RE: Homeless migration to RVs creating problems

Watched the video. Horrific. This is spreading like wildfire across our Nation. I am concerned about diseases, virus, plague if this is not addressed. That is why I say no more immigration from anywhere. We have our own backyard to clean up. Stop adding millions more to the problem. We cannot afford to live here and we cannot continue to pay their bills too. Many people "choose" this lifestyle. We do not "choose" to be subject to it. Nor should we tolerate it. These elected officials are not doing their job to stop this nor are the Judges who let them out. We have plenty of Federal Land in NV, NM, and all over. Set up Federal Tent Cities, keep costs down, set up Rehab there. They have to WORK and be given chores to earn their treatment and expenses. They have to complete on-line courses. Keep them busy. No free ride. Taxpayers are sick and tired of paying for all these free programs out of our paychecks. The violent criminals...put in Seperate Tent Cities. Our jails and prisons are overcrowded, many are because of all the foreigners coming here. They cost us a fortune. Short of putting them on Leper Island to get them out of our misery and theirs, Federal Tent City makes the most sense. No amenities and no Club Med! As far as the ones who need to "Get on Their Feet", start a pilot program "Get on Your Feet". Build the Studio Containers on abandoned lots on bus lines. They can live in the Container for 12 months, have to work 2 hours every week to maintain the property. Have to work and have half their pay put in Escrow for when the 12 months is up. No more babies, mandatory birth control. They have to move on after 12 months. No more lifetime of generations of poverty living off the backs of taxpayers.

RE: Homeless migration to RVs creating problems

I would like to thank the moderators for allowing this topic to be discussed. So of us are not afforded the opportunity to speak up without fear of criticism. I thank the moderator too. Let's keep the discussion going without giving them a reason to lock this thread. And do not attack each other! The OPs point was the homeless living in RVs, and that affects us all in this industry. We need affordable housing so they are not living in RVs. We all would love to continue living this lifestyle of camping, vacation, enjoying our campgrounds, and full-time travelling. But now this massive problem is having a direct impact on enjoying the whole purpose of why we buy these RVs. We want to live and camp in safe areas and enjoy the outdoors. We are taking care of the rest of the world with Trillions of our dollars for decades and we are throwing our own homeless, veterans and seniors under the bus. This will have a direct impact on our own youth and their future. This is wrong on so many levels. These countries need to take care of their own people with their own money and it needs to stop. We cannot throw our money at their problems anymore. We cannot be the police and the ATM machine for the world nor take in millions of their citizens, year after year after year, while we have our own homeless and destitute suffering in our streets. We need a break, a breather, a pause, stay out of these never ending wars, and put a pause on all immigration both legal and illegal for at least 10 years so we can clean up our own backyard. We have the same problems they do and getting worse. We have been far too generous for far too long, now we are suffering the consequences of these failed policies. We have the tax dollars to solve these problems, we cannot continue to give our hard earned money away and it needs to stop. We give billions of our dollars away to countries with zero results for decades. Now our citizens are resorting to living in the streets in RVs, our Seniors and Veterans are not making ends meet. This should not be happening. Our cities are turning into 3rd world status. We should also allow our Seniors to work, without tax penalty, to supplement their income if they wish. There are many jobs they can do. They have skills, they are dependable, they have a work ethic. They are valuable to our companies. I think we need to have a building boom of Senior housing built with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, in small communities with no amenities, (not The Villages) to keep costs down so Seniors can move out of their big homes, free those homes up for families, and the Seniors can downsize and cut costs. Someone posted above, Seniors cannot afford rent, it is very concerning we are not solving that problem. We are worried about our parents and ourselves being able to survive the costs of living in this country. It is very expensive to live here, rent, electric, cable, internet, cell phones, insurance, cars, gas, food, medical, water, taxes. None of those costs have gone down and continue to rise. We need to stop bringing in the rest of the world and paying THEIR bills out of our paychecks, while neglecting our own. Whoever came up with that policy should be forced to live in a cardboard box in San Francisco for a year. Totally unacceptable. What is the solution to this homeless problem? Where do you put them? We cannot afford to build billion dollars shelters to live in for free and do drugs, and refuse to work. Convert shipping containers, make them into studios, work for shelter, basic shelter, put them on empty lots on bus lines. Get on your feet and move on. No more living in the projects for life. We have closed up shopping centers all over this country, use those empty lots.

RE: Homeless migration to RVs creating problems

What is the solution to do with the thousands of people homeless on the streets?Going to be difficult but should not become a burden for the RV industry. I agree, it should not become a burden for the RV industry. I already see too many permanents, who are homeless, and RV parks are declining and becoming trashed because of it. These people are getting the cheap old RVs to live in. They got wind of that jackpot. Now it is an epidemic. Our cities are headed right to 3rd world status. Many already are. What a monumental mess! We need tougher laws and enforce them. They do not want to pay for these people to be put in jail, so they let them off on drug charges and crimes. Our jails are already overcrowded, and many of them in our jails and prisons are not even our citizens. We foot the bill for that too, in the billions. But then they want taxpayers to foot the bill for billions of dollars of free housing for the homeless. Good grief! I do not want to pay for their free housing to sit around and do drugs and trash it. We do not have a money (revenue) problem, we have the means to solve these problems for OUR country. We have an incompetent government full of politicians making bad policies and destroying our cities, our peace, and our prosperity over foreigners who cost us billions of dollars. Those in office are the directly responsible for this homeless problem and them resorting to living in these broken down RVs. Sad indeed.

RE: Homeless migration to RVs creating problems

What is the solution to do with the thousands of people homeless on the streets? Yet we keep importing millions of people here without solving our own issues that are growing rapidly. This is not sustainable. I hear a lot of complaints but no one offering suggestions to solving the problem that does not involve billions of our tax dollars! No more free stuff. It is expensive to live here, housing is costly. We need affordable housing on bus lines that will get people to work. Many are on drugs and have mental issues and just do not care. It is out of control. They are relaxing the laws and now people can do whatever they please with NO consequences and innocent people suffer for it. Rudy Guilani cleaned up New York. Now it is a disaster again. We need to stop throwing money at these problems that have zero results. We build tent cities for people who are not our citizens and should not be here, but do not build them for our own. It is disgraceful to see our cities laying in waste. We have a real crisis on our hands and should be very concerning to us all. I can see why they are using RV's for shelters, but there needs to be somewhere set up for them to go. Then that creates a whole host of other problems, water, sewage, electric, drugs, crime and trash. Well said. I tried to send you a PM complementing you on your statement, but you know how that worked out. Thanks for your well thought out input. Lakeside Thank you. I sent you a PM. Hope you got it.

RE: Building RV park near McKinney TX, what would you want most?

Sites spread out far enough, or at least arranged in a way so you don't feel like you're staring at the back of your neighbor's RV. I would also appreciate a fenced dog park so the dogs could go run around off-leash. Also, not sure this exists in any RV park but we would love an "adults" area... meaning no kids around in a certain part of the park. Or at least put the kid friendly stuff at one end. x2 55+ Adult only section. Buckhorn Lake RV Resort in Kernville, TX has a great set up. Limit number of people on each site to 6. Limit number of dogs. If they are having a big get together, a party, or Rally, must use a Pavilion and not disturb the rest of the neighboring sites.

RE: Black Tank--Borax?

We put 3 gallons of water, 1 Cup powder "20 Mule Team Borax" and 1 Cup of Calgon liquid softner. Let it swish around on the drive to the CG. Dump it and then we put more water in the Black tank before using it.

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

No Campfires..........PLEASE post those CGs Call them out We should start an ongoing list that gets updated frequently That way I can pick which ones I will partonize cause I hate campfires! Not so much hate them.....it's just there are MORE & More inept campers that do NOT know how to have a campfire. They think smoldering/smokey is good vs an actual fire And then they go inside! YEAH.CGs with NO Campfires. I like the concept Please post the list - if you find one! Let the "camper" choose his option...:C Like OB - I'm in the "no thanks" group - been at too many campgrounds where you choke on your inconsiderate neighbor's smoke..:( ~ x2 "no thanks" Maybe a solution would be build a very large community fireplace with a chimney. Bring your chair for a group fireplace that is away from the RV's. I have seen so many people just leave unattended smoky fire pits going all day long. And WesternRVParkOwner...I agree with your policies and it is rude and inconsiderate to burn your picnic tables or destroy your property. These facilities are for us all to enjoy, not to trash at your pleasure, for your camping "experience". How would you all like to check into a Hotel where the previous occupant broke the chairs, marred the dressers, and scratched up the TV? Good grief. What happened to respecting other peoples property. Put your grill on the ground...not the owner's picnic tables! No one wants to use the picnic table that the previous, inconsiderate camper, has charred to a crisp because they are too lazy to put their grill on the ground.

RE: Campsite Sanitation - Beware

Hepatitis A is caused by a virus that infects liver cells and causes inflammation. The inflammation can affect how your liver works and cause other signs and symptoms of hepatitis A. The virus most commonly spreads when you eat or drink something contaminated with fecal matter, even just tiny amounts. It does not spread through sneezing or coughing.

I have seen people with dogs let their dog urinate on the picnic tables and water pedastals, disgusting. We use Clorax Spray Foam Bleach on the water spigot before hooking up the hose.

It is sent to a Campground you are staying at. You figure out where you will be, then notify them to package it up and send it. Like a one time forwarding until you need your mail again.

RE: building new campground

My wife and I would GLADLY travel 8 miles to a nice, quiet and secure place for even one night. EIGHT MILES, what's that? It's a heart beat in terms of traveling hundreds during the day. Yes, we see and, have rarely stayed at, RV parks and campground that are on the other side of a fence, by an off ramp of freeway. No thanks. Campground builders can usually purchase land that close to freeways for CHEAP! And, they also know that many folks don't want to drive ANY more distance than they have to for an over nights stay. I have never heard of the "Harvest Host" program. I think it's great. The wife and I are so tired of "live-ins" at many, many of the RV parks and campgrounds we've visited. The Harvest Host program and, the OP's thoughts are very welcome to us, even for just a night. Heck, I'd drive to the OP's x-farm for just one night, as long as we're not put next to broken bicycles, broken cars, dead potted plants hanging all over etc. To be able to park, setup, and then just sit outside and relax without car noise, Jake brakes or, staring at a sewer dump hose 5' away from our chairs, is a welcome thought. Scott x2...we will travel the 8 miles for peace and quiet.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

Truth is, you need wealthy people to invest in businesses and corporations that create jobs. When you take away the incentive, jobs are lost and the system collapses (Socialism). This is the myth that has developed since the '80s. I'm reasonably sure that if there is no demand for a good or service, there will be no investment in businesses or corporations to create new jobs. Instead the try to buy existing business, merger, cut costs (Workers). While Socialism is considered a foul word, if Capitalism is not regulated by Government, or IMHO better, strong unions, the wealth will be concentrated in fewer hands until the middle class is only people that used to be rich. Hear, hear, this is a knowledgeable view. This is Keynes economic theory which Reaganomics tried to replace with trickle down – giving tax breaks for companies to invest and expand without the underlying consumer demand. We got instead bigger deficit, higher borrowings and eventually 3 recessions. Looks like history will repeat this time again. Let’s also update ourselves and not be scared-sh*tless with the word “socialism”. It’s not the 50’s or the 60’s anymore where this means Soviet Union nor Russia. The new economic-political system now refers to it as Democractic Socialism modeled by the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, etc. These countries have been surveyed to be the happiest and healthiest on earth with free college, universal healthcare, 48:1 CEO to worker pay gap (US is 354 times average worker), and comfortable social security pensions for seniors. Update yourself: Finland Government Collapse The government has collapsed over their FREE stuff. It is not FREE, they pay the high taxes for it. They are a FRACTION of the population we have in this country. It will never work here. You want "socialism"...plenty of successful (LOL) countries to go to.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

A little off topic, but not meaning to be "political", but I just don't understand why everyone thinks Pres Trump is somehow skating on his taxes. With the financial revenues this guy deals with, he would most definitely be scrutinized by the Internal Revenue Service for audits and re-audits and re-re-re audits year after year after year. If he (or his financial wizards) can find and use tax credits, loop holes, and other ways to legally use all the available tax credits to HIS advantage, AND all this is already scrutinized by the IRS, then how can ANYONE question anything about his finances. Think about it folks? The more money one makes, the more you are scrutinized by the IRS. If all your ducks are NOT in order, they will find the errors and .... BELIEVE ME, I KNOW .... they will get their due money. If they don't .... they seize your assets. I saw my in-laws go through this from a horribly failed business venture they attempted and then tried to false report their income. And a CHURCH I was attending years ago was under IRS scrutiny for the way their pastor was being paid and NOT being reported correct. They almost lost the church ... yes ... a church! So while everyone is harping about how unethical or crooked Mr. Trump is, think about it folks .... He's not crooked. Actually, he's squeeky clean, coming through year, after year, after year financial audits BY the IRS. And if the IRS is satisfied, then his business IS HIS business, not ours or anyone elses, any more than you'd want your financial shared to the public masses. Think about it. Sorry, I had to vent. This post may get deleted. I understand if it is. x2...I agree. He has Attorneys, Audits, CPA's, Accountants, Bookkeepers, and they will use every LEGAL tax code to the companies advantage, just like every company can in this country. The politicians approved of these Tax Codes and loopholes and now want to bully him, LOL. What hypocrites. The IRS will go after him if he falsified his taxes. His taxes are not anybody's business. They should be kept private. If there is a problem, the IRS will audit and go after him. That is their job. Not the job of politicians demanding those returns, and not some Joe average citizen who "thinks" they know what taxes were paid or not. They just want to tear this person apart, find any dirt they can, and continue to obstruct and harass this person. Wealthy people give billions of dollars to charity, hospitals, the arts, Churches, many charitable organizations who rely on those donations. Tax them 70% and those donations will dry up. We do not have a tax problem. We have a spending and waste problem.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

We do not have a "tax" problem. We have a spending problem and the monumental waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. Fraud in the billions every year. Trillions of dollars spent on never ending wars. OUR money that should be spent rebuilding this country and our inner-cities. And we need to stop being the ATM machine for the world. They need to stand on their own two feet, solve their problems, and prosper. We need term limits and line item veto the budget, it is out of control. Tax us all 75%...they will still overspend and now bankrupt us with the cries for "free" stuff. It is not free.
