RE: Niagara NY to Acadia NP in 5 days

From Twin Mt I would pick up Route 2 and travel East to Newport and hop. Off. On I955 to Bangor and then SE to Acadia. I have traveled this route many times (almost in my back yard) and even in July you won’t find it crowded. It’s mostly a very scenic smooth 2 lane State Highway. Probably 4 hours from TW to Bangor, but you will find the only road to Acadia will be very slow and crowded. We take this route from NH to Acadia every year, but always in September & October when the crowds have gone home and we almost have the place to ourselves. As a life—long New Englander I’m afraid I’d beg off on a July trip with the excuse,” Waal, just can’t get theah from heah...“

RE: Camping Lights

Ah yes, it's all about the "ME". Heck, why should a person ever be considerate of other people? X2

RE: Bangor ME to Franconia NH to Freeport ME

Google Earth has an elevation feature that will show the elevation along a route. Here's the route using only US 2. (Bangor on the left, Franconia on the right) https://i.imgur.com/LvGXD5Ll.jpg US2 is a fine road and much nicer than I-95 unless you want to make time. If you google US2, there are several videos of people making this trip. Ditto! We drive from VT or NH every year and find RT 2 to be fine - smooth and scenic. Take 95 from Bangor to Newport, then pick up RT 2 and you are on your way!

RE: Did this ever happen to you?

This happened to me in the 60s. The description was for my car and my plate(!) but in a city I had been no where near at the time (I was at work 50 miles away). Much cheaper to pay the ticket than to drive way over to the city and fight the summons. I paid.

RE: One thing I'm not crazy about with new cars

I use an independent garage/body shop in that not only services vehicles promptly at a good price, but also does excellent body work and restores old cars - usually several oldies and restomods in the shop. They are also wizards at servicing all the systems of my 2005 Roadtrek. I have been using shops like this in different for over 60 years - sadly only a few of them are still around...

RE: The tornados are out tonight

Wizard of Oz tornado near Farnam, Nebraska Crowe, there was a tornado just last year in Warner, NH. I witnessed the 1953 Tornado in Worcester, MA that killed over 90 people. It passed just 1/2 miles away from our house. Be careful what you wish for...

RE: Summer Route & Stops Through New England - Suggestions?

Avoid Bar Harbor and Portland on dates when large cruise ships are docked. They unload thousands of passengers that overwhelm the otherwise lovely towns. The ship schedules are available online. Sadly, in Bar Harbor there's a cruise ship in port almost every day from May to October. But the rest of the scenic Island is still there, so if you are interested in more than shopping and crowded sidewalks, not to mention difficult parking, then tour the Loop road and the quiet side. Enjoy your lobster at the out of the way lobster shacks, not the big in-town tourist restaurants.

RE: Ideas for travelers

Hello, I am a designer student and now I want to design a thing that could simplify and make travels more enjoyable. It could be anything. Maybe you can share experiences and tell what you are so lacking in travel? Thanks, Anastasia Let's see... New Member, joined 04/02/2019 First Post? Awkward English? Wants to design "a thing"? Methinks "Anastasia' missed April Fool by just a day...
