RE: Looking for a good campground in Arkansas' mountain region.

Denton Ferry RV Park in Cotter. Right on the White River, featuring trout fishing, either guided or on your own. Well run park. We were there last June. I 2nd the recommendation. Catch some Trout with one of the guides at Cotter Trout Dock.

RE: digital thermostat

Hey Dusty, could you expand on your post? What part of the post is because homes use 24v and RV's use 12v? Is it the jumper between RH and RC? I've always thought that was weird that they all use an external jumper and don't just connect them together internally. The reason some tstats have separate Rc & Rh is some systems use separate transformers for furnace & condenser.

RE: Tire covers while storing 5th wheel for winter

I think tire covers are a good idea . Keep my tires covered when parked more for looks really as tire damage from so many things gets negated by replacing by age rather than condition. We wore out a double tire set and replaced with individual tire covers from WalMart . I probably will get another dual set as after installing realized my X-Chocks won't work with the individual covers on :S

RE: Laser cane for Parkinson's

Thcat’s good news, Stirling. I’m so glad to hear that. Best wishes to you and your wife. :):) Thanks. This is a horrible disease with no known cure. Her neurologist was telling us yesterday that there is now evidence that it starts many years before really noticeable symptoms start showing up . Little subtle changes such as your handwriting starts getting messy say 20 years ago. DW used todo stain glass and was pretty good then she stopped saying she just couldn't do the quality she demanded of herself on the small detailed pieces. That was about 10 years ago.

RE: Laser cane for Parkinson's

I ordered her one off Amazon and it arrived yesterday afternoon. I dont know how it works but it works. It stopped her " freezing " when walking right off the bat. It's not a cure for PD but for my DW it's a vast improvement in quality of life. If it changes I'll post down the road.

RE: Harvest Host users

I am not a member of Harvest Hosts, but I have been traveling for just over a year now. Have talked to several people in the campgrounds who are members and they are very happy with it. IMO, besides the annual membership which has increased to my understanding and suggested purchases from hosts, most no hookups, would not make me want to join. I did a search here after I posted and I don't mind no HU at times but if I have to spend a bunch at the gift shop it can get expensive. In the search was mentioned and it seems more relaxed.

Harvest Host users

Buddy is trying to get us to sign up for Harvest Host camping sites. Any one with pros/cons other than most have no hookups.

RE: Lippert shock absorber replacement options

How did you arrive at that? Was your original a 122108? Tape measure. No OEM shocks just brackets . My axles are under Springs.

RE: PA Drivers License Class

Do I need a special license to drive an RV? The answer to this common question may surprise you. In most cases, RV owners do not need any special license in order to drive their rig. As long as your motorhome weighs in at less than 26,000 lbs—and most are well below this threshold—then you’re good to go in every single state, without needing to meet any special driver’s license requirements. This article shared good information about RV driving license. Just remember, in states that have the license upgrade requirement, it is the listed gvwr that governs this rule, not what the rv scales at on any given day unless your running over gvwr & get stopped by the portable scale Troopers, rv probably odds slim & none.

RE: Dash camera recommendations

Do your research on a site like Be assured that if you buy cheap you will get cheap. Get good resolution & a large memory card. That resolution might pay off someday if there is a crash & the details are important. Remember these can be a " two edged sword " in an accident but I still use one. I have a basic Polaroid brand that was a birthday gift. I noticed today's Walmart Black Friday add two brands on sale cheap.

RE: Do you need a special license to drive an RV?

It would appear that one still only needs a standard operator's license, as far as I can make out from the web sites, but if you're in or about to be in that particular set of circumstances it would behoove you to enquire at the appropriate government offices. They do explicitly say you don't need a CDL, as is true everywhere; and as there don't appear to me to be any other applicable non-commercial license classifications, I gather that a standard license is all that is required. (There is an additional endorsement needed for recreational double towing--i.e. a fifth wheel RV plus some other trailer.) I did check and they explicitly stated I don't need a CDL... however, I have learned to never trust this as being legal advice. Reading the plain language of the statute, it appears there's a hole in the published law. Could be like here in Tx. On first page of commercial handbook says RV's exempt. Then several paragraphs into the regs is the " exceptions to the exemptions " and there is the >26000 lb rules for non-CDL requirements of the higher weights.

RE: Do you need a special license to drive an RV?

You need to check with your own state DWV requirements. Every state is different. Exactly what you have to do. My state requires an A non-CDL if combined gvwr exceeds 26000 lbs. It's not enforced except if a major problem occurs.

RE: Lippert shock absorber replacement options

eTrailer. There might be a Monroe equiv. as they make a lot of trailer shocks/kits. I believe that Monroe discontinued trailer shock kits years ago. Monroe quit makeing the mounting kits but still make rv shocks. Our Jayco came with mounts but no shock. I followed Monroes instructions for measuring and my local auto parts guy matched up what I needed. I thought I still had the model but no can find. It did make a difference on stuff moving around . However from vidideos on utube the Joyriders or whatever they are called would be the better way even tho more $. Having the mounts the shocks were worth it but if you have to go with the lci kit would go better.

RE: Help and Advice on a badly placed 5th wheel

The OP left the building after page Which is too bad because I either wanted to see a report back on how it worked or that the repairs ended up costing more doing it the cheap way rather than the right way to start with. After a couple requests for pics & no response I put op in the " pro moocher " list. I might have made an error about his persona but don't think so.

RE: Anyone gone on a Cruise?

Lots of cruises but only Carnival, Norwegian, & Holland. Carnival is not bad but NCL/Holland just better in every way. Our favorite is the NCL cruise around the Hawaiian islands. We've taken it twice .. Alaska on Holland is #2. If doing eastern Carribean go from either Florida or Puerto Rico and do Western from Galveston. One other thing, you will need a passport if you don't have one and I just had to renew my DL so it had the gold star on it for security purpose.
