RE: How to tow & push BACKWARDS?

Put in the post but chain a pulley to it. Attach a cable to the front of the rv go through the pulley back under the rv and attached to your pickup. Now your pulling it in. This sounds too easy and sounds like the least hassle to geterdone.

RE: Watch That Diamondplate!

Back in the early 60's when I went to work for Standard Stations they taught us to remove all jewelry, especially rings, before working on batteries. I still take it off to this day.

RE: Bathroom on the road?

We have had a porta-potty for years. This year we added a pop-up shower tent. On day trips those and a plastic bucket of TP and hand sanitizer ride just inside the tailgate for day trips. Wife holds leash while I set pot on ground, pop the tent over it. How come your wife keeps you on a leash? :B That's funny. We have an Aliner and just pop it up to use the porta potty. Takes thirty seconds to open the trailer. Day trips, we too use a tent and porta potty. Both work well.

RE: Did you notice..........

Can't speak for any place else, but here in BC you cannot get a camping spot for love nor money. Anywhere within driving distance of a city is packed..and forestry sites..packed. any lake...packed....and any wide spot on a back road has a camper in it. The other thing...most of these campers are new to the game. And how did they become campers extraordinaire? They went and bought...everything and anything that will sleep people. Tents..tent trailers, trucks n campers, A, B, C's...and few (none) had the cash, so...debt. Like crazy debt. I am on an off-road camping FB page in BC and everyday, all day....where can I find camping? How do I get fresh water when camping in my new....? How and where do I dump? Gary HauptThere was another thread running, before it got sent to the Siberian prison camp of "around the campfire" that offered one explanation of why there are so many new people RVing. That explanation is they have had their normal vacation plans cancelled by travel restrictions and they are going to take a vacation come hell or high water. Contrary to the beliefs of a few on these forums, many, many normal average people have a lot of disposable income. They spend 10s of thousands of dollars on vacations every year. This year, those 10s of thousands are being spent on a camping trip, because what else can they do? Next year, the camping equipment will begin to rot away in the basement or storage building and they won't give a darn. If they bought an RV, a percentage will like it enough to keep it around, the rest will sell them for a loss, shrug their shoulders and plan their trip to Europe. Nothing new, been happening forever, people jump on the flavor of the day. See Beanie Babies, Precious Moments, trading Cadillacs for Pintos in the 70s, buying tulip bulbs in Holland during Tulip Mania in 1636. This too shall pass. The question is though, will it pass before I do?:W

RE: missing shore line

Me thinks the best advice would be to find a qualified RV tech and have it done by him. OP obviously doesn't understand the electric system (neither do I) and mistakes can be costly and even deadly. My .02

RE: Great experience with Roadside Assistance

I too have had nothing but good service from GS. Your experience echos my recent experience only mine was on hwy 108 east of Knights Ferry. Same professional service and stayed with us (via phone) until the tow truck arrived. Good job Good Sam.

RE: Roadside assistance

Thought I would re post this.Happened in Feb. this year and the service could not have been better, the only problem I had with this service call was because of my poor directions. "Need to post this as there are so many negative comments about GS RS. Yesterday my pickup broke down along hwy 108 heading to Sonora. I have Good Sam rs so I called then for assistance. Prompt answer to the call, professional agent asked if we were in a safe location. When I said I thought so on the shoulder of the hwy, she stated they do not consider that safe and would get someone dispatched quickly. Spend time ascertaining my location and after some confusion on my part dispatched a truck. After about 1 hour called to check if truck had arrived, it had not, again due to my poor directions. Agent contacted tow company while keeping me on the line, got my location corrected and truck showed up with in ten minutes. He was close by looking for me. They would tow me to nearest repair facility but I wanted to go close to ho,e. I paid the difference which I considered more than reasonable and brought us home. I was not going to renew because of the bad reviews but will renew GS today, even at the $119, it's a bargain. Thank you Good Sam for good service."

RE: My perception on real gas

I find if I just wash the windshield I can see further down the road. Somehow I therefore must be getting better mileage.

RE: Overnighting on 6 HWY Neveda

Stayed at the "Little A'LE'INN" in Rachel om hwy 6 many years ago. They actually had about three or four RV spots out back of the restaurant. Kinda eerie tho:E Don't know if they still have those spots.

RE: potty without the rv

Thanks to all who responded and will still. Some humorous and some helpful. We're talking about driving in our car or truck, not wanting to tow the Aliner every where we go when the (#2) urge hits an 89 year old woman so most of the do "it bury it" aren't the solution I'm looking for, maybe there isn't one. Anyway, i had a good laugh at some of your replies but then I suppose it "depends" on ones sense of humor. Happy day to all, hope everyone has a great new year. Lee

potty without the rv

Not sure where to post this but wondering what folks do when traveling on remote roads with few or no bathroom facilities available and a sudden urge to p*%p strikes and the need is urgent. We find the older we get the more this develops into an emergency. Situation. Would you haul around a small pop trailer (like an Aliner)? We can't be the only people that have this happen, how do you handle this? I know some will find humor in this but for some this is a real world problem. I thank you in advance. Lee
