RE: Towing with a 2022 Ford F250 7.3L

Ride "quality", especially empty, is worse on a F350. Ride should be the same between F350 and high capacity F250

RE: Towing with a 2022 Ford F250 7.3L

I run waze from my phone and garmin while towing. Two numbers you need to be concerned with, payload and tow wt. 250 should be fine for the trailer... however, you might consider high capacity tow package or 350 to tow everything except monster trailers

RE: Mechanics backed up for weeks all over?

Fried of mine with a brand new Ram dually, batteries are completely dead. His selling dealership can't get him in until 9/21. He found another dealer 25 miles away and paid for a flat bed to take his truck there. Even they said 3 weeks.

RE: New 5er coming

Thanks everybody. Part of rushing this trip home as I'm trying to save as much vacation time as possible. I am still working from home, and I'm hoping to leave a week earlier and maybe try and get into the keys for a few days before wandering back up to Tampa area, where we will spend the winter. On my last TT, the onboard water pump did not work, which we discovered on our first boondocking trip :( It was the only system we did not test. One of the reasons we picked this dealership that is further away, is because of their reputation. Because of the lateness with the truck delivery, We're going to struggle getting the trailer completely set up for our extended travel plans. I think it's going to be just the best we can do, and worry about getting things set up and organized once we get to FL. It doesn't help, my best friend is coming through the area the last weekend in Sept, and I fear the truck will pick that week to show up. Weekend after that is free, but I literally can't plan anything the following weekend due to a med procedure earlier that week. I'm blessed to have a wife that could tow the TT. 5er is new to both of us, so this will be interesting. She and I are both worried about how I'm going to handle retirement. I'm through and through project guy. I've also looked at every RV we have owned as a clean slate project :) For me, it's always about the destination, not the journey. It's getting exciting, not too much longer! We've only been looking at 5th wheels for about 5 years now.

New 5er coming

It's at the dealer, about 700 miles away, and my truck is scheduled to be built 9/8. Dealer is working with me to hold it until the truck is delivered. Original plan was to stay somewhat close to dealer for a day or two, in case I find something they missed. Looking at the drive home, and to avoid a major city, I'm looking at 11 hour drive home. With our TT, my wife and I were both comfortable enough we could stretch 11 hours. First time pulling a 5th wheel... not sure this is a good plan :( This means, I'm only going to spend one night near the dealer, or chew up an extra day of precious vacation time.

RE: Towing New Trailer

when it comes time to replace tires on TV, go with LT "E" tires. Huge improvement on tow experience.

Forcing Garmin 890 to a different route?

When I go to pick up 5th wheel, the fastest route will take me through a major metropolitan city that I want to avoid. Modified route will only cost me an estimated 30 minutes or so. How do I specify specific roads to travel?

RE: Towing with a 2022 Ford 150 3.5 EcoBoost

I didn't have the high capacity F150, but that little ecoboost engine did quite well on my GVWR IRC of 5,500. I get that going through mountains in TN and KY is not the same as out west, but with cruise control set, I gained a maximum of 5mph. Truck down shifted to keep the speed down.

Any use for portable 30a EMS on 50a Trailer?

I'm installing a hard wired 50a EMS in the new trailer, is there any reason to keep the 30a EMS?

RE: TPMS valve stems issue

Tire dealer said the metal valve stems they had wouldn't fit on my rims. They had a heavy duty valve stem, and it was heavy duty. I ordered the Ford trailer TPMS kit with my truck. I'm going to miss the TST temperature monitoring, but it will be one less device on top of the Instrument Panel.

RE: Transmission shudder

shudder is often friction plates that have absorbed moisture in the fluid. Sometimes, changing fluid will clear it up. Exactly, and that's what the wrong fluid was causing, moisture in what was supposed to be a sealed system. Transmissions are not sealed. They have a vent that allows the trans do breath as it heats up and cools down. Vent is above an OEM identified water line, which is determined based on how high water splashes when driven into puddles at various depths and speeds.

RE: Generators

Hi, Although it wont run the roof air, I'd suggest adding a modest solar panel system. One Honda will run a modified AC unit. Two Honda's will run one AC, or two modified AC's.

RE: Truck upgrade?

This isn't the best time to buy a new truck. Prices are climbing off the map... if you can find one. I've watched OEM's testing engines at redline, those engines were screaming.

RE: Help understand what's going on with emails

I read my emails from the providers server. This generally should avoid nefarious email content.

RE: AC Hard start additions

Heck even just the continuous running current of a 13.5K RV A/C is roughly 13A and in extreme hot weather can rise to nearly 15A. I measured amp draw of my 15k AC, and running watts was a whopping 1200, aka 10 amps. My 2500 watt generator had no problems once I installed Microaire Easy Start
