RE: Rv show likes and dislikes

Went to the Tampa super RV show. Looked at a RV brand that everyone says is high quality and several (internet) full time families own. For the price I expected better quality materials to be used in the construction of their units. All the factory rep could talk about was how well the oil workers in Canada loved their units. I was really disappointed and crossed this manufacture off my short list. Many of the units had a lot of people in them making it hard to take a good look at them. While the show was big and crowded I did enjoy it. Total miles walked that day 11.4.

RE: Batteries - Diesel Trucks

My 2008 would not start up one morning. So I put my battery jump starter on the truck. But it would not start. I then also attached my battery charger and placed it on 50 amp start. It took both to provide enough amps to fire up the glow plugs and start my truck. I replaced both batteries. DW ran my battery tester over so I could not check my batteries. I know it was my fault for leaving my battery tester on the driveway next to my truck while I was working on it.

RE: horse or cart first?

The gas truck can bee a good choice. The diesel engine is a lot heavier then the gas engine. The gas engine does not need DEF or have a DPF to cause problems. Any shop can work on the gas engine. If I was the OP I would get the truck first then match the 5th wheel. I like my 2wd diesel for my needs but will get a 4wd next time just because I have never had one before.

RE: Potential TT owner looking for advice

Winnebago has a few TTs that you could tow. Sometimes you have to drive several hours to find a dealer with the TT you want.

RE: Hurrican Florence

As a LEO I always have to work during and after the hurricane. So, I purchased some very strong yellow straps that truckers use and put 4 foot screw anchors in the ground. I ran the straps across the top of the TT and attached the straps to the anchors. When not in use I placed large PVC caps over the anchors and painted them orange. I also filled the water tank and pepped the TT for use. After the storm I used my open frame loud generator to run the house fridge and power the TT. I lived in my TT until the power was restored to the brick house. In my TT I had ac and tv :) TT has been through two hurricanes.

RE: 4 season rv recommendations

I would like a 4 season RV not for camping in the cold but for camping in the hot summer heat. Also the larger the RV the harder it will be to heat and cool.

RE: PRK eye surgery?

I have had both LASIK and PRK. I like the eye I had the LASIC better then the eye I had PRK in. Would not due PRK again. With LASIK they cut a flap and if your eye. If your eye sight changes then then they can open the flap and use LASIK again. I get a lot of pain sometimes in the eye I had PRK in.

RE: Triple towing / Dubble Towing

In FL ONLY commercial vehicles may double tow, and only on the turnpike and interstate roads. Their are several assembly locations along the turnpike and interstate roads for the commercial drivers to pick up a second trailer or drop off their second trailer. They may not double tow on local or state roads. Just because you see someone double towing doesn't mean it's legal. Your rig may not exceed 65 feet in total length. FL statue 316.515(3) "Unless otherwise specifically provided for in this section, a combination of vehicles not qualifying as commercial motor vehicles may consist of no more than two units coupled together; such nonqualifying combination of vehicles may not exceed a total length of 65 feet, inclusive of the load carried thereon, but exclusive of safety and energy conservation devices approved by the department for use on vehicles using public roads."

RE: Above ground Pool

You could let it leak until it stops leaking. Then you could locate the leak. If you suspect a location in the pool is leaking. Then use the dye to see if it gets sucked into the leak. In my inground pool I check for cracks in the pool walls. cracks in the tile and behind the pool light. On your pool I would slide my hands along the floor and walls looking for a non smooth surface.

RE: Towing without a equalizer hitch

A good WD hitch with sway control keeps my head lights on the road and makes me feel better in a strong cross wind. Sure people with boats and lawn service people never use WD hitches on their trailers. But they don't travel with three holding tanks on their trailers that may be full or 1/2 full.

RE: What to look for in purchasing a tow vehicle for my TT

If you want to go with a 1/2 ton then get load range "E" tires. It may come with passenger tires load range "P". Many 1/2 ton trucks are sold with passenger car tires on them.

RE: "The trailer may have been too heavy"

Good idea to have a fire extinguisher that's easy to get to. They could have lost the TT also.
