

RE: Steps don't stay out/shade won't go all the way down

I would check all of the batteries (chassis and coach) and test whether the battery isolator is functioning correctly. In many rigs the steps are powered by the chassis battery - in my rig I switched that over to the coach batteries to lessen/mitigate chance of being stranded with dead engine.

RE: Anode rod necessary ?

Kind of depends on the maker of your heater. If an Atwood, then no anode rod is necessary. If a Suburban, then I would use use one because eventually the inside will corrode due to the water being present, even if only part time. The one that comes with the Suburban should last quite a long time though. Just inspect it when you pull it out to drain the heater. When it gets to looking like a rough piece of thin pencil then replace it. Barney x2.

RE: Generator not powering motorhome

Another possibility - check the generator circuit breakers if those breakers have triggered the generator will run but won't provide electricity.

RE: Dometic refrigerator shuts off during the night on 50 amp

Google Dinosaur control boards - it's an outfit that makes better quality/lower cost replacement circuit boards. Go to there website and in their customer service section there are PDF file files which will provide diagnostic tips to help determine whether you need to replace boards. My guess is that you have either loose wire or quirky circuit board.

RE: OREGON STATE PARKS RANT

I appreciate your sentiment. But I suspect Oregon is closing sections/loops of many State Parks starting around November. McIver isn't that popular and it's one of the largest Parks I have ever visited - the cost of maintaining the entire park has to be enormous - my guess is that total closure is the most cost effective thing. When I visited MM last year in Sept it was almost empty for 3 days straight. Milo McIver is actually a small Park in the OPRD system with about 50 sites. The largest park in the system is Ft. Stevens with over 500 sites. Parks in the Valley and gorge get extreme weather and for their size are costly to operate. Many of the coastal parks keep at least half their sites open year around. Understand after Labor Day weekday camping drops off considerably, keeping staff needed for weekends is costly, so some parks close and some parks close part of the loops to run with reduced staff. The two parks near Newport open all RV loops for the weekend of Seafood and Wine Festival in February. I agree that Milo has a small RV park but I interpreted the OP as saying they closed the entire park ... the RV section is a very tiny portion of a the Park. MM is very large park and so large it's common to run into people hiking who are lost.

RE: Dometic refrigerator shuts off during the night on 50 amp

The fridge electronics and lights operate on DC. When hooked to shore power or running the generator your fridge can operate on AC (the AC used exclusively to power the heating element). Query - are you hooked up to shore power when experiencing problems? And what settings are you using on fridge (auto or gas). The "check light" implies that your fridge has failed to ignite propane and you normally won't see that if your connected to shore power assuming you have the auto setting on the fridge. The lights dying after a few seconds would imply DC power issue .... have you had your batteries checked?

RE: Replace GENERAC generator in a Gulfstream

I was hoping to find something cheaper but I guess that word doesn't exist in the RV world.. Cheaper does exist - repairing/replacing carburetor vs replacing a generator which would cost BIG bucks.

RE: Replace GENERAC generator in a Gulfstream

Agree with others - new generator will be expensive and probably PIA to install - much easier to fix current carb. When I have generator issues I take my rig down to big rig truck dealer - all those refrigerated trucks have reefers/generators and those guys get pretty good at repairing generators. Just a thought.

Getting stuff into RV is tough - removing just require a saw.

RE: Some poor fellas waste tank broke!

I always empty my Black/Gray tanks whenever possible - I don't want the weight and over the years I have had to repair broken tank straps. I recommend everyone check the straps annually - they can break and sometimes the break is hard to notice.

RE: I didn't buy an RV

If you think RV crowd is "aloof" then you camp in places I haven't. Maybe you should stick with boats.

RE: water valve

Sounds like you need to replace the valve - I have watched at least one youtube demonstrating how to do that - you may need to have some pex tools.

RE: Thermo-Panel Separation

I had something similar and after talking with West Marine (boats have plenty of delam issues) decided to go with a medium cure epoxy (forgot which one) and held the side in with a DIY setup. I drilled a couple of holes and used a large syringe to inject. The epoxy was sanded flush with exterior and I used a dab of touch up paint to cover the holes. At any rate - consider talking with boat shop about your problem - they may have more specific suggestions. Hope this helps.
