RE: Dometic issue

The fridge is a 12 ft double door and this fifth was used on one trip of 1000 miles. I don't think he did anything. 4 fans are noisy. chevman

RE: Dometic issue

Doug it looks like what you said is the way we have. 4 cooling fans below the fins and the air is directed to blow up the fins and then out the top . the fridge is 39 degrees and is empty the freezer is 13 degrees with some frozen food in the freezer. We have cooler temperature's now under 100. Chevman

RE: Dometic issue

More information and thanks for all the comments. We are home and the fifth is sitting headed north but the scrubs on the drivers side are higher than the fifh so shade on that side until the sun changes to expose the back and soon the shade from the tall scrubs has that side in the shade, Fridge in the slide and has cooling fans that scream but didn't seem to hear them during the time the fridge was warm and no food in the fridge but frozen food in the freezer. Freezer is 10 degrees and the fridge is 40 at this time of 7:pm Thermistor is not attached to a fin and doesn't show as what we have had in the past rv's. Trailer is sitting level. the 30 amp power has gone out before the issue but have a 20 amp heavy cord powering the trailer and just the fridge is running on that. I feel it might be ok but we will head south again this September. chevman

Dometic issue

Temperature was 115 for 3 days and the fridge stopped cooling but the freezer was working ok. Now after the big heat has gone the fridge is working again. Local rv store felt the issue was overheating and is going to see if the cooling unit needs to be replaced. This is something we have never experience before and have been rving since 1996. But never this hot. Dometic 12 ft. 2019 fifth but used one trip. Probably will get it tested . Anybody experienced this issue? chevman

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

I have a 2005 LLY duramax towing a 13,000 solitude fifth wheel. I get between 11-12 towing between 65 and 70 mph, And I'm not full of sh____ lol We had an almost 15000 lb alpenlite with your same truck and many times the mileage was same as you tell. Usually towed at 62 MPH math and DIC until the speedometer needed work and it was accurate after the repair. chevman

RE: New Truck!!

I have an almost new B&W hitch for a ford that was given to me when we bought a fifth from this ford couple. I feel it would be awesome but not wanting to change to a ford when we have our air hitch that is so smooth. chevman

RE: When to change oil

I change our Duramax's oil when this 80 year old body tells me and that time is very close. Once a year usually less than 7000 miles. Only drive it in the winter in Az for the 6 months we are there. Missed this last season but just maybe again this late September we hit the road. chevman

RE: The Home Depot is my new Amazon

Recently I needed some stain for my fence. I could drive 10 miles to HD and pay $29.99 for a gallon…. Or, have then deliver it to my door 2 day later for no additional cost. Which way should I go  :? I would drive 10 miles and pick up the stain. If you go in person you know what you are getting and not something picked/shipped by a new employee who thinks all stains are the same. What? If I order a gallon of CWF someone will send me a gallon of ACE Wood Royal? Come on man lol. I have gotten what I have ordered 100% of the time no matter if it's paint or a pair of underwear. If you order underwear, make sure you specify no one is wearing them. How could anybody order underwear? Man or women is not allowed? chevman

RE: Disappointing article- GM updates!

We had a Ram once and didn't like that front end and really not a fan of the latest ram front ends that really have not changed much but soon after driving our truck the grill didn't show from the steering wheel and no more even giving it a thought. chevman

RE: intermittent brakes

Replace all the splices, wiring never fails in the middle, always at the connections. I have checked everything visible and I can't see anything that looks like it would be a problem. I have heard of insulation wearing off inside the axles over time. It might not be my problem but I think that I will pull new wires thru and then I will know. We had that issue and it was 2" of bare wire in the axle tube. chevman

RE: 3.31 gears at 40,000 lbs gross.

When we tow up a mountain our truck wants to keep pulling but I feel better going to 4th gear and let the engine run more RPM's. not the same truck as the posts are telling about but have not had any driveline issues on any towing truck we have had. chevman

We only drive our dually in the winter seasons for 6 months a year when we tow to AZ and both of us cannot imagine us having a SRW truck. Missed the trip for the 2020 2021 seasons but going south again and will enjoying the fat rear end. chevman

RE: Rv-ers prefer Duramax?

Cummins12v98 your Ram would look a lot better with an Indian on the trailer.....just sayin. perhaps a Ducati? IMO one of the best sounding bikes made. Too much bike for my skill level though. I was thinking an old Honda 90 trailer bike would be safer for Ron. chevman

RE: Rv-ers prefer Duramax?

I want to get a better picture it was getting dark for this picture. Biggest issue is can we fill the large fridge without grinning from ear to ear. After 2 winters of Hospitals and nursing home we need to be very careful. Nice to be home this winter and it was the best in my 80 years for weather. Chevman. Thanks for posting the picture Ron

RE: Rv-ers prefer Duramax?

We just finished a week towing and our 05 has towed what we have great. Best truck we have had. 113K miles. Back in a fifth for the coming winter season again. chevman Post a new thread showing your new toy. I was privileged to pics already. ;) the fifth is getting DE winterized Tuesday and the seller will deliver it to our home. He is leaving his B&W hitch that fits a Ford puke system so that will be living beside the truck as the airhitch gets reinstalled in June. this 2019 Rockwood has a brand new look. I have not been able to make a picture on the forum for a long time but have tried . We will miss the alpenlite because it like our 05 truck "simple to operate" 80 year old folks like simple. I will try to send the picture. chevman

RE: 5th Wheel entry steps

What do you do?? My last 5er had the entry steps fold under the rig. So when stopping at a truck stop, rest area, cracker barrel etc. I would just leave the steps folded under the rig & use a step stool to get into the rig, then lift the step stool into the rig. Leaving nothing extended from the rig. Now my new 5th wheel has the steps that lift up into the door way. Do you leave the steps down, as they do extend away from the 5er. Don't want someone to pull in beside and hit the steps, but also if you put a rope on the steps & lift them up and into the door way, if someone pulls close to you, you can not get the steps down to exit the rig.. Not our favorite style of steps for the same thinking you have. chevman
