RE: Auxiliary Tank Combo

measure the tank in inches and times the width and the height and length and divide by 231. Gallons will be the answer.

RE: Why do I need a W/D or sway control

I guess if a fella was thinking a lot to hit the trailer brakes if something happens his brain will come alive and MIGHT be ok. I have done this for different scenarios of what could happen and know it helps. be safe chevman

RE: Getting propane tanks in and out

On my Dads new to him 5er you had to lift the tanks "UP" and out of the steel ring or try to release the latching system and bend the steel horizontal ring out of the way so you could tip it out instead of lifting. .
So I put my "creative genius" ;) to work and cut off the latching system and added a strap that can be tightened. Works GREAT with releasing the strap and tipping the tank out and grabbing the bottom to easily carry it to the truck. I added a wood block to keep from damaging the aluminum door frame at the bottom. The block also keeps the tank base locked in place.

I didn't like the factory setup either so because of sitting for 6 months I removed the clamps but installed them for the trip home.

Leave it connected to the 5th wheel hitch but disconnect the 7 pin cord. I drop jacks as needed to stabilize or level.

RE: Tire exploded in Florida

We always had plywood under our trailer tires when it is parked. last trailer also expect for the last few days we had it in our driveway. Our chev will be on plywood for the winter also.
chevman
Honest question, WHY? I read years ago dirt or concrete sucks the moisture from the tires so that is my answer. never had any tires issues . chevman

RE: Poly Glow.

we used poly glow for many years on our alpenlite. Many comments on how great it looked. Because we had a green decal and a brown decal the best trick is to apply the poly with the length of the decal and just one wipe . This will
stop the bleeding as you continue. Awesome result for us. chevman

RE: Remember to keep alert while driving..

We had a near death experience coming home on 93 in Nv this trip that is our last and almost was. following a semi that was wandering I decided to not pass because we were going 60 mph, soon the line up behind us was growing with MH trailers and semi's. so keeping a nice distance from the truck ahead and looked behind to see the last truck inline starting to pass. At that time I let up on the throttle to make out distance longer but soon It seemed to not be enough and hit the brakes and the passing semi was going around the truck in front of us. when he hit his brake and his truck went to the right I was on the brakes hoping the folks behind us saw what was happening. Just as the passing semi pulled over the semi that was coming toward us just passed within inches or a foot or two. So I feel I was alert to what was happening. chevman

RE: Wobble Stoppers?

Yes, toss the tripod. If you install a set of strong arms, you can go to regular wheel chocks because the X-chocks won't be adding any stabilities at all. Depending on the length, you may want to even add crank down stabilizers next to the axles.
We did what you said on our alpenlite because the wife sat above the wheels and did needle work so a set of scissors jacks in front of the wheels fixed the issue but later added the Jt's for sitting the 6 months in Az. Nice to have the stable fifth when the wind blows hard.

RE: '22 Powerstroke seems a little thirstier than the '21 was.

the fuel meter was perfect on our 05 because it was dead on with the math and the fuel used but in 09 the cluster gears went out in the speedometer and after the repair that was a recall it was not accurate even after some flash at the dealer but it was very close. Our equinox is right on. chevman

RE: Cummins 6.7L Gasoline Engine in a Ram?

My question who would buy such an expensive Gas Engine???
With today's prices, I am not surprised anymore on what people will pay for stuff. Many will lay down $11k to go from a base trim package to a premium without batting an eye.
Although I don't think this would be nearly as expensive as the Cummins diesel. You would not need a lot of the emissions equipment which would reduce a lot of cost and weight. You would also not need iron heads, a VG turbo, as large of an EGR and fuels system. So there could be a lot of cost and weight savings in a gas version.
good to have you back shiner. chevman

RE: stuck dump valve

on my 2019 reflection the black tank valve is stuck closed, there is nothing in the tank except the a few cups of water and plumbing antifreeze from dewinterizing yesterday, but the valve does not move at all, anyone know a way without opening up the underbelly to get this freed up?
My story might be different than what you have but on our 2001 alpenlite and after a few winters in Az the rod was getting very hard to pull and push so after emptying the black tank I poured cooking oil in the toilet and let it sit over night and then it worked perfect. had to do every couple of years. Might give it a try. Bottles have gotten smaller so maybe more is better. chevman

RE: Broken Leaf Spring

We needed a new spring on our Alpenlite. the spring had a wrap that was soft metal, so it was easy to bend and remove. The code stamped on it that told everything needed to order a new spring. It was something like A22 on ours.
