RE: Max heat to leave propane canisters inside of trailer?

It will vent. In the process, it will turn your rig into a fuel-air bomb (google "fuel-air bomb." They are second only to nukes on the military "mine is bigger than yours" scale), and the slightest spark will cause an explosion you don't want to be within several blocks of. Wise grasshoppers do not store propane tanks/canisters INSIDE ever. It is why propane tanks are always OUTSIDE of houses and hanging off the OUTSIDE of RVs on the hitch. He isn't foolin Ya. If those canisters vent it just accumulates on the floor as propane is heavier than air. One thing is it will only ignite at IIRC correctly with a 8% mixture

RE: Finding DIY car/truck wash locations north of Dallas?

Don’t know of any DIY washes large enough for a travel trailer. Camping World in Denton offers RV “spa” services. Don’t know of any other north of Dallas. There is a Blue Beacon truck wash that will also wash RVs south of Dallas on I-20 just west of I-45 that would not be difficult from Plano. Have never used either so can’t speak to how well they do. I've used that BlueBeacon and there is one in Ennis on I45 that's easier in/out. I can't remember exactly where on 287 near Decatur there is a RV park that has a car wash with RV bays. Found on yelp DFW Truckstop near 635-I35E that has a truckwash Look on craigslist, Facebook marketplace for a mobil car wash crew.

RE: over nite stops

Tax dollars pay for rest stops so I will keep using them. I don't use the truck spaces at truckstops if crowded.

RE: How does RV Insurance work? How to get around my Catch-22?

I haven't heard of needing an RV license anywhere! Ignorance of the law is no excuse said the Judge. Many states have higher class licenses for non-commercial vehicles. I'm in Texas & it's based on the combined GVWR and if over 26000 lbs you need a class A or B NON-COmMERCIAL license.I have the A . I don'tt know or care about Ca specifics but have read several threads on this & Ca does have an endorsement/license requirement for larger RV's .

RE: Anyone using a Andersen Ultimate on a 2020 GM truck?

I have no idea about Andersen, I have a Pull Rite single point which is essentially the same. Pull Rite says the Chevy under bed "joists" are not where they would support the Pull Rite and they require a kit to fix that. I don't know where the Andersen feet would sit in the bed, that may be something to check with Andersen. Pull Rite understands bed deflection, Andersen does not. I had no damage to my 2012 Chevy bed after bending two different series of Andersens . My truck bed is tougher than thier hitch which as I have posted before I will never ever use again.

RE: Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

Can I swap out my POS Dometic Thermostat with a simple household thermostat? Not if it is digital. Post the model number or a picture. Why not? I have replaced 2 analogs with digitalis in two trailers One more time. The newer Dometic thermostat " talks " to the AC/furnace with a digital signal. The thermostat doesn't send the power directly to the fan relay & compressor contactor .

RE: Ditching Dometic Thermostat?

Can I swap out my POS Dometic Thermostat with a simple household thermostat? If it's the newer " communicating thermostat " the simple answer is no. It could be done With a few added parts & extensive rewirein on the unit

RE: Coleman Mach 15

If you have just 1 AC on a 36 foot unit. NOOOOOOO! You can buy a new companies AC (Furrion) that claims 15.5K. The plain fact is, you need 2 or 3 AC units once you go over 35 foot and also depends on how many slide rooms you have when you have that length. Doug Here in Texas you need 2 AC's if the rv is over 28ft imo. If you have the vent in the bedroom you can add a 2nd unit.

RE: Fighting zoning ordinances that hurt RV owners

I really don't see me ever owning property governed by a HOA. I do understand why lots of folks like the strict rules of a HOA. Simply read the rules before buying and if you don't read them you have messed up . Don't cry about the rules YOU agreed to when you purchased. Nothing wrong with attempting to get the rules amended before you try to " break " them. Most of The other owners of property read the rules and purchased probably because one of the rules was of the NO rv parking in driveway. For example I have a close relative that owns a multi million $ condo on the Florida beach. He had his lawyer read the rules and explain the do's & donuts before hand.

RE: Mach III plus 13.5 ac fan running backwards?

I called my electrician brother and he was stumped As well. He asked me if all power had been disconnected while installing and after installing the capacitors (I replaced both). I disconnected all power including the battery and waited for an hour. I fired it back up and now it’s running correctly. Fluke? Maybe but, it was the suggestion from my brother that save me from buying more unnecessary parts. Thanks for the help here. TD Disconnecting 12 volt and 120 power had NOTHING to do with fixing your problem. ALL a capacitor does is BOOST the start up needed power. Did you ever check the separation gasket like I asked? Doug I pointed out how swapping run & start reverses these motors. Only way I see this could happen ( reversing on its own ) is somebody WAS working on the wireing or as you say a baffling problem which I honestly don't know about as I only worked on couple of rv units & only the electrical/refrigerant side on top. I am not saying OP worked on it but during my long HVAC working days saw a lot of really messed up units that had simple repairs until repairs attempted by an unknowledgeble person that few confessed to. Maybe the OP's rv is haunted :B this would make an episode of that ghost hunter reality show

RE: Fighting zoning ordinances that hurt RV owners

What is the municipality? I would like to see the ordinance that says a vehicle registered, insured and inspected by state regulations, cannot be legally kept inn your driveway. Or is this an HOA situation? Jim Thorpe Pa in 1980's had an ordinance prohibiting Pickup trucks from parking at a residence. My Daughter & late SiL had to move there for a year for his job and you being from Tx he drove a truck. Lots of bull puckey from a few neighbors.

Refrigerator Interior fan ?

I have been looking for a cooling compartment fan for my Norcold . It seems to allways have some condensate along the top of the fresh food compartment & I had to replace the light fixture the other day because of this. All I have found are the battery powered ones but I want to hardwire. Am I going to just have to get a 12v fan & southern engineer it in ?

RE: Is anyone towing with a Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton 3.0L Diesel?

My Son just bought a GMC 1/2t crew Denali with the diesel. It's pretty nice . He is in the buying stage for a 24-26 ft TT so has not towed but the unloaded Hwy mpg is in mid twenties

RE: Mach III plus 13.5 ac fan running backwards?

If it was mine...I would switch the wires around and it will run the other way. I wouldn't tell somebody else to do that though..... For Alternating Current motors there is no such thing as backwards wiring. There is no positive or negative, both wires are both positive AND negative (not the correct technical description) that alternate 60 cycles per second (dont wet pants if this is not technical enough...). Switch wires and the motor runs the same direction. On a Direct Current motor, like your vent fan, you can switch directions by switching wires, because DC does not alternate. So, your A/C motor which runs off AC cannot be run backwards. You can get a backwards fan blade, but these likely do not even exist. The motor runs only forward. The reason to wire it correctly is so the casing of the motor is not "hot" and cause electrical hazards if touched by a person also touching a ground, where the electricity could flow through your body... Swap the Run with the Start lead on the Run Cap & it is now running reversed.
