RE: Private property parking

Impressive, that's a lot of eggs! We too have predators and two runs but both are night secure. Had a day pen once but the worry of entry wasn't too much so rebuilt the second run larger. Enjoy your time away, someone will step up. rocmoc n AZ

We're not giving up on Mexico yet. Maybe a year or two but we will return. Still have a few places on my bucket list in Mexico. rocmoc n AZ

RE: Private property parking

This is our solution to the same problem with our chickens AND rabbits. Get automatic waters (about $30 for chicken water) and extra large feeders (for the chickens about $30). We normally have 6-8 hens and the chicken feeder last at least a month or more. The water needs to be cleaned out at least once a month but could wait until you get home. So, one of our local friends come and collect the eggs every other day and get to keep everything while we are gone. They also get free eggs as needed when we are home. The auto waters and larger feeders are worth the purchase just for my own time saved on a daily basis. Both can be ordered online or purchased at your local feed store. No one will know you are gone or no newbie will be coming on your property when you are not there. LOCK the GATES and give a key to your egg collecting friends. Gates are always closed and look locked anyway. Good luck! rocmoc n AZ

RE: Fuel Prices are WAY Down!!

Under 13 in much of Sonora Saw fuel for $1.29 in New Mexico. Many states have Diesel for $2.25 a gallon. Fuel prices are meaningless when you cannot go anywhere. Moisheh AGREE, I have three full tanks but can't get out the front gate of the property!!!! rocmoc n AZ

RE: Another good road report

LOL, had to be. Not many people would take a 42' fifth wheel into Mainland Mexico. Take care and glad you were there for them, they were in between a rock and a hard spot. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: The first fewDays !

Were there a couple of weeks ago. Yes, south road is in good condition. Just a few semi-rough spots to watch for. The no-see-ums are really bad this year. Deet will not work. A new product (a couple of years old) by Coleman with an European repellent does. We have used it on two trips down and we were the only ones with just a couple of bites while everyone else was covered with bites. Coleman SkinSmart can be found at Walmart in USA for around $6 USD. One can will last a week on a single person. We tried to find it South of the border on earlier trip when we started to run out but without success. Get it before you cross into MX. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: TIP problems

I didn't say that they were stopped at km 21, they said that they were notified that the TIP had been cancelled. Other people said they had been denied TIPs at km 21. I will be crossing at Lukeville on the 25th pulling my 5th wheel so I will be finding out if they are stopping 3/4 and 1 ton pickups at San Emiterio. If I am denied there, I'll continue on to San Carlos and will try Empalmy. If I get denied there, I may go back to Tucson and try at the Mexican Consulate. Still haven't heard of any one who was denied pulling an RV or a slide in camper. Worse comes to worse, we'll spend the winter in San Carlos. If you do go to Empalmy, you still have to get your FMM / at least stamped at the border. It has been a few years but we were with friends that had not gotten their FMM at the border and they would not issue an TIP without it. At that time they did not issue a FMM so our friends had to go to the Guaymas Airport, pay a fine and get the FMM there. Could have changed because it has been a few years. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

RE: Albuquerque Balloon Festival Questions

We went last year. Camped in the festival grounds South of the Festival. Somethings to beware of - People ran their gens ALL of the time from before 5am and after 10pm (people pushed the quite time rule), we had more fumes and exhaust then driving in rush hour traffic, It is crowded, big time like New York Time Square on the balloon field no matter how early you get there, big lines at everything (food, entrance, etc.), Weather can be freezing or boiling hot & Wind shuts the whole thing down. Glad we did it ONCE, removed from bucket list! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

RE: Travel to Guadalajara

Get your TIP and FMM online at https://www.banjercito.com.mx/registroVehiculos/# and https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html# TIP arrives in 11 days or less and can be purchased up to 60 days before you cross. Just place on your windshield and sign the paper back it came on. FMM can be purchased 14 days before crossing and prints out on YOUR printer. You have to stop to show ID and get it stamped. NO money exchanges other than what you pay online. Much easier. Hwy 54 is a beautiful drive but there are some narrow and steep sections as you near Guadalajara. We did it pulling a 37' fifth wheel with no problems, just don't hurry. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
