RE: Tow or not to Tow

My husband and I have been camping for at least 13 years. Four years ago, we bought a Class C. We always tow our car along so we can go sightseeing or grocery shopping, etc. We are now planning on taking a month long trip from Pennsylvania out to the Grand Canyon and stopping at Mount Rushmore and other places in the North along the way home. Our question is this: Should we take our car or not? We don't want to feel like we won't be able to stop and see things but we aren't planning on staying anywhere for more than two or three nights so it seems like a hassle to have to unhitch for one night stays. We are planning on maybe just staying a night in a Walmart or other parking lots. We are also unsure of parking situations for a 30 foot RV at some of the sights and the terrain we could be driving on. A lot of flat land or mountains? So, we are looking for opinions from experienced RVers. Thanks for any advice or suggestions! when you are staying for a day or two try to get e pull thru site. meny campgrounds have pull thrus i wouldnt leave my car at home on a trip that long.. anything can happen take the car. with every thing goin on in todays world are walmarts that safe?

RE: Yellowstone and 30ft Motorhomes

Hi, We finally began our road trips for this year, and tried the 25 ft Class C Motor home last month. We are planning a trip to Yellowstone this week, and wondering if there will be any difficulty or challenges with a 30 FT Motorhome. This is our first time driving this far. ( from Salt lake City to Yellow Stone National Park ). Questions 1) Would you recommend a 25 FT and use the SUV to drive around the park ? 2) Would you recommend a 30 Ft Motorhome and leave the car back, and drive around in the Motorhome within and around the park. we went to yellow Stone with a 40ft. DP don't drive around in a 30ft mh use your car or suv. No place to park a large mh you will miss too much..try to stay at fishing bridge rv park it is in Yellowstone. You will love it. Would really appreciate your suggestions and inputs. Yuvi.

RE: I'm buying one (surprise)

cant help you find a repair shop if we dont know where you areI am not a trailer/camper/motorhome person, but with COVID going on, you can't even rent one of these things nowadays. So, when I came across one for sale today, I spoke to the seller and put down a deposit. It's a 2005 Itasca Spirit 24V, 26k miles, one owner. I know the tires are shot, but otherwise seller says everything works (but couldn't get generator to start, couldn't get water to flow, as it hasn't been used in a couple of years. I'm trying to find a local RV place to look at it on Monday, and I have a list of things to check from friends who own RVs. Anything else I can do to make sure I'm not making a big mistake here? I haven't even driven it, mainly going off the vibe on the seller, a retired doctor who used it for trips with his family. Any suggestions would be welcome. The engine and mechanicals are familiar to me as I had a F250 with the same V10 engine and I think transmission as well. It's the other things I know little about.

RE: 2008 Citation Chateau M26BE electrical issues

Cleaned ground (-) terminal and as long as I was at it, the positive terminal as well. Parking brake on, started vehicle with parking brake on - living room slide nor steps will work. Step are sitting in open position and slider is retracted and will not move. All fuses have been checked in the panel (on side of bed) and all are good. Voltage is 12.8V on the panel. Any other ideas? Thanks DaveSLIDE WILL NOT MOVE WITH MOTOR RUNNING

RE: 2008 Citation Chateau M26BE electrical issues

I just picked up my RV that’s been in storage for the winter and the step will not retract and the slider will not slide out. Both were working when it went into storage and Ive checked all the fuses. Wonder seeing that two things are wrong is if they are somehow connected and looking for suggestions what or where to look. Thanks Daveslide will not move with the motor running

RE: Diesel fuel additive for long term storage

I have a 2018 Mercedes Sprinter3500 with the v6 diesel and was wondering what is recommended in the way of fuel additive by you guys for long term storage. The fuel in the tank now is about 6 months old and with the appearance of the corona virus it looks like I'll be several months before the rv will be on the road again.the low sulfer fuel isnt as proned to the bacteria growing in it as the old fuel was.in the spring just change the fuel filter and your good to go

RE: Issues with Tow/Haul mode

Tow haul usage is one of the big discussion points just like the question used to be on what oil is 'best'. Yes use it if the vehicle is struggling against the wind, going up a long hill etc, but it really does not enhance fuel econmy as it locks the transmission in the lower gears not the higher fuel efficient ones. Once again its just a big flag for discussions. My class B+ only gets it turned on to pull out of uphill starting points or when I think I need a lower gear to move on. It also gets turned on when HEADWINDS increase and make the trans search to maintain speed. Even in colorado with it turned on the engine runs out of gasa and speed will slow to 35-45 mph on pulls. Lotsa dead throttle also. One recommendation is to get a mikes 5 star tuner for the rig as it does make the engine more civilized when it shifts under load. I have been reading on the new hypertech react throttle optimizer. Havent ordered yet but plan to prior to summer travels. There is another outfit forget who which has come out with a throttle optimizer, but I do know hypertech does put out good products. As to one with key, that is not normal so yes maybe kalif had bugs put in to cause it??i have Mikes 5 star tune in my c class we just got back from a 2500 mile pulling a 3500lb. car it worked fantastic. went through west tx, on I 10 to az. worked great i would suggest it to enyone who is having shifting issues call 5 star and have them right you a tune. kinda pricey but worth it. more power better millage. i went from 6.8 to 8.5 even got a 9 mpg on flat ground at 65 mph
