RE: Steel vs Aluminum Wheels

Here is picture of a cracked aluminum wheel. Tire was still inflated. Wheel had to be replaced. My MH had Aluminum wheels. Lot less problems than SS liners.

RE: Steel vs Aluminum Wheels

Some things to check when putting 2 aluminum wheels on each side of rear axle. 1. Are the mounting studs long enough for the thickness of 2 aluminum wheels? 2 . Does pilot hub of axle stick out far enough to properly locate wheel on center? 3. Will 2 aluminum wheels affect location of outer wheel be offset to far?

RE: easy place to get gas

Our Sams Club has the cheapest gas around. laid out similar to a costco. As others have suggest. Use and search out your fuel stops. They also have APP's. While truck stops may not be the cheapest fuel. They are generally the easiest to get to when traveling Freeways. We also used a book called the Next Exit Their site shows they now have a APP for the book.

RE: What are you paying for oil changes

Buying 11 gallon of Rottella T would be about $140. Filters could add up to another $100. Plus labor. Have you checked Speedco.

RE: Electric hot water

If breaker was tripped. I would suspect a shorted out heating element.

RE: what to tow

You can check EBay and Craigslist too for used. I’ve seen toads ready to tow. Old Saturns were towable go for $2500. Chevy Captiva Sport was the replacement for the 2008 to 2010 Saturns. They were available from 2012 to 2015. Towed our 2012 for 5 years with no problems. Blue OX is the only base plate that will fit the Captiva Sport. I wanted a Jeep. But my wife cannot get in and out of them.

RE: What do you have?

We had a Super C on the GM Kodiak chassis. Great MH for us. Put almost 100K miles on it in 11 years. The 35' size was good for us. That gave a 27' box to live in. 2 good sized slides helped a lot. Today most of them are on the International or Freightliner chassis. I would do it again. The truck chassis MH's are easier to work on. With plenty of power. GM has released the 4500 and 5500 cutoff chassis. May see some Super C's on it in the future.

RE: Replacing thermostat for gas furnace only

While looking at the igniter. Check the connection on furnace control board. I needed to use some contact cleaner on the board where a wire connector attaches to the board.
