RE: Mysterious leak

I discovered that my 1 way valve on the city water supply leaks when the pump is on and doesn't with city water hooked up. I will change it when it comes out of hibernation.

RE: Found my replacement engine!

Similar situation with my Suburban Looked at that GM 502 crate engine and decided to rebuild the 7.4L Passing CA smog a must and no one have an acceptable answer on the 502 So my 7.4L is looking to have a 280 cam, roller rockers, 9.x compression, worked head, marched injectors, etc to be a bit under 500 ft/lbs around 2-2.5 KRPMs, etc Built 4L80E rated 1KHP Gearvenders with the splitter option, 0.5 OD, which will turn the 4 speed into an 8 speed 5.38 diffs, but having a tough time finding it for the front That will give a lower 1st and higher OD Don't know if the Xfrcase will need beefing up 1996 K3500 Sub and fits/suits me Either LT255/85R16 or LT285/75R16 on current 10" wide alloys. Not going to lift...maybe a torsion bar crank Still deciding... One thing I don't have to worry about is smog, not tested in rural Oregon.

RE: Found my replacement engine!

Not to mention a twisted driveline or rear end scattered all over the road. If that's the case, my Ram is screwed. The Cummins has over 600 lb ft of torque AND it has a 6.29:1 first gear. No rear end would have a chance. Not worried either hahaha

RE: Found my replacement engine!

mk, sounds like a [email protected] engine. Who's? ATK? Those numbers seem way off for a naturally aspirated big block though. Not a lot of hp for the torque. Either way, it'll make red be able to smoke the duallies. But, reconsider the cost. You're looking at $10k into the engine minimum and more to integrate it and get things like AC and cruise working. Now add several thousand for a built trans and more for misc items. Upgraded cooling etc. combine $15 k into a 30 year old pickup that isn't worth much or worth much more with the mods and 6mpg and I'll presume you are just dreaming or talking tongue in cheek. You'd be better off dropping $25k on an old low mile diesel and wouldn't be out much more if any. not interested in a "newer" truck and wont own another diesel, it's a bolt in engine designed specifically for these old tow beasts.....and that's all Red is for now. Built by a specific Ford engine builder off a 460.

Better do something with the tranny or you'll be driving in a cloud of ATF. ZF5 manual

Found my replacement engine!

Introducing the new 502" EFI crate combo. 581 TQ @ 3,200 436.5 HP @ 4,600. This baby is READY TO WORK !!! We've been wrestling around with the idea of replacing Red with something younger and I just don't see the need. I can put that money into her and get basically a brand new truck that will out pull any new

I wouldn't shy away from another Ford if it was me. I got a lemon Aerostar van back in the 90's and had a heck of a time getting it fixed or getting rid of it. Every Ford other than that one, has been a reliable vehicle while the Dodge and Chevy's I've owned have made me walk.

RE: How are others facing issues with the Coronavirus?

I believe that the wife and I have already had it. About a month ago I had to go to the ER for a foot injury. A few days after that I got the cold form helll. All the symptoms they are talking about we had, I tried to hack a lung up for 4 days, and had over 2 weeks of wet coughing. I was forced to "shelter in place" due to my injury and am fine now. We are in southern california taking care of aging moms at present and the little senior park we live in is presently clear.

RE: Single Slide Truck Lean

cost me about $10 to fill DEF for 5000 miles. Sorry for those who can't afford it and breathe the gases. Such a humanitarian, and so humble! :S

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

“Not the size of the RV that makes it small” was told to me by my Uncle Donnie when I was looking for my first class A. If you knew my aunt Alice you would understand his wisdom. Some traveling companions could make a quad slide feel small. ;) My MIL!

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

Not much of a blueprint... 3 MHs in 5 years. Not implying it’s for everyone but only 30’ for public CGs is not true or even 36’. At 6’5” I’ve gotten out of many a car or RV when my head hits the ceiling. My point was that we had a 36' Moho already and it was more than we needed, half the storage areas were empty, and it had everything we needed for our style of RVing. And we're not real new to RVing, I've been doing it for 40 years now. This was our last Moho.

RE: Remco disconnect

Thanks for the answers. I still have the brake buddy from when we toad the CR-V behind the Moho, so brakes aren't an issue. We bought the Ranger with the plan to do a disconnect and be towed behind a Moho with the Harley in the bed

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

It bothers me when I read someone is going small because of staying in public CGs. What could go wrong with twice the husband, on half the money, and in 1/10 the space after 5 days of rain? We don't "stay" in campgrounds 95% of the time, except to dump and refill...boondock mostly (though I said that). We have been RVing since we were married mostly in Truck campers, so a 30' RV is GIGANTIC comparatively, and we like rain....soooooo. I made the mistake 20 years ago of starting at 36’ because of posts on here that 36’ is max for public CGs. Didn’t take long to realize that’s BS. After 2 years went to 40’ and then in another 2 years to a 42’ for 14 years and recently 45’. Buy more MH than you think you need...ONE TIME. Hahaha, what "works" for you is not a blueprint for everyone. I do not recommend 45’ for most but 40’ with a tag axle would be the best...plenty of CCC. Do you want to take something out every time you bring something in because you are over you GVW? with 3,000lbs of CCC....I will NEVER have that problem.

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

Better REALLY get along with your better half if you're gonna full time in a 30'. Not an issue, we did 7 weeks and 5,500 miles in the Truck camper without a problem. Plus we aren't "indoor" campers, and spend 90% of our time outside of the RV. That said, your plan seems ok but 1k of "stuff" doesn't sound reasonable. My wife's clothes weigh that much. I'd be naked....Dennis That figure is based on the measured weights of our RV's over the last 20+ years, truck campers, 5th wheels, and Moho's. They've all been around 1,000lbs of stuff including food, give or take 150lbs.

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

Great to see your Post. About a year ago we replaced the 5th wheel with a small(24 ft.) Class C. It's great-self contained-can go anywhere. Lars Hey Lars!

RE: Looks like we're comin back.

I think we've settled on something like the 30PDD or a floorplan similar. We don't want to go over 30" so we can visit all the National parks....(on the bucket list).... Wow, a 30" coach! Now that's small! We've done over 55,000 miles with this for over a decade now. So it will be HUGE by comparison. Besides, we're boon-dockers and it will be outfitted with a large solar/battery system.

Remco disconnect

We have a 2011 Ranger 2wd that is not flat towable, I believe this is my only option. Anyone using one of these? How do you like it and how easy is it to use?
