RE: Happijac motors

I do have the newer jacks. I replaced them with the 4800 last year. That might be part of the problem. I like how the new jack and motor works but not being able to flip in the jack on the passenger side will be a problem when it goes. For right now I will put the new ones in the rear.

Happijac motors

So one of my motors went out on my Happijac. After being told that it would work with the old motors I got two. One for the replacement and one to have on hand. It works well. It is quieter than the other jacks and I think it faster than the older ones. I was just finishing up putting the camper on the truck when I looked up and realized that I would not be able to flip in the dually bracket because of the height of the motor. The things you forget to ask or course they don't make the other ones any more so I will use it. I will move the back motors to the front and use the new ones on the back. That being said any ideas for making the motor work with my lower overhang. It needs about 4 inches more clearance between the top of the motor and the camper overhang. If I drop the jack down it will be more of a hazard. Driving with the jack open on the driver's side I do a lot but on the passenger side makes for a lot more blind spots.

RE: Bedding in overhead beds in T/C

I have a topper. I pull the end of the topper to me and then put the fitted sheet on. Then let it flop back. I throw the top sheet and blankets to the top and stuff in the amount I would like at the foot. The bed isn't neat but it is made. I have lots of blankets as I go from hot to cold to hot again.

RE: Purchasing Warped Roof 1997 Bigfoot 2500 9’6”?

Twice I have had my stairs trap the door shut and have had to climb out the escape hatch on the side. It works but you must go out feet first, step on indent at the bottom of the window on the crew cab and then slowly lower till you find the jack foot with your toe. From there grab the top of the jack with a death grip and step off to the running board. The second time the crew cab window was open so was a lot easier. Always make sure your steps don't shift on you. One time it was the snow and the other time the dogs were tied at to the jacks and they moved it. Lots of fun.

RE: Purchasing Warped Roof 1997 Bigfoot 2500 9’6”?

My 99 Bigfoot has a slight dip in that area and it hasn't caused a problem. Looking at the sealant around the other intrusions, they look like they need to be cleaned off and replaced. Also the tank vent doesn't have the vent caps on it. The vent cap helps prevent water between the camper and the vent. Bigfoot has a specific roof coat. It's not hard to do. I had a harder time getting the right stuff. I would buy it if it was what I wanted. I love my Bigfoot and when it needs expert repair I take it back to Vernon, BC to a little shop that repairs them.

RE: Jack Misbehaving

I am going to order a new motor. I like having one on hand and I used the last one last year. In the weather we have I like having an extra. If it does it again I will swap motors or replace. Thanks again for all your help

RE: Jack Misbehaving

I'll clean it and change the fuse. Should I do anything other than can air to clean it?

RE: Jack Misbehaving

It doesn't look like it. The cover was in place and it looked pretty clean. I was wondering if it could be a sign that the fuse was about to go. I replaced the board and remote a year and half ago. It is a happijak 4800. The jacks were replaced 3 years ago. The motor on that side is older.

Jack Misbehaving

So yesterday I am in the process of unloading my camper and of course I'm at the highest it needs to go, when one rear jack stops working. It wasn't making any sound. I managed to complete the unloading process by stopping every so often and manually working the jack. After I got it down I checked the fuses in the camper. The Left rear jack's fuse looked alright but I switched to the Right rear and then put the Right rear's in the left rear. Both jacks worked. So why didn't it work earlier. Any idea's.

RE: Dually swing out Jack not locking into position?

Mine do that. I just push down on the top and then wiggle the jack at the same time and it works into place. I was told once to pull the pin and scrub it with brake fluid getting off the rust. I then lubed it with WD 40. That worked but it started doing it again in a couple of months and found the wiggling worked fine, so I have just stayed with that.

RE: What is your overall length with TC?

24 ft. Chev dually Crew Cab 4 wheel drive with a 2500 Bigfoot Camper dry bath. I know because the Alaska ferry system measures me regularly

RE: TorkLift GlowStep on Bigfoot, How to Install? (Solved)

I had that problem when I got my new steps. I do have a big foot. I took the bar off of the Big foot stairs and moved it over to the new steps. It was a while ago but I seem to remember that it was a tight fit and I had to do a little prying but it worked.
