RE: My water heater drain plug is metal, is that a problem?

It may be an anode rod depending on brand/interior construction.

RE: "Use Both Lanes Until Merge Point"

If it weren't for the last second cutter-inners there probably wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

RE: I kid you not!

I read about the Continental Congress declaring Independence Day and I saw the Movie 'Independence Day' But have always celebrated 4th Of July. I'm a high school graduate, some college, spent 6 yrs in the NAVY and 68 yrs old Yes, but you knew it wasn't part of WWII history, right? ;-)

RE: I kid you not!

I don't see what your beef is all about. I'm 69 yrs old and have always heard happy 4th! I've never heard happy Independence day! My beef was/is, these days when hard fought traditions are constantly being forgotten/overlooked that our kids don't even know what one of the most important (arguably the most important cuz without it there wouldn't be a country) events in our country was actually all about, other than a holiday and a chance to blow stuff up! It is an education problem and it does start at home!

I kid you not!

A couple days ago I was heading into a local grocery store. There were a few middle school aged kids there saying "happy fourth of July." I said "thank you but you realize we are celebrating Independence Day ON the fourth of July." Then one of them said " Ya, but we don't call it that any more because world war II was so long ago" ... OMG!

RE: Electrical question

Many people have commented on the fact that they might try to charge him later for the electricity he has used. But,without the meter working how would they know how much he has used ? Maybe they could use previous bills and come up with a estimate but, he could argue that number down lower. Still probably best to send them a notice in writing and after that if they don't fix it and then try to charge you for past usage you could say that you tried to tell them and it's their own fault. If there is a master meter and the sub meters the park could try to figure out the difference, but hard to prove OPs actual use. But they may try at some point and provide a big bill.

RE: Registration fee for 5th wheel in AZ

AZ truck registration appears more expensive than California. Wow. My brother just did his 2019 F350 $1700. But that was for 5 years. It was around $700(?) in CA for 1 year.

RE: Happijack Bed

Mine only has one bed? Then use the pins to take load off of chains while on the road in up position.

Load up everything and then air up the bags until the truck is back to level.

RE: Toy Hauler Garage- bed lift system

You could also drill holes for pins (like at the top) to hold upper bunk at whatever height you want.

RE: Reminiscing Part 3, old cell phones

Same here, pager and bag phone. 35c a minute for phone so only used when pager went off. You didn't see people talking endlessly on the phone in those days (unless they were pretending or the phone was fake - remember those peeps.)

RE: 2nd electric bed in garage of toy hauler

If you are referring to adding a new Happijac type bed lift there are kits that make it fairly easy to do if you have the space. If you are saying you want to add an additional bed to an existing system, I'm sure the chain parts are available through the lift manufacturer.

RE: Riding in Cal City

We go out there all the time and do have a permit for our RZR. Being street legal you should NOT need the permit. Worst case they stop you and sell you one on the spot $15. We have never been stopped. You'll want to check out Randsburg (lunch) and also the Husky monument! Burro Schmidt tunnel, and lots of other things to see out there.

RE: Nascar Follies

Nascar doesn't have season champs anymore...just a champ of the last 4 races. I'm old and old fashion but IMO a season champ is who ever has the most points at the end of that season. They did have a regular season trophy/winner (Harvick) but not much of a to-do about it. I think the regular season champ should get an automatic spot in the final 4 (or 5.)
