RE: The Unicorn (F350) and 27-FL have arrived

Very Nice!!! Looks like a properly setup Truck and 5er. Nice to see you have plenty of truck for the load. Nose is a tad high, I'm going to lower the hitch one notch. Truck was set for possibility of a larger 5th later down the road. I highly doubt we will go large, this model punched all the requirements.

RE: The Unicorn (F350) and 27-FL have arrived

Good lookin’ rig! When and where are you going on the first trip? Since I'm working from home... for now, we're heading to FL in about a month. First two weeks will be travel to and actual vacation in Key West. After that, we'll be near Tampa for several months.

The Unicorn (F350) and 27-FL have arrived

Truck was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had a in a long time. Friend was looking for the horn on the front, and called it a unicorn :) Anyway, the Artic Fox dealer was incredibly patient, did a most awesome getting us what we wanted, including following up and installing a fireplace that isn't a factory option, that my wife found. They liked it so much, they ordered 4 units, sold them almost immediately and placed another order. Glad I asked for clarification on the antenna/cable connections, because while they were trying to explain it to my dense brain matter, we discovered it had been miswired at the factory. 1st time owning and pulling a fifth wheel. I was dropped right into heavy traffic, accidents, and construction. I drove it for 3 hours, wife was going to drive for 2-3 hours, but got into even more construction and we didn't have a good option to switch. She drove an incredible 5 hours. Tired puppy she still is today. I drove the final 3 hours, through heavy rain, more construction. It wasn't our intention to drive all the way home, but we did. Here's my beautiful bride, our little S* Pap, the unicorn, and Love Shack III.

Mount for Cell Phone, GPS, and more

Installed the bullet point Mountain Solution in the F150. This thing ROCKS! Link Positive It is rock solid Works with most devices, if the device has an amp style connector, they probably have an adapter Shipped fast Looks good Comes with a "F" tool... I had to ask what it's for, to tighten the clamp Negatives Installation instructions are incomplete my 2022 Lariat F350 has the new 12" screen, and the bracket is a bit shorter than I'd like to see. With smaller screen, it's flush. No real impact After getting my order, I realized the extension I purchased for the GPS was too long. Exchanging it, I got charged 10% restocking fee. The negatives don't override the value the product brings to cleaning up instrument panel and windshield. I should have watched the entire youtube video a customer posted before tackling the project. I need to figure out how to mount the dash cam to it. They have a gopro mount, but my dashcam uses a crazy mount system I've never seen before. I'll cypher a solution after we get back home.

RE: What now??

Sorry for your loss. As said above, don't make any decisions now. Give it some time.

RE: Tonneau Cover

I ordered on of those roll up metal ones with the new truck. It will take up some space at the front of the bed, but it's also part of the reason to order a long bed

RE: 2022 Superduty launch delayed

Like watching paint dry... I hope this wait will be worth it. Ordered 3/15 Boneheaded move by the dealer shifted my order date to 6/5 deleted Adaptive steering Early July (indefinite delay) Finally scheduled late mid august rolled off line 9/6 spray in bed liner completed 9/16 Sat until 9/26 when I requested assistance from Ford to get it moving It was supposed to be trucked from KY to MI, but true to my frustration, it got put on a rail car. I have access to the rail movement status, and it's worse than watching paint dry. I have a new appointment to pick up the 5th wheel on Monday 10/11, and I suspect that will be missed. RV dealer has been freaking awesome through this whole process, but I've also kept him in the loop all along. I need to receive the truck Saturday morning to make the RV appointment... 700 mile drive one way. I sure hope this will be worth it. Our time is severely compressed to get ready for our FL trip in mid November. Having the wife basically stage everything we are putting into the camper, because I think it's going to come down to throw it inside and go. We'll straighten it out and organize later. Additional factors, we're having Morryde IS installed two days before we leave. Another factor, I'm still working... for now. I see the writing on the corporate wall, don't get the jab, lose your job. That won't impact our plans at all, but I'll have to turn in all my corporate stuff. Going to be hard to do that 1200+ miles from home.

RE: Best WIFI Hotspot

I use DirecTV now for tv. There is a tv on inside the RV almost all the time unless we're out sightseeing or shopping. I would like to go to one of the web-based tv services but I don't think we can stay within the constraints of use limitations. If or when there is a truly unlimited use option I will sign on and use it on the road and at home, Every unlimited data plan I read about will slow you down at some point, so that I can't use it for tv, especially when two or more TVs are on at once in the home. My OTR Mobile, unlimited does have a limit, but even working from home, some streaming, plus the other uses, never come close to the cap. IRC, the cap is 300 G.

Long route travel plans

Thinking ahead to next year fall time... I've always been about the destination, fastest route to get there. This is going to be a revolutionary change in my thinking. How are long trips that become more about the travel, planned? My thinking is leaving south central MI, going through the UP, across the top of the US wandering into Montana, then heading towards AZ. Would like to spend some time in quartzite as well as visiting a friend in Havasu, then wandering down to TX and maybe even all the way over to FL. Goal would be to return to MI in April/May.

RE: New wireless provider??

They all suck. Personal phone and OTR mobile hot spot, both on AT&T. Verizon work phone. One day one works and the other fails. Next day, switches. Have yet to go someplace where they both don't work.

RE: Can now run the A/C while boondocking

Honda eu2000i provides 2000 surge 1800 running watts. I elected to go with Westinghouse IGen 2500 provides 2500 surge 2200 running watts. No need for the micro air easy start. On my former travel trailer, the same generator would not start a 15k AC even with the charger turned off. I installed the microair and no problem. It will be interesting to see what will happen on my new 5th wheel!

Looking for an overnight stop S of Orlando

Heading to key west, and it looks like a stop south of Orlando is a good overnight spot. Boondock is fine, just a spot to crash for the evening.

RE: Navigation options

I have waze and a garmin 890. Truck nav is pretty much useless given the other two options. It does get interesting when they don't agree and I have I have to use that normally dead space between my ears.

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

When we picked up our new TT, my wife was the one front and centered asking questions. I kept my mouth shut unless I had a question, and she repeated it until she was comfortable. We'll go through the same routine with our 5th wheel, but we'll both be learning. Going to do a much better job of creating checklists this time around

RE: Why Choesterol is Biologically Important

I did a lot of research on Cholesterol after my doc put me on Lipitor after my dad passed. What I found was disturbing. . Study in Japan several years ago, the longest life expectancy occurred at a much higher level than what was being sold, IRC, it was 248. Back to my study. MD said don't pay attention to what you read on the internet, go read the actual study... and I did. I fired him! They wad one set of data used for side effects, and a completely different set of data for benefits. Mother in law was put on statins with a cholesterol level of 150. The impact on her mental capacity was remarkable. wife took her off the statins and it was an amazing transformation.
