RE: Dental Assistance

We use Care Credit. It was recommended by our dentist. It's not really insurance. It just allows you to pay the dentist up front and then pay installments to CareCredit.com.

Totally agree.

RE: Tested your LP detector lately?

SJM9911: According to one of the videos I watched, the test button only shows the buzzer is working. It doesn't actually show the unit is detecting propane. Yeah, I know. Doesn't make sense, but that what the guy said.

RE: Tested your LP detector lately?

Good info. Never really even gave it any thought till this post. I've been reviewing some YouTube videos on how to replace the detectors. One guy removed the fuse from his fuse box to make sure there was no electricity. My rig has a battery shut-off switch. Wouldn't turning it off accomplish the same thing as removing a fuse? I'll be putting in a new one before the next trip.

RE: DPF message

Liketobuild: It sits a lot. I need to drive it more and harder. When I traded my 05 in in 2016 it had 65,000 miles on it.

RE: DPF message

Bigfoot: I normally get that same 600 mile notification. But this time no warning, just bam!

RE: DPF message

Thanks for all the comments. I finally got it in at a dealer (about 25 miles away). They ran every diagnostic test known to modern man and everything was good. Apparently, just one of those electronic things that pop up occasionally. They reset it and everything seems to be working fine. They said the 21 models have an actual readout that tells you how much fluid you have in the tank. No more guesswork. Again, thanks for all your comments.

Thanks. Things seem to always happen on weekends.

DPF message

I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel with 16000 miles. Usually, if the DPF gets low I'll get a message on the DIC telling me it's low and I have 500 miles to add to it. This morning when I started the truck it said EXHAUST FLUID SYSTEM SEE OWNER'S MANUAL. It also said I had 99 miles to go before it would restrict the speed to 65. There was a little symbol on the dash indicating DPF. So, I added DPF fluid. I know it's full now. I've driven the truck about 12 miles and the message is still there. I can't erase it. I've tried using the arrow keys on the right side of the steering wheel but nothing happens. Is there a way to erase it? It's Sunday, of course, so no one to call. I'm at a campground away from home. Should I call a local dealer tomorrow?

RE: Portable Jump Starter

I'm with Gary. Both times I needed mine it was dead because I'd forgotten to recharge it occasionally. I now carry a set of jumper cables.

RE: Flashlights

I just bought a 3-pak of flashlights today at Costco. $14.00 and change. Had them before and they work great. Uses 4 AAA batteries. Great for camping. If one of the grandkids drops one, no big deal. I'm through with expensive flashlights.

RE: Jack Stand Recall

Wildtoad: We bought our son a set a few years ago. Couldn't remember just where for sure so I texted him the info. He wrote back saying they were the ones you posted about. Thanks my friend for the good info.

RE: Parking RV at home

If it has a battery shut-off switch leave it in the "on" position. Check the water level in your batteries occasionally.

I am using Norton, thanks you.

Extensions

I keep getting a little window telling me that it's a NORTON PROTECTION ALERT. It then says the Norton Edge Extensions are not enabled. Is this a scam ad or do I need to click yes to enable them? Thanks

RE: I'm so bored

I know what you mean, Tyler0215. Our granddaughters spent two weeks with us. They and my wife love those cooking shows. I'll admit, I actually started getting interested in some of them, especially those that have chefs competing against each other.

RE: Fifth-Wheel Movie night

After you finish Longmire, give Ozark a try.

RE: Propane Switch: Was Red, Now Green

Possibly the reason it stayed green when you switched it back to the empty tank is due to it having pressure in the lines. Close your left tank. With handle pointing toward right tank, turn a stove burner on. This will relieve the pressure. Your gauge should turn red.
