RE: Campground near Dinosaur State Park Connecticut

We like Dinosaur State Park - not a huge attraction - but interesting for an hour or 2. Bear Creek Campground in Bristol, CT at Lake Compounce is only about a 1/2 hour from there. Haven't stayed there yet...

RE: Recommended Tow Set-Ups (Brands) for the Toad

x3 for ReadyBrute! Over 30k miles towing a Suby Forester ~3200#. Actually lighter weight setup and less costly than many others, in addition to simply working!

RE: Chaco canyon NP in NM ?'s

One day isn't enough to fully appreciate Chaco. 21 miles of gravel - 1st 7 are good, 2nd 7 ok, 3rd 7 plan on slow going (10-15mph). We spent 4 nights in there last year - could have stayed longer! I'd hate to make the drive in and out in a single day, wouldn't allow enough time to see backcountry sites or the nighttime astronomy presentation.

RE: Roadside Assistance Question

same answer as on other forum.... Look at the additional benefits FMCA gives you - especially the FMCAssist to get you home...

RE: Hard time finding a short full mattress.

look at www.foambymail.com - you can buy a full sheet of foam - they sell different densities and thicknesses. Comes compressed and rolled - easy to cut with an electric knife to any size/shape you need. Can create your own mattress by layering different types of foam. Have used them for the past 2 rigs - very pleased.

RE: Northern Vermont to Maine

Rte 2 across NH and ME is just fine. Catherdral Pines? Stayed there - Rte 27 north from Rte 2 up thru Carrabassett Valley should be fine. Neither are high speed routes - enjoy the ride!

RE: Nashville, TN

Hi VE, etc... Slightly off your conversation - we just stayed at Seven Points in May. Nice CG. Now drag a toad behind the B+, since we traded in the Roadtrek 4 years ago, so didn't have the issue you did. Easy ride into Nashville from the COE. You might want to check out parking at Nissan Stadium. LARGE parking lot, footpath/bridge right into downtown Nashville - supposedly free - plenty of room for the RT from what we could see. Also large parking lot at Grand Old Opry - again no issue for RT. Hope this helps!

RE: Gas Mileage Winnebago View / Itasca Navion

Same M/B chassis under my Prism B+, I get 15-15.5 pulling the toad, about 16.5+ without the tow.

RE: Best motor oil for MB Sprinter diesel engine

Funny how many of these comments come from those who DON'T drive a Sprinter... For my 2015 I have been using Mobil 1 that meets the 229.52 spec. Road-runner's comments are correct re: DPF. Just sayin'...

RE: Onan MicroLite 2800

Yes, there's a fuel filter. I had a 2800 on my 03 Roadtrek Popular. IIRC, it was pretty obvious when you removed the front access door. Can't recall exactly how I did it, but compared to other projects I don't recall it being horrendous. Mine I believe had the usual black spring steel type hose clamps that you release by squeezing with pliers. ST

Appreciate the update! Not sure if I'm willing to try it again!!! Been bad for soooo long - can't believe it's usable!

RE: Harrisburg PA to Albany NY

I'm with Dutch! From NH we head to Albany area, take 88 to Binghamton, then 81 south. Taking 87 south from Albany is $$$. Then 78 west (at least 2 years ago...) was TERRIBLE! Had to reduce speed to 45 just to keep from shaking the rig apart. Potholes, broken road surface, rough expansion joints. Unless someone has a more current report on I-78 I'd still avoid it!

RE: Branson, MO RV Parks???

x2 for Lakeside. Walking distance to Branson Landing. Been there twice - would certainly stay there again. And...it's a heck of a lot flatter than many of the other parks in the area!!!

RE: Best motor oil for MB Sprinter diesel engine

Mother Benz is VERY particular as to oil used... As stated, it will depend on year and model of your Sprinter engine.

RE: Dinghy towing with a class C Mercedes chassis

Howdy - as mentioned, you need to know what the manufacturer says it can tow, not what the hitch is rated for... Quick search seems to indicate your rig (unsure of year...) has a 5K towing capacity. We tow our 3200# Forester with our Sprinter-based Prism (we have a 3500# limit) without difficulty. Been across the Rockies, toured West Virginia hills, live in NH White Mountains. About 25K miles towing so far. make sure you have a supplemental braking system - we use ReadyBrute and have been very happy with it.
