RE: New Canada Border regs.

This is where you can ask questions about border crossings. I posted a question but probably the reply will be to contact the actual crossing office. I thought it might be worth a try. https://help.cbp.gov/s/questions?language=en_US Clickable Link Added clickable link Admin RV.net

RE: New Canada Border regs.

Thanks Joe. Sure makes it confusing. I would fax or email for something in writing but doubt I would get an answer.

RE: New Canada Border regs.

Sorry but the us border is closed to Canadians at both the southern and northern ends. The US has published this info. There may have been one or 2 incidents of someone being allowed. The US statement could be clearer. Canada is very clear. At land borders US tourists are not allowed with one exception for those going to Alaska. One couple stayed in Canada and went to Banff. They paid a fine of around $5000.

RE: New Canada Border regs.

Mexico has not enforced border closures due to pressure from the tourism industry.

Although the Ontario people are headed to Florida I did read of one BC couple that had their mh shipped to the USA and they continued to Mexico.

I think in the next 30 days we will see some changes that will make border crossing more difficult. I also think that Americans should not be able to drive through Canada to Alaska. If we cannot drive through the USA to Canada then the same rules should be applied to Americans.

RE: New Canada Border regs.

There are about 500 people that have shipped the ir vehicles to the USA. One company in BC one in ON and another in PQ I have a quote from a car hauler that het my vehicle to the USA for $600. They handle the import but you have fill out a form listing all your belongings in the vehicle. You are not breaking any laws. Of course the US could stop non essential air travel.

RE: New Canada Border regs.

Corner joe. I called the Mariposa crosding a month ago. He told me absolutely no crossing. I will call again next week. Too bad we cannot get something in writing I do have a means of crossing but it is a lot of work. A flatbed tow truck from Nogales Mexico can take my pu to Tucson. I can fly from HMO to Tucson. I wish I could find a Canadian who has crossed.

New Canada Border regs.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/garneau-negative-test-airline-1.5858379 I posted this in the snowbird forum but it affects many Canadian travelers to Mexico. Presently Canadians cannot drive from Mexico to the USA. But now even if you fly returning to Canada could be a problem. I imagine that right now there must be some Canadian RV'rs that are stuck in Mexico. The above regulation takes affect on Jan.7 and Canada is looking into applying the rule to land borders. Covid strikes again.

New Border Regulations

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/garneau-negative-test-airline-1.5858379 The above regulation takes affect on Jan. 7. This will affect any snowbirds that had their car or rv shipped across the border as Canada is working on applying the test rule to land crossings. I also wonder if any US citizens will be allowed to cross Canada in order to get to Alaska. I expect we will see similar regulations from some US states. N.D already has a rule that requires anyone entering the state to be tested. This does not apply to travelers who are not staying overnight. Unfortunately the Canadian Government did not realize that this regulation is going to cause lots of problems. Stay tuned!

RE: MXP

I remember when the gov was cash rich and when the peso was under pressure they would buy up the peso to prevent a fall But that was when they had some highly educated People in the government. Times have changed.

RE: MXP

The cheer for a strong peso is not good for the nation. It discourages foreign investment and thus affects employment. Currency values are very complicated but stability is most important.

RE: Big RV arrived in Zihuatanejo today

In many cases the land became too valuable to remain a CG. Hotels, condos, supermarkets and even homes were built. In other cases the parks were family owned. The parents were old and the kids were not interested. Crime was a big problem. Still is today.Lack of government support for rvtravrl is non existent. A plethora of problems.

The peso is soaring. Good for Mexicans, bad for tourists. Some analysts are saying the exchange rate could go to 18 to 1.

RE: Missing TIP

Their is no longer linked to just uour passport. There is a method to cancel your old TIP. It is difficult. You need a notarized copy of the bill of sale. Notarized copy of the new owners registration. You may require a notarized letter from the new owner's DMV stating that the vehicle is now registered to that new owner. There is also a form that needs to be attached. I am sorry but I do not know where to find that form. You must verify that the form is current as it has changed a few times. The form has a name and address of the clerk that does the paper work. Verify that the name is current. If that person no longer works there the whole envelope will be refused. You should make copies of everything and use a courier service. They may even require a pound of flesh. Good Luck. BTW. Expedite has no meaning in Spanish. Be patient.

CDC issues warning

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning against all travel to Mexico. The CDC issued a level 4 advisory, warning that there is a “very high level of Covid-19 in Mexico.” “Travelers should avoid all travel to Mexico. Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading Covid-19,” the health protection agency said. Mexico’s confirmed case tally is currently just over 1 million while the official death toll is 102,739. Both totals are widely considered to be significant undercounts due to the low testing rate. The CDC also warned that people who choose to travel and become infected while abroad may be denied reentry to the United States. “If you are exposed to someone with Covid-19 during travel, you might be quarantined and not permitted to return to the United States until 14 days after your last known exposure,” its advisory said. The CDC’s warning came just five days before Thanksgiving and as case numbers in the United States reach record levels. It was perhaps too late to dissuade many Americans from taking a short break in warmer weather south of the border. An analysis by the insurance company Allianz published last week found that Cancún, Quintana Roo, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, are, in that order, the top three international destinations for U.S. Thanksgiving tourists. The risk of coronavirus infection in Quintana Roo and Baja California Sur is currently yellow light “medium,” according to the federal government’s stoplight system, while it is orange light “high” in Jalisco. There is undoubtedly a risk of coronavirus infection in Cancún, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta – all three destinations have recorded thousands of confirmed cases – for United States tourists but the risk that Americans will bring the virus with them would appear to be greater given the recent explosion in case numbers in the U.S. Furthermore, Mexico doesn’t require travelers to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test in order to enter the country and there is no quarantine requirement. The CDC, however, said in its advisory that people who must travel should get tested one to three days before departure. It also warned people not to travel if they are waiting for test results, test positive or are sick. Mexico is in a tricky situation because it already has its own major coronavirus problems – and obviously doesn’t want to import more cases – but at the same time tourism revenue is sorely needed. Tourism usually contributes to almost 10% of Mexico’s GDP but the sector collapsed earlier this year due to the pandemic and associated restrictions. A recovery has begun but the ability of hotels, restaurants and other tourism-oriented businesses to recoup their losses is limited due to state-mandated occupancy and capacity restrictions designed to ensure that social distancing is viable and the spread of the virus is controlled. RE: Border Restrictions Until Late December

Tallyho. Canadians returning to Canada may NOT enter the USA. To quote a cbp official: If you do not have a US passport you cannot cross. There are some exceptions but they do not apply to tourists or RV'rs. Examples are: essential workers, enjoyment, medical appointment. Canadians may fly in with no restrictions. When the border first closed in March the USA was allowing Canadians to return to Canada. Not now.

RE: Cant get parts shipped from USA to Canada

I should have added that most Monaco's have 2 latches in the door. An upper and a lower. There is a rid that connects them and they need to be adjusted so they work in unison.

RE: Cant get parts shipped from USA to Canada

Have you gone to one of the Monaco forums to find out who makes that door handle. It is probably trimark. They might ship it to Canada. Amazon.ca also has some. There is a Monaco dealer in Calgary. Unless you have a very old unit any decent Canadian dealer can get you that part. Be prepared to pay dearly.
