RE: Overnight location - 1/2 way to FL from MA

RT95 exit 104 just north of Richmond. Flying J on both north and south side. We prefer the southbound side. We use 301 to get there avoiding Balt/Wash.

RE: travel concerns

We made the 301 south trip every Dec 25 for the past 10 years. Again this year. Over night in a Cracker Barrel closed for Christmas, with coffee and breakfast when they open the next morning. We stop at one or the other Flying J's at the 95 entrance #104. The older of the two on the southbound side is friendlier for big rig rvs. Lots of red light cameras.

RE: Cleaning top of slideout

Clicky- hose attachment I have one of these for cleaning gutters at home and if I didn't have awnings on my MH slideouts it would be a traveling tool.

RE: Good thing bad thing

Air Admittance valve CLICKY This is OEM under my sinks in both bath and kitchen. I stayed with it because of limited clearance above the valve. I change them out at the slightest hint of odor. Amazon has many levels of quality and design. ACE,HD,Lowes,Menards,Canadian Tire and the like. They are designed to let air into the drain pipes when you open your sewer lines to dump. If they were not there the vacuum would suck out the protective water seal in the "P" traps. I don't recommend Leaving the grey sewer open until ready to dump.

RE: Need Good Sources for Quality Bulk Solar Cable

14 years ago when I installed my panels I used marine grade 10 ga from West Marine. As I learned more over the years I would use 8 ga next installation. The store I used had all the tools and connectors for DIY build use in the store.

RE: Built in vs. Stand-alone GPS?

My 2012 built in Magellan is no longer eligible for updates. It gets less useful every day. My Garmin RV770 sits in front of it nicely.

RE: Wilson Cell Booster?

See if I understand: I have an OEM omni antenna on my roof that my one and only WeBoost amplifier is connected to while in route. At destination the pole gets setup and the WeBoost directional antenna is turned for best target cell tower. The same coax but there might be an old Wilson adapter in there somewhere.

RE: Garmin GPS

Garmin RV770 Two years. 25000miles use, in RV and in toad. Highly recommend. Also have the Garmin 65W dash cam which is awesome. Garmin Express easy to use and makes updates a snap. The Stop light/speed camera subscription for around $26 dollars a year can be very entertaining if not useful when you drive like I do.

RE: Jump starting the generator

Could you have started the genny first and then the engine? Would that have been any easier? They both draw from the same chassis battery so jumping would be the same. Don't know why switches are involved in the jumping process.

RE: Operating on a 20amp circuit

Yes it is doable. Basically you just need to keep your converter/charger on to supply the batteries. The heater fan is your biggest load in your scenario.

RE: Onan Gen--hard starting and surging

You might find that filter below the carb has been discontinued. There is another on the fuel line just before the fuel pump on the lower backside.

RE: Why no continuous furnace fan option?

The air flow from the fan moves the sail switch that tells the furnace that it is ok to release propane and start the igniter. Not an expert but that is my simple understanding. Somehow I don't think having that safety feature open or not functioning is not advisable.

RE: Postal code

Just spend 3 months in Vermont this past summer and every pump I used had instructions posted on it on how to workaround US Zip requirement. Sorry TMI for me so I don't know what the poster said. Also surprised to find a couple stations/pumps that did not ask for ZIP...?
