RE: Refinancing an RV

If it were me I would just pick up the phone and call my lender ... and then shop around? Also - with soft economy the rates may decline further and if your credit rating is good you maybe better off waiting a bit.

RE: Adding an hour meter to a portable generator

Thanks - nice video.

RE: 20 year loan for RV?

Your can buy newer RV with long payback periods ... but the interest rate will likely be higher than you expect. If it were me I would prefer to buy a 10+ year well maintained low mileage RV that has already almost bottomed out on the depreciation curve. Of course you will have to pay cash or find creative financing.

RE: Neat Supermarket Health Tip

Good idea - thanks. Additionally, I have found that arriving when the store opens means a clean store with fewer people - and occasionally some of the harder to find items are stocked.

RE: Leaking antenna fix

As someone mentioned - the Winegard antenna has a gasket that wears out - it's super thin and is suppose to be lubed on regular basis (few bother). I replaced mine once - forget the particulars but Winegard has "how to" on there website. As far as the moisture - do what it takes to dry that area out and it would not hurt to spray the area with mold killer sold at most big boxes.

RE: The danger of self-isolating from COVID-19 on public lands

You can't fix stupid. The picture of all those guys crowding next to each other to take a pic says it all.

RE: Interesting times to be shopping for my new truck camper

There is no way I would pull the trigger on any major purchase right now - prices are going to soften on almost all big ticket items.

RE: Sagging ceiling in holiday rambler next level

You can always call around to auto upholstery shops who replace headliners and get there thoughts on how much and how to fix. I once had a old audi with sagging gray headliner - I just used long thumb tacks which I spray painted gray - worked fine until I sold the car.

RE: Bad Time To Sell RV?

I suspect the price of RV's and homes (and probably most big ticket items) are going to drop until job security gets re-established.

RE: What to do this spring

Oregon State Campground closures might make finding good camping spot more difficult. I usually used the State Campgrounds because they were larger/private than typical private campground which I avoided even b4 the virus.

Over $3 in Portland Oregon. Go figure.

RE: Oregon State Parks to close April 3rd thru May 8th

Thanks for the heads up. I had been checking to see if anyone cancelled their reservations at Beverly Beach but looks like I don't need to do that anymore.

RE: Looks like the Canadian border is CLOSED.

My breaking news app says that USA/Canada have agreed to close the border except for trade/commerce and "essential travel". That seems to rule out std RV trips.

RE: annual snowbird trip home

May depend on what State your currently in. I listened to a speech by the Governor of Florida and Florida seemed to be light years ahead of Oregon.

RE: Water freeze risk?

You should not have a problem. Takes many hours of below freezing to create problems and most of those problems are associated with toilet valves which are fragile not the FW tank. I live in Portland and blow out my water lines during winter but usually maintain water in FW tank for emergency purposes ... never had a problem.

RE: LP Detector 12v vs 120v Price ?

Unscrewed it and on the back (no date on the front of course) it says it was made in 2007 by CCI Controls. Somewhat past the five year mark! :( Remember that those old CCI Control propane detectors also controlled a shutoff solenoid for the propane. If that CCI goes totally toes up it will shut off your solenoid leaving you w/o propane. If you replace the CCI detector chances are your going to have to remove the existing solenoid. Some people have had luck restoring CCI propane detection by using hair dryer on the unit.

RE: Anyone use a Solo Stove

Smaller ones are very popular with backpackers/bikers etc - there kinda spendy but get great reviews.

RE: Sagging headliner

I would be concerned that you have a leak vs just age. I have had car headliners sag but usually ten years older than your rig. I would make some calls to auto upholstery outfits and discuss whether they fix sagging liners and have any experience with RV's.
