RE: Downloading at Campground

Depends on how long we'll be there. A day or two no, the joy of a TC is not having to bring anything else. Drop it and go... https://i.imgur.com/Bj8j1Oal.jpg

RE: Tryin to talk the wife into a newer TC......lol.

Nice looking unit! Please excuse the questions from recently quoted below...the sliding door offers more interior room and the linen closet has way more in-bath storage than my triple slide camper. Nice entry closet and plenty of wardrobe closets in the sleeping area. I think that's what the pull handles are for? Everything right there in the photos. Hope it works out! Yes you are correct...those are wardrobes in the sleeping area and they go down to the floor of the C/O under the mattress. It was an awesome design. I wish S&S still made it IIRC the had won a government contract and quit making TC's. We went by there in Kalispell, MT on out way to Glacier NP 7 or 8 years ago and they weren't making TC's anymore. Just special orders and repairs, I don't think they do that anymore now either. But they were a VERY well made and designed unit.

RE: Tryin to talk the wife into a newer TC......lol.

Go to see the camper, get into shower, close the curtain and see if you can turn without ripping something. Can you sit comfortable on the throne without opening the door? Can you get in without pushing the slide? Where is the wardrobe? That's camper 101....we've been RVing for 40 years now and know how to pic a unit, and it doesn't have a slide....thanks anyhow. We've had a TC for over 20 years now.

RE: Tryin to talk the wife into a newer TC......lol.

Looks to be in great shape from the pics. A word of caution though. It's sitting outside in a dealer lot or storage area and AZ sun is relentless. You would be well served to ensure that the camper has been stored indoors or undercover primarily, or it could be extra crispy! (Maybe it's not spent much time down there or whatever, but something to consider) Haven't decided if we want to go see it yet, and yes we have concerns of "crispy" being an issue.

RE: Tryin to talk the wife into a newer TC......lol.

I like the interior on that one..My wife keeps talking larger RV and it would be nice but it would eliminate most of the places I go...So we're keeping it the way it is for a while.. I'd buy that in a heartbeat if it checked out and was what I was after..love the floorplan.. She's coming around...the other day she said that it would probably work for what we need, and she does like the side entry. Jeez, that looks nice. Good luck! thanks

Tryin to talk the wife into a newer TC......lol.

Found this 2008 S&S 11FBSC in AZ, 11', dry bath, jenny, lotsa storage, and side entry...and it's 400lbs lighter than our present S&S. I saw one of these once in person and loved it, working on it now...hahaha https://i.imgur.com/5D1EP9Zl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aDePv5Yl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EAzGIVMl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7buqUD7l.jpg

RE: The ticking time bomb under the hood

Dang glad I have a gasser! At those prices I could have replaced the whole engine. Yikes X2.....But sorry it happened..It's these little extra super expensive expenses a diesel has that keeps me from owning one... I can get a BEAST 460 with almsot 600lbs of tq for 6K...OUCH! Or double that with a diesel for less money in mods and still get 18 mpg cruising down the highway. I can't even imagine only 600 ft lbs when I'm loaded down. It's nice to be able to drop the hammer and pull away even loaded. But then again, I'm the impatient type......lol. Already own Red and she's fine with the TC on her now...not probably going to get another diesel. I gave up on'um when they went ULSD and my 12v fell on it's face with that garbage...took a ton of power out of it.

RE: Ford 7.3L gas power numbers

Might just keep Red and put a stump puller in her, never know. I can get a mildly built, smog legal 550+lbs of tq 460 for around 6K otd. that would make her a BEAST!!

RE: Chevy dually load range E tire pressure

10,600 lbs gross with 235/86-16 E-rated tires, RAW 6,850lbs, FAW 3,750lbs. Fronts at 50psi and rears at 60psi, and that's 5-7 psi more than manufacture load-vs-weight inflation. The S&S is just over 4,500lbs ready to camp

RE: The verdict is in! DRW vs SRW....real world

Don't be afraid to run the 80 psi on the back. I'd bet the weight transition when you make turns puts quite a load on the outside tires. Not all trucks sit in the driveway or on the scales. I have to run red at 60 psi rears to be close to the recommended load-vs-weight of the tire and at 80 psi it rides horrible. I also ran my last set of rears at 80 psi and wore the centers out first....over inflated for the load. I run my fronts at 50 psi which is still high for the load.

RE: insurance questions

We always carry a separate policy on the TC, it's relatively cheap, and covers WAY MORE than anything my truck policy would cover.

RE: Seriously looking at a late 90's HR Endeavor

Thanks for the replies, we've owned HR's in the past and were happy with the build quality. I have friends who have HR pushers also and they speak highly of them.
