RE: Smallest RV anyone has full timed in?

I don't doubt I will be able to handle living in my 28'. I think it is more getting rid of all the stuff I've accumulated over all the years. I have gone through stuff several times and still need to go through them again to get rid of more stuff. It's the letting go that I am having difficulty with. We made a sudden decision to sell our house. Decades of collecting stuff, stuff from previous lives and marriages, stuff from both of our parents houses. Moved from 3,000 ft of floor space to 800 sqft that came fully furnished. One of the hardest things we've had to do. It got easier as we went along, but being on a time crunch helped force our hand. Neither of us are spontaneous, but the opportunity presented itself, and off to the races.

RE: Ford Option - TPMS and RV Camera

Yes, tire pressure monitors for the TT or 5er are nice. No repeater is necessary on my Silverado. Wouldn’t think Ford is different. Check Ford literature. I have aftermarket on my TT. It came with a repeater, but didn't need to use it. Ford integrated system would be a whole lot nicer.

RE: Complaints about Cost of Mhs vs Motels

People that make this travel decision based only on math, just don't get it. I don't vacation enough to make if financially justify itself to have even a TT, but here I am. I love nothing more than sleeping in my own bed and have my own creature comforts when I travel.

RE: Anyone good with A/V receivers?

There's been a tremendous shortage of receivers with limited choice. Low O2 wires is mostly a scam. Can you see the difference on high tech equipment, absolutely. Can most tell the difference, nope. Just like photography, in which the lens makes the difference, for audio, speakers make the difference. I had to give up my Infinity speakers, while setting up our new park model (add on living room). Just didn't have room for 4ft tall towers, or large on wall surround speakers. I went with mid range in wall speakers. It's amazing, even as deaf as I am, how much difference there is. For my TT, I have a 3.1 surround sound bar. I'll install a 5.1 sound bar speaker system in the 5th wheel. I love my big receiver and all if it's capabilities, but that's a lot of space and weight. My issue is finding something that can play all of my digital media. Heck, I haven't found a single solution in the homestead. Media computer probably comes the closest, but even that's not perfect.

RE: YouTube MP4 how to play on TV ???

Ford Option - TPMS and RV Camera

Ford offers this as an option. Are there any issues with TPMS on most new RV's? Specifically will the wheels accept it? Does it require the installation of a repeater? I'm assuming the truck recognizes the trailer TPMS just like the truck tires? It looks like the camera is a wired unit. Does the Ford system allow to watch the rear camera while driving? How difficult is the camera installation, and is it worth it?

RE: Buying a New RV

I have read many bad reviews of them. We went there mainly to look as their lot is huge. Their big store is real nice to in that you can see and put hands on spot of RV stuff. I am hoping to buy from one of our two smaller dealers. Carrying all that inventory costs money, and people often buy on impulse :)

RE: RV without a WD hitch

Seven hours is a long way to white-knuckle a bad setup. Can you wait a few days to get the right equipment? There should always be time for the right gear. White knuckle with a 1 Ton?

RE: water heater drain mod

Lots of engineering and contraptions being used... All I do is open my low point drains and then open my pressure relief valve to break the vacuum. The water drains right out of the bottom of my trailer, right where Jayco designed it to empty. Easy peasy, but most importantly... FREE. But hey, engineers like to justify themselves with gadgets. Good for them, I've ever even ridden on a train. That won't completely empty the WH. You can also flush out the WH when you pull the plug

RE: Propane tanks 10 years old, what is best choice ???

I have never seen an exchange program for any tanks but 20#cylinders. And yes for 20# I just exchange it. My 30# cylinders got recertified. I see a 30# cylinder is $65 on Amazon, I'd expect recert price to be more like $10. Exchange typically only gives you 15 lbs of propane.

RE: Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covid

We are still planning on heading south. We figure it is better to sit outside in the sunshine than be cooped up in the house. We will keep our distance and wear masks as we do here but need that vitamin D. Us too. DW does not absorb Vit D from food. She needs the sunshine, and since I'm working from home... Bad part, one of my stops at a friend's house is cancelled. They are fearing covid, and I respect their wishes.

RE: Dump Station Observations

Just as much fun as watching a busy boat launch. :) I used to waterski at least 3x per week during the summer. One the weekends I sat at a friends house across from the state park ramp. Didn't dare turn it into a drinking game, we'd be toast in an hour. The neighborhood private launch was steep, narrow, and literally a canyon down to the water. Not sure who I disliked more, the guy that used the literally canyon walls to let the trailer tires skid back on to the ramp, making it muddy, or the guy who didn't stop and let the water drain off a bit before soaking the ramp, which was shaded by trees... slippery algae growth. Ex wife and I had a routine anywhere but home, she couldn't see over the top of the tailgate to back the trailer up. Any other ramp she could handle. She'd put the trailer in the water, and I'd drive on the trailer and off we'd be. 15 seconds at most. One holiday weekend at her parent's cottage, we did our usual routine that we had done dozens of times before, she backed the trailer up, I drove the mostly flat bottom boat onto the carpeted trailer bunks, and honked the horn for her to pull out. Except this time, her speed across the cement bars that made up the ramp hit the natural frequency of the trailer suspension, and the boat slid off the trailer... right in the middle of the ramp, on a holiday weekend. How the mighty can fall :)

RE: Ordering a Artic Fox 5th Wheel

Are you thinking of Niemeyer Trailer Sales in MN? Niemeyer or Mike Jones in Ohio. Both have good reps, Niemeyer is slightly better... But Mike Jones is almost directly on my route to FL :) We are stopping at MJ on our way to FL in a couple of weeks. Our plan is to sell the TT early summer, after we've ordered the AF in March. I want the 5er before traveling to FL next Christmas, but after we get the 2022 SD :)

RE: Thanksgiving 2020

Thank you for your service and congrats on the number of turns! Father in law was on a navy destroyer during Korean War. 4 years ago we took him to our primary campground for their dinner, he loved it and wanted to go back. Unfortunately, that never happened. 3 years ago, he had a stroke right before thanksgiving. 2 years ago, he had a heart attack and cartaroid surgery day after thanksgiving. Last year he passed day after thanksgiving. This year was a blessing in the sense we were able to enjoy thanksgiving with our oldest daughter. But it was tough remembrance of his passing too.

RE: Ordering a Artic Fox 5th Wheel

Call and ask. They'll know better than we will. Real world experience beats lying dealers every day of the year. One dealer said 3 months Another 4-5 months Another 6 months. This dealer also put me in touch with a factory rep, who was straight up honest with me, stated 6 months, but added who knows what the election results will bring us come next year.

RE: Future Used RV Market

I have a fairly large RV dealer near me... their lot used to be RV's parked side by side by side... now they can barely cover the outside perimeter end to end. People are still buying. We're considering selling our travel trailer late spring, as we're likely going to get a 5th wheel late next year.
