RE: Border

My Canadian snowbird next-door neighbors have been unable to see their home in over a year and they are fully vaccinated. Someone above mentioned the option of hiring someone to drive an RV over the border while they fly across. How does that work? Would it be considered commercial traffic? I've been writing my Congressman and Senators about this on my neighbors' behalf but have heard nothing about the prospect of border reopening to Canadians other than the monthly setback.
That said, it is very clear that the Can-Am border closure is not about COVID when tens of thousands of immigrants are pouring into the country who are neither required to be tested nor to vaccinate.

RE: Long Beach, WA to Spokane

I'd go with scenic US 12, White Pass. From 12 you can access I-90 by heading north from Yakima and east at Ellensburg. All sizes of rigs take this route. The only problem is that in summer there are often some areas of road construction.

RE: Route 281 Trail of the Ancients in Utah

There is a bridge closure on UT 95 9 miles west of Blanding that will make this route unavailable until at least October.
Wow, thanks for the heads-up! Was planning on going that way.

RE: Help, 2003 Arctic Fox fridge isn’t staying cool when on DC

Operation on DC will strain to keep it cold.
Why not run it on propane like most RVers?
Bingo!
Or get a compressor fridge like mine that's made to run on DC.

RE: 87 to 85 octane-what altitude?

FWIW, I've camped at anywhere from sea level to 10,000 ft. with good ol' regular gas. I did have to adjust the carburetor on my generator for high elevation.

Ditto to The Long, Long Trailer. Funny and yet reflective of many of our RV adventures and misadventures.

Ridiculous! :( "Free laundry"? For that price I would expect them to do my laundry.

RE: Just experienced our first Non-refundable campground

At least give them a negative review on one or more of the RV campground review sites. Under the circumstances, it would be reasonable to expect a refund.

RE: Campground Rates

While I occasionally spring for an RV park, most of my camping is done at USFS campgrounds and dispersed areas. While the USFS campgrounds are becoming more popular and most seem to be taking reservations, it's still possible to find a site on a weekday. I would never dream of paying $94 to park my rig! :E

On some busy freeways, leaving four car lengths in front of you means someone will merge in. :D

RE: Possible Canada boarder opening mid August

Hard to be 'hopeful' when the goalposts keep moving. :R
There was a time last fall/winter when my next-door neighbors, snowbirds from BC, kept thinking every month they were going to get to go south to their winter home. They'd get their hopes up and no dice. :(

RE: learning about rving

My close friend, also a senior female with two dogs, has a Class B Sprinter and it works very well for her. Where I like to camp I sometimes need the high clearance and 4-wheel drive so my Tiger is perfect (and I have only one small dog) but Sprinter Class Bs are easy to rent in Canada, as I have seen many on the road on my trips to Alaska so the suggestion to rent first is a good idea. Good luck and enjoy your travels. :)
