RE: Black Tank--Borax?

We put 3 gallons of water, 1 Cup powder "20 Mule Team Borax" and 1 Cup of Calgon liquid softner. Let it swish around on the drive to the CG. Dump it and then we put more water in the Black tank before using it.

Before our trip, we put about 3 gallons of water in the black tank with a Cup of Borax powder and a Cup of Calgon liquid and let it swish around on the way to the CG.

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

No Campfires..........PLEASE post those CGs Call them out We should start an ongoing list that gets updated frequently That way I can pick which ones I will partonize cause I hate campfires! Not so much hate's just there are MORE & More inept campers that do NOT know how to have a campfire. They think smoldering/smokey is good vs an actual fire And then they go inside! YEAH.CGs with NO Campfires. I like the concept Please post the list - if you find one! Let the "camper" choose his option...:C Like OB - I'm in the "no thanks" group - been at too many campgrounds where you choke on your inconsiderate neighbor's smoke..:( ~ x2 "no thanks" Maybe a solution would be build a very large community fireplace with a chimney. Bring your chair for a group fireplace that is away from the RV's. I have seen so many people just leave unattended smoky fire pits going all day long. And WesternRVParkOwner...I agree with your policies and it is rude and inconsiderate to burn your picnic tables or destroy your property. These facilities are for us all to enjoy, not to trash at your pleasure, for your camping "experience". How would you all like to check into a Hotel where the previous occupant broke the chairs, marred the dressers, and scratched up the TV? Good grief. What happened to respecting other peoples property. Put your grill on the ground...not the owner's picnic tables! No one wants to use the picnic table that the previous, inconsiderate camper, has charred to a crisp because they are too lazy to put their grill on the ground.

RE: Campsite Sanitation - Beware

Hepatitis A is caused by a virus that infects liver cells and causes inflammation. The inflammation can affect how your liver works and cause other signs and symptoms of hepatitis A. The virus most commonly spreads when you eat or drink something contaminated with fecal matter, even just tiny amounts. It does not spread through sneezing or coughing.

RE: Campsite Sanitation - Beware

I have seen people with dogs let their dog urinate on the picnic tables and water pedastals, disgusting. We use Clorax Spray Foam Bleach on the water spigot before hooking up the hose.

RE: Mail Forwarding

It is sent to a Campground you are staying at. You figure out where you will be, then notify them to package it up and send it. Like a one time forwarding until you need your mail again.

RE: building new campground

My wife and I would GLADLY travel 8 miles to a nice, quiet and secure place for even one night. EIGHT MILES, what's that? It's a heart beat in terms of traveling hundreds during the day. Yes, we see and, have rarely stayed at, RV parks and campground that are on the other side of a fence, by an off ramp of freeway. No thanks. Campground builders can usually purchase land that close to freeways for CHEAP! And, they also know that many folks don't want to drive ANY more distance than they have to for an over nights stay. I have never heard of the "Harvest Host" program. I think it's great. The wife and I are so tired of "live-ins" at many, many of the RV parks and campgrounds we've visited. The Harvest Host program and, the OP's thoughts are very welcome to us, even for just a night. Heck, I'd drive to the OP's x-farm for just one night, as long as we're not put next to broken bicycles, broken cars, dead potted plants hanging all over etc. To be able to park, setup, and then just sit outside and relax without car noise, Jake brakes or, staring at a sewer dump hose 5' away from our chairs, is a welcome thought. Scott x2...we will travel the 8 miles for peace and quiet.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

Truth is, you need wealthy people to invest in businesses and corporations that create jobs. When you take away the incentive, jobs are lost and the system collapses (Socialism). This is the myth that has developed since the '80s. I'm reasonably sure that if there is no demand for a good or service, there will be no investment in businesses or corporations to create new jobs. Instead the try to buy existing business, merger, cut costs (Workers). While Socialism is considered a foul word, if Capitalism is not regulated by Government, or IMHO better, strong unions, the wealth will be concentrated in fewer hands until the middle class is only people that used to be rich. Hear, hear, this is a knowledgeable view. This is Keynes economic theory which Reaganomics tried to replace with trickle down – giving tax breaks for companies to invest and expand without the underlying consumer demand. We got instead bigger deficit, higher borrowings and eventually 3 recessions. Looks like history will repeat this time again. Let’s also update ourselves and not be scared-sh*tless with the word “socialism”. It’s not the 50’s or the 60’s anymore where this means Soviet Union nor Russia. The new economic-political system now refers to it as Democractic Socialism modeled by the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, etc. These countries have been surveyed to be the happiest and healthiest on earth with free college, universal healthcare, 48:1 CEO to worker pay gap (US is 354 times average worker), and comfortable social security pensions for seniors. Update yourself: Finland Government Collapse The government has collapsed over their FREE stuff. It is not FREE, they pay the high taxes for it. They are a FRACTION of the population we have in this country. It will never work here. You want "socialism"...plenty of successful (LOL) countries to go to.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

A little off topic, but not meaning to be "political", but I just don't understand why everyone thinks Pres Trump is somehow skating on his taxes. With the financial revenues this guy deals with, he would most definitely be scrutinized by the Internal Revenue Service for audits and re-audits and re-re-re audits year after year after year. If he (or his financial wizards) can find and use tax credits, loop holes, and other ways to legally use all the available tax credits to HIS advantage, AND all this is already scrutinized by the IRS, then how can ANYONE question anything about his finances. Think about it folks? The more money one makes, the more you are scrutinized by the IRS. If all your ducks are NOT in order, they will find the errors and .... BELIEVE ME, I KNOW .... they will get their due money. If they don't .... they seize your assets. I saw my in-laws go through this from a horribly failed business venture they attempted and then tried to false report their income. And a CHURCH I was attending years ago was under IRS scrutiny for the way their pastor was being paid and NOT being reported correct. They almost lost the church ... yes ... a church! So while everyone is harping about how unethical or crooked Mr. Trump is, think about it folks .... He's not crooked. Actually, he's squeeky clean, coming through year, after year, after year financial audits BY the IRS. And if the IRS is satisfied, then his business IS HIS business, not ours or anyone elses, any more than you'd want your financial shared to the public masses. Think about it. Sorry, I had to vent. This post may get deleted. I understand if it is. x2...I agree. He has Attorneys, Audits, CPA's, Accountants, Bookkeepers, and they will use every LEGAL tax code to the companies advantage, just like every company can in this country. The politicians approved of these Tax Codes and loopholes and now want to bully him, LOL. What hypocrites. The IRS will go after him if he falsified his taxes. His taxes are not anybody's business. They should be kept private. If there is a problem, the IRS will audit and go after him. That is their job. Not the job of politicians demanding those returns, and not some Joe average citizen who "thinks" they know what taxes were paid or not. They just want to tear this person apart, find any dirt they can, and continue to obstruct and harass this person. Wealthy people give billions of dollars to charity, hospitals, the arts, Churches, many charitable organizations who rely on those donations. Tax them 70% and those donations will dry up. We do not have a tax problem. We have a spending and waste problem.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

We do not have a "tax" problem. We have a spending problem and the monumental waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. Fraud in the billions every year. Trillions of dollars spent on never ending wars. OUR money that should be spent rebuilding this country and our inner-cities. And we need to stop being the ATM machine for the world. They need to stand on their own two feet, solve their problems, and prosper. We need term limits and line item veto the budget, it is out of control. Tax us all 75%...they will still overspend and now bankrupt us with the cries for "free" stuff. It is not free.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

Not meant to be political, yet the park you mention is in a state with a huge set of it's own problems. We visit Yellowstone, Grant Tetons, and Glacier often. They have a great system setup for camping, checking availability, and it seems to be working. National parks are being managed by the federal government. Be specific to the state problems and how are they related to the national park. Here is an article "state specific" and DIRECTLY related to the state problems of the very park you are griping about: What about the $61 MILLION in damages this cost the U.S. taxpayers? How about track this person down and they pay it back. Sequoia National Park Fire

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

YS1 is incapable of seeing the forest for the trees. His preferred state is also the greatest user of Federal assistance with the use/abuse of medicare funds. story It's way too easy to feel justified in an argument when you only use half the facts. 2007 data is a poor excuse, and the use of federal money for subsidizing people who should not even be here takes the other numbers over the line. Lets take care of all Americans, and with many, lets have the ones who cant work otherwise, help with assistance programs, and then assist newcomers when we are in a position to be able to help them appropriately. X1000 thumbs up. $133 BILLION a year of OUR local, state and Federal tax dollars spent on foreigners who should not even be here. What about the BILLIONS in foreign aid to countries who hate our guts! LOL...a 4th of July parade...PEANUTS compared to the abuse of our tax dollars by the swamp. What a disgrace and slap in the face to those who served...ALL of us, no matter the capacity have sacrificed. YS1...go gripe about that! Just THINK how much $133 BILLION a year, not a measly $22 million to honor our service members, could rebuild our park service, our inner cities, our water, our sewer, our electrical grids, our homeless, our Veterans, our seniors, our roads our bridges, build affordable housing. Add the $50 BILLION sent out of the country and not spent on our economy. Math and economics do not seem to be your strong qualities. Just hate for this country, our values, our traditions, and poor me entitlement attitude for your pleasure at the expense of others.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

People like above infuriate me. That parade introduced young people to the idea that the military is not just some clown hiding in a hole in the dirt, clutching a rifle, as many on the left want to portray them. The modern military as shown in that parade, is diesel mechanics, heavy equipment operators, engineers, computer programmers, electronic techs, and so much more. That all those people from different parts of the nation, with different interest can work together is an even greater example of what America means. That some young people in an inner city got exposed to those parts of the services, and had some of the myths busted is nothing but a positive. Guess I'm just old school, and the funny part,,,, I wasn't in the Army. I was Coast Guard, I spent my time chasing oil spills and drug runners, so I guess my service meant even less. Your service is appreciated by us all...except the OP.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

The OP chooses to be partisan, the opening post containing "($22 million for the frivolous July 4 parade)" is an example. There are how many parks? And there is how much money available in a general fund? I can't change your opinion or how you think. So explain to me how that $22 million for the parade is useful to us RVers when national parks that we use are needing the funds and actually way behind in over due maintenance? Why does all of the money have to go to YOUR preferred park? The National Mall is also a National Park Property. Also, as a retired Military Service person, I saw that as a great method to introduce the folks in major cities to what the country does outside their local street sweepers and garbage collectors. It is all supposed to be a celebration of America, IF you can see beyond your own personal self interest. Did it achieve the purpose? We’re the others past programs not a Celebration of America? And why is your being a retired Military Service person, which you kept mentioning in every opportunity, validated or reinforced your argument. This is not about defense, this is about federal run parks relevant to where we do our camping. Take a look back. I mentioned it once. That you dont like that, is your problem. Did it make more people aware of what America is, or what it means? I'm sure it did more, largely due to anti Trumpers wanting to make a spectacle of it. If a couple of kids saw equipment they were not aware of, and decided to research, and maybe even join, then yes, it accomplished it's purpose. If a few kids learned what it takes to preserve their freedom, then yes, it served its purpose. If some kids learned something about the outside world because they met some Park Police and were told about working out in the country, Yes it served it's purpose. If that was over your head, well,,,, thats not my problem. X2 Our patriotism and love for our country, respect for our military, our law enforcement and ALL who made our Independence Day possible has NO price tag! We cherish and celebrate this tradition for DECADES! There are parades, military, bands all across this Nation along with our firefighters and law enforcement who participate in every small town in America. Only an outrage now because our current President CHOOSES to honor our military men and women of which they so richly deserve and earned. Of which...I am a Veteran, and I served. I am offended by the OP and his rantings. They paid with their lives, their families suffered, they made this Nation great. And to disparage our 4th of July celebration is simply out of line and disrespectful. These National Parks would not even be possible if not for this great country and all those who fought for it … THEN to cry and whine about Federal tax dollars, which his own State squanders! No other country in the world can light a candle to our parks and the camping opportunities and freedoms our country affords. So many ungrateful people in this country.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

Again, this is not political. It is to our interest as RVers and for Camping World business to have an outstanding national parks that usually provide the cheaper camping facilities and best places to visit and see. Just recently been to one of the most popular national park and the results of funding cuts (7%), fund diversion ($22 million for the frivolous July 4 parade) and distorted priorities or even hostility towards the environment (area around Sequoia National Park are set to be opened for oil explorations). The symptoms of these are all over. Campsites opening late, maintenance not being done, exodus of park rangers and unfilled positions. One very obvious situations on the two camps I've stayed are slots marked unavailable because it's inaccessible when a simple mini dozer could have graded the dirt road, closing of all toilets because of unapproved requisitions and requests for repairs of pipes for the water system... I've written the top federal department responsible -- not even a form letter acknowledgement of my concerns. Maybe if more of us... Griping about a "frivolous" 4th of July parade. You are still harping on that after your previous post was shut down? THAT is political. Who doubled the National Debt? Who wasted billions of our Federal tax dollars? What about the massive fraud and abuse of our tax dollars on all the other "frivolous" spending on BOTH sides of the isle. There is a laundry list of the waste of our money by all these people in government office! We do not have a money problem, we have a massive spending problem, massive waste and abuse. Raising taxes solves nothing. We need to line item Veto the budget and cut the waste. What about the "frivolous" high speed train to nowhere in your great state? How much of our Federal tax dollars were spent on that...maybe you should write your Governor and tell him he should have spent the money on the National Parks. Look in your own back yard for the WASTE of Federal tax dollars by your elected officials.
