RE: Bearings and bad decisions......

We do our bearings every year and that will be Sept 3rd this time. Never had the brakes changed because of nothing needed but who knows this might be the time. chevman

RE: 2020 GMC Towing Leader

I think our simple dash on the 05 is still the best. Simple for a simple feller. we also have an 2018 suv so I have knowledge on not simple. chevman

RE: What options?

Full Body Paint. Is it really worth the 10k additional cost? When the rig is well north of 100k I feel it is. Add another $4000.00 if it was a paint job on an older fifth. Next door last winter spent $15000.00 to paint their 2010 carriage fifth. It looked beautiful. chevman

RE: I drove a 2020 Silverado D/A 3500HD today

I bought a step that folds up and fits into the hitch receiver that has USA on the face and still works great. Bought it for the 2001 truck. Of course the higher trucks would make the step too high . chevman

RE: I drove a 2020 Silverado D/A 3500HD today

Fish does your post mean you are a girly man now in your advanced age. I like how a truck will drive more than what ever the front looks like because I had a Ram once and it had a grill that I really didn't feel was awesome but driving the truck I couldn't see it so it didn't matter. I know you are not a girly man. chevman

RE: Dish & Wally Receiver

After not using our satellite and wally it did not work. Called dish and it showed we didn't have an update. One hour later the tv came on just as the tech said. I guess being off for over one month is the reason for not getting the update. I didn't have good luck with the tailgater so it sits in the garage. chevman

RE: When replacing tow vehicle, do you.....

We ordered our current truck in Az and had the dealer change the hitch to this truck. the story was we had to have new parts as it was illegal for them to installed used rails. True or false it was how it was so new rails happened. But no pins were installed . I sensed something was not right and lifted the hitch up. Good call as it was getting dark. After 3 or 4 winter going south we had a problem and 2 pins that hold the hitch head were missing. 3400 lbs of pin weight was what was holding it from coming off. Then my mind saw the old truck with 6 pins on the bed when we had them install the 4 pins. It was a weird thing how it happened for us to know this as the 2 pins did not show. So give you truck a good inspection. chevman

RE: Tow/Haul off or on(ram)

I use tow mode when we tow. neighbor has a 2008 ram 5500 and a new just bought a 2019 5500. He can't tell any difference on the 08 towing or not and solo driving on the trip home same story but not towing. I don't understand why not. chevman

RE: Ram 2500 rough ride question

I rode in a brand new Ramm 5500 flat bed today. Very quiet and smooth running engine and of course very stiff as it needs to be for his tractor and trailer work. chevman

RE: Where's the 2020 Ram HD?

"They will weigh them down and see what happens." YES all equal trucks towing the exact same 35k will be nice to see how they perform. RAM should be the big looser with the OLD SCHOOL trans! I don't call most truck test a winner or loser. Just different. chevman

RE: Fifth-Wheel Longevity?

We feel our air hitch and air on the fifth suspension helps for longer life of the alpenlite. chevman

RE: Fifth-Wheel Longevity?

We have used ouur 2001 35 ft alpenlite for 6 months each winter with a few long trips before arriving and again this october. Maintenance is the key for us and having a quality rv with good care is how we feel about ours. chevman

RE: Power Gear slide sticking

Howard have you looked when the slide is in to see how it fits for a lower or higher space to see if it lookes even. That could be a reason for one corner to hang up. If so not hard to adjust. chevman
