RE: water water everywhere but not a drop to drink!

It’s is a simple solution to a Boondockers dilema! The folks who must have a shower every day may be the reason that our planet is becoming more and more polluted! If you grew up in the 19 thirties, fourties and the early fifties , there were no Daily Showers ,as a matter of fact in some households a weekly Bath for a family often involved taking turns using the Galvanized Tub by the Kitchen Stove sufficed! I can’t recall anyone dying from having a bath! Of course we did not drink the water and nobody brushed their teeth while having a Bath! Obviously I’m one of the survivors!

RE: Easiest snowbird route from Seattle to Phoenix in January

In 20 Years we have only ever had to skip a day due to snow on I5 at Ashland! Vancouver Island to Sunshine and Warm weather!

RE: Anyone use "Get Upside"?

We recently shopped at a Grocery Store who’s Name would lead you to believe that they would be lower priced. We went there because we had some Air Miles Gift cards! The prices in the Store were really ridiculous and even though we had these points provided e coupons I felt entirely ripped off! Thrifty Foods Equals Bull **** when it comes to price!

RE: Step carpet

They do look good! One thing though about those carpets ,the metal Steps will actually Rust and Dissolve much faster when they are carpeted!

RE: Getting couch out of 5th wheel?

Most everything that is inside an RV can fit through the doorway! It’s really just a matter of solving the puzzle! And Yes some stuff does come apart and bolt back together!

RE: Tow Dolly VS flat tow

I’m reasonably mechanically inclined and as such have installed multiple Tow Bars And Baseplates on various vehicles over the last 20 or so years! I can see that many people are uncomfortable installing their own hardware and that’s alright ,we can’t all be the same. I have also observed that finding a place to Store a Tow Dolly and the effort involved attaching the Towed vehicle onto those things appears to me to be just as difficult as installing and connecting any Tow Bar! Now I am reading that they are only reliable for a couple of years !

RE: Shaw Direct in Mexico?

Shaw Direct have been telling us this was going to happen ! There are apparently Thousands of Canadians and a few Hundred Americans plus or minus who have been enjoying watching Canadian Television while living or wintering in Mexico for the last 20 or more years. Will they actually pull the plug or what ? I only wish that someone from Shaw Direct would jump in and confirm or deny !

RE: Ford Questions

Usually the two or three Retainers are just push on pull off lug nut caps. I’ve never seen any that required a wrench. Your 19.5 Wheels simulators are actually held to the steel rim by the exposed lug nuts. Mine had 10 Lug wheels! It was a Deere Chassis with a Ford 460 Engine!

RE: Water heater replacement with coolant lines...

I had to bite the bullet when changing out mine! I actually didn’t make to big a mess ,caught 90 % of the fluid in an old towel. I prepared for the deed by purchasing a brass coupler and hose clamps I couldn’t find a correct replacement tank so went with what was available at the time . As a result I no longer have an engine heated water heater. I simply installed the brass connector between the hose ends. Am currently considering installing a radiator style heater similar to what’s under the seats in school buses to augment the forward heater in the cab utilizing that handy loop of engine coolant!

RE: building new campground

You might be able to test the waters so to speak by joining Boondockers! No immediate income but this is the type of location many would be attracted to !

RE: Need Flat Panel TV mounting advice

One thing to keep in mind .Regardless of how your Television is mounted ,if it can move it can vibrate loose. Most wall mounts feature an easily used release bar or a couple of screws to secure the two parts of the mount. If possible unlatch and store the TV on your bed. I have also found that adding some pipe insulation in the appropriate locations helps to cushion the movement. And use some Locktite or Crazy glue to secure those Nuts and bolts!

RE: Modifying an RV toilet to fit your RV

Those toilet flanges can sometimes be repositioned. The other trick is to use a drill and a Dremel tool to grind some new bolt positions in the existing flange. You may need to use some Original JB Weld to beef it up a wee bit.

RE: Towing a Honda CRV

I made up a toggle switch and in line fuse on ours! It wasn’t hard to design and wire, but getting that fuse out was a royal PITA ! Whoever decided that was a good location for a fuse panel needs a slap on the Head!

RE: Starter will not turn over

Did you turn the mechanical isolator Switch off when installing those new batteries? It should be turned back on now. Or is the Use and Store switch turned to off? Have you tried to use the boost feature? Just ideas!

RE: Vehicle Size Issues at Border Crossings

I did have an issue at Lukeville several years back because I was directed into the extreme right hand lane. The last couple of years it has been a straight or nearly straight line through with no issues.

RE: Vehicle Size Issues at Border Crossings

We learned years ago that the best crossings into Mainland Mexico for those of us from the western part of Canada and the US are along the Arizona section of the Border . We usually go South through Nogales and North through either Nogales or Sonoyta/ Lukeville. We use the Mariposa Truck Lane at Nogales which is pretty much a straight line with only a gentle sweep left then right as you pass the American Inspection point. For return Nogales can be congested so Lukeville is our preference!

RE: Wagon Masters

I keep getting the invitations Paul ,but apart from possibly visiting some areas that we have not yet visited it has not much attraction to Us!

In search of a heater !

This isn’t a commercial, but rather a request for links or websites where I might locate some sort of heat transfer device that I can install in place of the engine heated portion of a now replaced water heater to heat the inside of my Motorhome while underway! Long story short. I replaced a wonderful Ten Gallon Water Heater which had a copper coil that circulated Engine Heat to the Fresh Water Heating tank with a less costly Gas Only 12 Gallon Water Heater . The resulting Supply of Engine heated Water is just running through a rubber Pipe which is really a waste! What I would like to do is add in line and under the Kitchen counter a Bus Type Heater to provide an easily controlled heat source to the main living area of the Motorhome. I can’t seem to find a ready source for this type of heater!
