RE: Border

Recent interview from the Toronto Star: "Testifying on “threats to the homeland” before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Mayorkas would not directly respond to queries from Chairman Gary Peters, a Democrat from Michigan, and Sen. Maggie Hassan, a Democrat from New Hampshire, about the reasoning behind barring Canadians who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from driving to the U.S. Mayorkas also signalled the fate of the northern border may be tied to that of the U.S.-Mexico border, where the federal government currently enforces strict asylum and entry restrictions amid record-high migration levels." rocmoc n Th SouthWest

RE: Border

As I said before watch the Southern Border USA immigration issue. Until there is some resolution, the border will remain closed via CDC covid health order. Again local Network News reports are not good about problems on the AZ/MX border. The border is going to closed until 2022 or later unless there is a successful court challenge to the CDC Order. OR US Congress takes up the immigration issue, which maybe never. AND CDC can't justify closing one border without closing the other. That is real life in the USA! rocmoc n Th SouthWest.

RE: El Paso: border restrictions possibly lifted late October

Not going to happen. Here in Arizona we are having more illegal crossings and drugs than ever. Things are tight in Nogales area currently. Has not been a word in the local News except problems. rocmoc n Th SouthWest USA

RE: Border

Has to do with illegal migration from the Southern Regions. Trying to stop people attempting to enter USA side-stepping legal migration processes by using the Covid Pandemic as the basis of the closure. Legality of the action by the CDC to close the border would to called into question if the border was opened for other use. Canada is as side issue, how can you close one border without closing the other? MHO! rocmoc n Th SouthWest USA

RE: Travelling is not getting easier

In line with OP post, we are hoping to make it down Baja this winter. Hopefully the booster will be ready by then as will not go without it. If we don't make it down, we will play around the SouthWest in a few places. Since we are already here, just have to go out the front door and get the toys out. WE are wearing double kn95 mask and never stopped. We never changed any of our safety measures, just felt safer after our jabs. We have made one RV/MH shake down run in SouthEast Arizona a week ago as the rig was in the garage for over a year. Before that just start it up, move outside, let her run for 30-60 minutes including the gen and moved back in. On one of the start/runs, spotted cracks in the tires so a full set was installed. Next thing is the start batteries are weak so they will be replaced. If you have not been out, take a shake down run to make sure your rig is ready to go. Enjoy everyone, it is as good as it is going to get for a long while. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: Generators!! Yes YOU!

Solar is simple: Panels are the wall socket, solar controller is just a fancy battery charger and the batteries are batteries. Not hard to learn how to fit the pieces together. Then just slap on a couple of leads / wires from the batteries to an inverter and you have 110v. That said we only use the gen on cloudy days to top of batteries as we do have solar (was a lifestyle choice as most never recover the investment), overnight at a noisy location (not often but it happens, rest area, Wallyworld & etc) and if a heat wave comes in and turns our comfortable RV into an oven. I don't care for the smoke from the campfires many seem to be drawn to when they camp so I shut the windows, start the gen or move on down the road. Too many places to visit / stay to be overly concerned about a camping neighbor who has different values and rightly so even if I don't like it. Just move on down the road! rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: Gas Vs Diesel Yah-Yah-Yah!

Have had all of the them. It is a lifestyle choice! Like generator or solar, sat or streaming, light beer or reg beer and on & on. We have a diesel pusher now and happy but were happy when we had the gasser and a 5er. Get what you can afford and have enough money to use your RV. Too many people over-extend on the purchase then can't afford the traveling. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: Border opening?

I always heard it was closer to 80%. When we traveled around all our campground mates were Canadian. Sure a lot of Mexico plated cars & pickups north and southbound on I19 in Arizona. (road between Nogales & Tucson) Does not seem much of a slow down of crossings here. Friends who have walked across said it took at least 1 1/2 hours to cross back North into AZ. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

RE: Travel from Manzanillo to Playa Azul on the coast route

Have done this drive with a 37' Toyhauler Fifth Wheel. We only had two problem, hidden tope (blew an air bag on the pickup so now have spare) and the hill going into Rancho buganvillias RV park near the entrance (shifted into 4x4). Beautiful drive, great food and owners of park were the best(is it still Cindy & her husband). The park did have no-see-ums and after 11 days of bites we moved on. Have to go to nearby El Fargo for swim and incredible beach food & experience. Don't leave valuables in car. rocmoc n AZ

RE: No Dispersed Camping Near Crested Butte, Colorado

We are slowly losing land use in the same fashion as did in Cali. Was in Cali in the 60s when you could still drive a dune buggy on the street as well as the dirt. Then came the green stick on my bike and moved into OHV areas. Just look West to see the future. rocmoc n AZ
