RE: Who is responsible for discounts?

No different than a coupon. The customer needs to present the evidence or request for the discount.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Amazes me that they revise their business plans every 10 days. To publicly state you will not be selling more stock, to doing it in less than 14 days. Did that come directly from Tesla or just speculation on the investors part? Generally they should not be making any statements like that during the blackout period.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

So much for Elon crying cash poor in the defamation trial. ;) "Chief Executive Elon Musk will participate in the offering by purchasing up to $10 million in new shares, Tesla TSLA, +0.41% said in a statement. Board member Larry Ellison will also participate by buying up to $1 million in stock." How do you know he used cash? I'll bite. How else do you purchase something for $10 million when he testified under oath he was illiquid? It cannot be both ways at the same time. But you are probably correct, he most likely lied or was not fully truthful during the trial.

RE: Would You Camp at a Place Like This??

*Quiet, Private land holding only one or 2 other RVs, if any. You might have the whole thing to yourself. $50-$80 a night depending on location. Simple math tells me you'd have a hard time making a profit on this. Lets say high end. $80 a night. Lets say three RV's total and lets say you are full 365 days a year (highly unlikely). 3x$80 = $240 x 365 = $87,600 GROSS before any expenses. Can't see how this is a profitable plan. Am I missing something? Mike With only three spaces the only advantage I see would maybe using a tax write off on an otherwise ineligible asset like land or improvements. Occupancy rates probably in the 20-30% and not at those prices. So after marketing and insurance expenses maybe a break even endeavor. It can be done but probably pretty difficult to turn a profit on such a small scale.

RE: Invalid VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

If you confirmed the vin on the vehicle matches the title and registration not sure what your options are. Is this seller the original owner? They may have additional documentation to help the process along.

RE: Class 3-8 market share

What in included in Dodge? Anything made in that class when Ram was under Dodge. Since this is going based on registration, it is counting vehicles on the road. Ok, current registrations. I was thinking annual sales.

If you are asking what is included/different in the 10k GVWR option in the F350, it is the sticker.

RE: How much do dealers pay for the RV's they sell

The real question should be: What is a $100,000 RV really worth considering the manufacturer made a profit selling it for $50,000? Since much less that $50,000 in materials and labor was used, is it any wonder these things are of low quality? I'm doubtful that a $100K MSRP RV sold for $50K new... Although I did read it on the internet, so it must be true. Yes, I would put as much credibility in this story as the people getting 25 mpg pulling a 20k lb trailer.

RE: When does a Pickup become a " Historical Vehicle"?

Not sure how we could answer you country's criteria for a historical plate. Here (Michigan)it is 26 years and there are use restrictions to run a historical plate.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Ben, read what the good doctor has to say about SUA. Remember what I said a few weeks ago and the fan boi's tried to shout me down?Does this defect also disable the brakes? I challenge ANY vehicle to overpower the brake system. Just name it. Evidence that these highly electronic vehicles can have the brakes fail. I would be comfortable in any Tesla or other brand. But crazy things can happen when these systems break down. no brakes Interesting What the hek are electronic brakes and why isnt anyone suing GM since its such problem? Btw My 08 Silverado has no problem stoping and my brakes lasted 7 years before needing new pads and rotors. I think Ill keep it until Tesla truck is available :B I believe it is part of the abs or electric boost. I am pretty sure Tesla has power brakes also. So contrary to some posters in this thread. You can have direct hydraulic brakes that can be affected by programming or failure of a related system.Even Tesla did an over the air update on theirs due to unsatisfactory stopping distances. ABS improves stoping distance, it canot prevent brake pedal from not working. Its been proven the drivers pressed wrong pedal aka Acelerator instead of brake. case closed. And how do you think it achieves that goal? Magic. I gave you 2 example, one Tesla and one GM that shows software does impact brake performance.

RE: F350 Super Duty vs 3500 Denali vs The Ike Pulling 30k lbs

^^^ Its really hard to say. Maybe GM is wanting cooler temps so the cooling fan never shut off. My Ford runs up to 205 *F in minus 5*F weather cruising down the level highway without a trailer. The GM ran in its peak hp range the whole way up the hill and yet put less power to the pavement than the Ford did running at 2200 rpm. If that big cooling fan was running continuous it may have robbed an awful lot of HP.I kind of doubt the GMs fan ran all the time. In the Ford, when it came on, it was VERY loud. The GM was quiet inside. And if that huge fan had been running, it should have made some noise, and I would think that they would have talked about it like they did with the Ford. The low trans temp doesn't suprise me, as my 2011 also runs cool even towing in AZ in the summer. In my experience, Ford fans have always been loud.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Just a question: If the $35,000 model was so unpopular and nobody wanted a "plain jane Tesla", why did reservations go through the roof when the $35,000 model 3 was announced? "...in March 2016, Tesla promised that it would start at $35,000. It built up a preorder list of over 400,000 customers based, at least in part, on that promise." So nobody wanted a "plain jane Tesla", huh? Just trying to keep the truth out there. If Ford opened up reservations for next years F150 would you assume that everyone wanted an XL? Since you are not going to buy a Tesla anyway and you probably don't know anyone that is concerned about it why do you concern yourself with it? Not sure if this is a fair comparison. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) the only or primary difference is the battery range/number of motors. So the question is how many would order the Lariat with the base engine to save $10k. I bet you that would be a significant number. I don't blame Tesla for selling the models they don't lose money on. But I think there is a fallacy in the concept that demand is low for the base Model 3. I would venture they would sell every single one if readily offered without jumping through hoops. What hoops. It’s a phone call. We have one about two blocks away. Talking to the guy, he bought it as commuter to replace his 2011 leaf. Didn’t want anything fancy but wanted Supercharger access in case he went to Vancouver. Easy peazy. If you don't think they made it difficult just to say they offered it you were not paying attention. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with pushing the trim levels that produce a profit and that is exactly what I would have done. But being honest about it does not make you part of the kill Tesla crowd.

RE: F350 Super Duty vs 3500 Denali vs The Ike Pulling 30k lbs

4X, how much do you think these 10 speeds help with the Diesel engines compared to their previous 6 speeds? Lets say the Ford with todays HP/TQ with 6 speed would it do as well as the 10 speed or??? It will do better in a variety of situations compared to the previous version. This does not equal better in any one or every specific test. If you focus on one test as a proxy for usefulness you are missing the bigger picture of technological advancements. I agree, I was curious his opinion on that specific situation. I guess my thinking is how much of the time are we using all these gears, do they make much of a difference? Cruising down the highway in high gear 6 or 10 speeds any difference? Pulling a 6% grade for 5 miles make much difference? Once you are in your gear at a given grade that does not change. To me the fact we have/had 6 equally spaced gears was the most improvement we all have seen. Now "I" think most of it is advertising and not that much is to be gained. I think where the 10 speed will benefit is more steady stuff and lower throttle accelerations where it does not have to make big gear jumps. I am thinking any test that involves pedal to the floor HP shootouts will probable be fairly competitive to any other transmissions unless you seek out a hill that just suits a particular trucks relative strength.
