RE: Goodbye old friend, You will be missed

It is so very hard to loose a pet who has become a family member. Keep in mind that Abby was a very lucky dog to have been loved and cared for for 19 years....and she knew it!

RE: Touring British Columbia

Focusing on riltri's question, I have a couple of questions of my own, to narrow things down. Riltri, what sorts of things do you enjoy? Are you a hiker? A biker? Do you like to spend several days in one place, or do you like to move your campsite frequently? One more random observation: DW and I have done a lot of traveling in North America. The Canadian Rockies, from Peter Lougheed in the south to Jasper in the north, are the most spectacular mountain range we have ever seen. We are very active.....enjoy hiking, white water rafting, run almost daily once settled into a park and touring historic sights. We will have a 70lb dog with us. Prefer to find 4 locations to use as home base for a week each.

Touring British Columbia

We are considering taking our 5th wheel to British Columbia next fall (2021). We have never been there, so we are starting our trip planning from scratch. Once there we will have about 4 weeks to explore. Suggestion regarding resources, literate, personal experience, etc will be greatly appreciated!!!

Jacking up 5th wheel?

When you jack up your 5th wheel do you: - place the jack under the axle between the hanger u-bolts - jack up the frame - use a ramp to drive the good tire onto - other...please explain

RE: Another GS roadside FAILURE

I have only had one incident where I called GSRA. They could not find anyone to assist us, so I found someone and got the work done...wheel replacement. I then contacted GS and explained the situation to the rep. To make a long story short, GS reimbursed me for 100% of the bill (excluding cost of the wheel) which is far more than I expected. She stated that since I had to handle myself, she would approve the entire labor cost.

RE: Opinions on 5th Wheels with Island Kitchens

Our Coachmen Brookstone 305RL has a center island. We both love it. Our old 5th kitchen was L shaped. We like the island more.

RE: Why put the fridge in the slide out?

Weight is not an issue. But, putting it in the slide-out prevents the refrig from being vented properly....out the roof. Instead, it is vented out the side which can lead to overheating and cause the refrig to shut down/not work properly. If this does happen to you, installing fans in the exterior vent to draw the heat out works well and only cost $150 - $250.

RE: One tire wearing unevenly

Damaged spring perch, bent spindle, bad wheel. An alignment shop that does trailers should be able to find and fix problem, Thanks!!

One tire wearing unevenly

Our Coachmen Brookstone 305RL 5th had been wrecked when we bought it. Appears that it ran off the road and axle broke/bent. The bottom of the passenger side frame/I-beam is dented/turned up but I don't thing the frame is bent. We have pulled it over 12k miles and the tire that is directly behind the dent is becoming slick on the outside. This is the only tire that is wearing. The tires were balanced before mounting. The axle was replaces so it can't be that the axle is bent. Any ideas why only one tire would wear?

RE: Uneven side-out extension

Looks like a Schwintek slide. If so, they have two motors, and they can be sometimes sychronized by holding in the operating switch after the slide appears to be opened or closed, for about five seconds. You will hear some motor/movement noise, but that's okay. Lippert customer service is reported to be excellent, so getting them on the phone might be helpful, too. I actually tell customers to hold the button for at least 15 seconds. This makes SURE they have held it long enough. What the OP needs to do is, EXTEND the slide and when it seems like fully extended, HOLD the Pushbutton switch for that 15 seconds. IF resynching the motors will fix his problem, he will actually see the one side go out that extra 1.5 inches. The basic rule is, IF one side is off that 1.5, then when retracted, the other side will NOT be fully retracted by that 1.5 inch. If this does NOT fix his problem he needs to verify, that the slide IS sealed correctly even tho one side is off that 1.5 inches. IF it is sealed both IN and OUT, then he has no problem. Doug Thanks for the advise. I closed the slide slightly then extended it holding the button down 15 seconds after the motors appeared to stop. This did not fully extend one side. When closed there is a tight seal on both sides but when extended the 1.5" gap remains. I good with mechanics but this one has me puzzled.

Uneven side-out extension

When closed our bedroom slide-out closes flush on both sides. When opened, one side extends 1.5" further that the other side. 5th wheel is level. What can cause this? 2015 Coachman Brookstone 315RL

RE: fuel additives

My company runs 3 diesel delivery trucks. We always get 350k on the motors before selling. Probably had 10 over the last 15 years...GM, Ford, Mercedes, Isuzu. Never a single issue with the motors (knock on wood) and never a drop of additive. ETA: the only mechanical issue we ever had was on a Ford. The fuel tank lining dissolved and gummed-up the fuel system. Had to have it rebuilt with ZERO help from Ford. Absolutely the last Ford we have purchased/leased.

RE: Route from Phoenix to Florida

You would need to reverse the route that we took to Monument Valley (easy to adjust for your start point) to avoid Dallas/Ft Worth.....no regrets. I-75 N to I-10 west At Mobile take 98 to Hattisburg 49 to Jackson I-20 to 69 at Tyler, TX & to avoid Dallas/Fort Work continue on 69 to 82 west at Denison, TX 287 at Wichita Falls to I-40 at Amarillo to Albuquerque to Gallup, NM (plenty of secondary roads to take to avoid Albuquerque if you want) 264 to 191 north to Kayenta, NM then 163 north to Monument Valley, AZ

RE: Bonehead Blunder, I'm an idiot!

Do you have the pin? Are you certain that no one pulled the cotter pin while you stopped somewhere. I was pulling a U-haul trailer to move my daughter from college. Towed 200 miles to her new apartment the first day. The next day, I checked everything twice before leaving to head home. I stopped for lunch at a Taco Bell. Some A-hole pulled the cotter pin while I was eating. About 50 miles later, the trailer took off down thru a field. No injuries or damage but people do that type of thing for "laughs".

RE: The Home Depot is my new Amazon

I avoid Amazon as much as possible. HD, Walmart, Harbor Freight....there are lots of alternatives.

RE: Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covid

Early Nov, we dropped off the RV at our lot in Steinhatchee, FL and came back to the NC High Country for the holidays. Head back to FL for lots of fishing the first week of January. No way I'm staying in this dreary climate all winter!!

RE: A traffic mess in Moab

We were there 10-20 until 10-25. We drove up/down 191 thru the construction 6 times at various times of day. Never more than a 15 minute delay. The construction appears to be no where near completion.
