RE: Recommendation on 2nd AC

The only time we use our second AC is to initially cool down the 5w after set up. The other use is to run the bedroom AC instead of the lower one in the evening so we can heat the tv. So, convenient, but not necessary

RE: What do you use for an outdoor ground cover?

I feel bad for the OP, lectures instead of helpful advice. We used a vinyl loose weave mat whenever we had concrete or gravel patios, it deteriorated after a few years and was always a pain to fold and store. I plan to get a couple of small indoor/outdoor rugs and put them in front of our chairs. The original reason for the large mat was so our dog, no longer with us, could lay down with us. As you probably realize, you don’t want to put down a large mat on grass.

RE: RV At Dealer for 90 Days Now for An Awning Replacement!!!!!

We always use a mobile tech. Dealers are useless. We made the mistake twice of leaving it with them . One repair they lied about doing. Kept it for weeks. The second time we waited weeks and finally just told them to give. It back. Got a mobile tech from then on with no problems.

RE: Extended Dealer Warranty

We purchased the extended warranty with our purchase of our 2015 rig. We had no use of it until these last 2 years before expiration. We have had our frig door replaced, awning motor replaced and leveling system repaired. It helped but still didn’t make the initial cost of the warranty worth it.

RE: Replacing Blinds with Curtains for Warmth & Looks

I also replaced the blinds with curtains. Each of our windows has a box valance so I used small tension rods in each to hold the curtains so I can slide the curtains open.

RE: New 5th Wheel Driver

We had the 2012 King Ranch also, and we had a very comfortable ride towing our 5th wheel. I know of no way it could have been improved, since it was smooth and no chucking. It is well build for optimum towing. We no longer tow, the only reason for past tense.

RE: Question on 5th wheel leveling legs

Our 35’ fiver has only 4 levelers and it works fine. It is normal for the rear ones to hang a few inches below the bottom. Unless you had a third set of wheels, and the weight that carries, you don’t need 6. Ours is manual and auto. If the auto gets too many errors, we do it manually. Hope this helps!

RE: Smoke alarm

I find that hardwired smoke detectors are unnecessary and often PIA. Suggest you toss and buy an inexpensive battery operated combo fire/CO detector - you have to change the battery once a yr. No big deal. I agree. We did this too after being annoyed by the hardwired one.

RE: Minimum gate opening width needed for TT parking........

We have a 5th wheel and a 9ft wide gate to our backyard. We backed in very very slowly because the clearance is mere inches. Ours is adjacent to our house too, with roof of Rv same height as gutters. Talk about stress!! Our gutters have a few dents from the initial efforts! We did get good at it though!

RE: Will my trailer fit in this space?

We have a similar set up, plus our driveway to backyard was a couple hundred feet long. The first few times backing in with virtually no clearance on either side took a couple hours. No joke!! After a few trips we had it down to 30 minutes. We had to go soooo slowly making constant corrections. If I knew how to post a photo I would. I stood behind the backup camera and used hand signals. Our roof gutter on the house has a few dents as a souvenir to our early attempts. No damage to the fiver. Good luck, just takes a lot of,practice.

RE: I-40 Anything worth seeing

The only thing that I can think of---Keep checking your rear mirrors. Can’t agree with that. We saw all the places mentioned in this thread and had lots,of fun with our traveling companions. Stayed in Williams, took the train to Grand Canyon, saw Sedona, stayed in Amarillo, etc. As an Easterner, just the landscapes were amazing to us.

RE: Florida Plates; How to Prove We haven't Been There Lately.

The guy in that video above is a total moron. Unfortunately there are way too many out there like him. What video?

RE: Snow Birds ??

We are returning to our place in Florida in December as always. We are just as safe there as we are at home. Our fiver is already there. (It lives there)

RE: Slide Topper Awnings Will Not Fit

We have slide toppers and use our 5th wheel 4 months out of each year and have no problem with them. Rain water runs off and there is no problem of debris. Rather have them than climbing up to clean the top of 2 superslides and the bedroom slide. Makes rain storms a lot quieter too. JMO
