RE: Truck camper trade-in at dealer question.

They said they probably wouldn’t make much on it but they were going to honor the deal. I think I've heard this on every vehicle I've ever purchased!

RE: What is the most efficient way to bypass Chicago?

Not a fan of driving through any part of the Greater Chicago area. If it were me, I'd take I-39 south to US 24 east all the way across Indiana to Fort Wayne, I-469 around Fort Wayne and then pick up US 24 again to I-90 and on to Sandusky. I've done that route, and it is certainly less congested. But it does involve a large number of towns, cities, and stop lights. In a car it is okay, but in a big RV it can be tedious. I'd rather choose my time, and just bear with 294.

RE: US Hwy 412 across Arkansas & Oklahoma

Been a few years now. Tulsa was a bit of a hassle for me, poorly marked freeways. But 412 was ok, except the surface was bit chopped up if I recall. We were in a DP+toad. I stopped at Boiling Springs State Park, near Woodward OK. Out in the middle of nowhere, but we liked it.

RE: Arizona Hwy 89 ALT info please

The "drop-offs" between Fredonia and Vermillion are after you pass the exit to the North Rim. There's a long downgrade then. However, it is a good road, with shoulders, and the curves are not sharp. There are several viewpoint pullouts, also. It's no problem in an RV towing, as long as you control your speed. Plenty of RV's along that road.

RE: Day night shade replacement suggestions?

What size line, and can you recommend a brand? I usually have to restring my blinds annually... I used 60-70 pound test braided/teflon covered fishing line. A big roll at BassPro is under $15 and will do dozens of these. It is very strong, slides easily, and will resist the fraying at the joints that messes up the strings. There's several online videos of how to do it. Fussy, but once you do one, the rest are easy.

RE: Day night shade replacement suggestions?

Once you re-string the day/nites with something that slides properly (teflon covered fishing line) they work just fine.

RE: Best floor plan for 6 sleepers

If I had that many kids coming with us in the RV and wanted some privacy for the adults....I'd nix the Motorhome idea completely and start looking at larger 5th wheels or TTs Now you need a tow vehicle big enough to pull that beast, with seating for 6!

RE: Cleaning shower with grey/white "water spots".

I've had good success with CLR (diluted in water) and a gentle scrubby. But I'm intrigued by the EaZOff idea -- might be less work!

RE: Are Any Places To Stay Open Near Scottsdale Arizona?

There's also a couple of casinos over on the east side of S'dale -- though that doesn't fit your "away from the city noise" criterion.

Nobody has that one. EverThey don't make them any more.

RE: Are Any Places To Stay Open Near Scottsdale Arizona?

You might try Lake Pleasant Regional Park. Keep in mind that this is the busy time of year in those parts. I think they do online reservations.

RE: Tiffin Acquired by Thor for 300mil.

I await someone telling me of any RV manufacturer whose product quality improved by selling out to a bigger outfit.

RE: Recommendations for tire gauge?

All truck stops have them. Reaching the inner dually is sometimes difficult, requiring a particularly shaped gauge. (Old and lazy as I am now, I just go to Discount Tire -- they check them free!)

RE: Drive from Page AZ to Richfield UT

No issues at all. US89 is a good 2-lane road, lots of RV's run it every year. The last bit is I70. Not a problem.

RE: Blackstone 22" griddle for $99 at Walmart!!

Oh, and a well-cooked steak is supposed to be raw in the middle. Any other way is just roast beef. :) Steaks a grill has the edge but if you get the flat top rocket hot first, you can still make a real nice steak...and yes, rare to medium-rare is the way to eat steak...not sure why you added that. ...A previous poster had said: "expensive steaks looking good on the outside but raw in the center."Tell you what: I won't tell you how to eat your steak, and you don't tell me how to eat mine.

RE: membership

IMHO they're like FMCA. Main business is getting you to sign up and bring others with you.
