RE: SEMI cameras

Aware divers know how long and wide their vehicles are. Unfortunately many, many drivers don't. These are the ones who have to leave 20 ft between themselves and the vehicle in front of them at every stop. No need for a camera for a good driver....

RE: Cooling fans for external coils.

That's a great idea. I have a similar setup in my slide mounted fridge flue in our MH. Just keep in mind that you can't use your infrared thermometer gun to measure air temperature. Air is not dense enough, you end up getting the temperature of the hard surface behind where your pointing.

RE: Does closing most A/C vents create back-pressure?

The reduced airflow over the evaporator can cause ice to form, and lead to a possible freeze up which is not good for the compressor. So you'd have to try it out and see if that happens. As far as the blower fan is concerned that offers no issue. Airflow CFM is directly proportional to current draw. Less airflow = less fan current.

RE: Why is the generator cycling??

Check the status of the Inverter/Charger while it's happening. It's probably charging your house batteries.

RE: Any Apple gurus?

Since you don't own any Apple stuff chances are good that you don't have any important information stored in the cloud. Just tell Apple to delete your account completely.

RE: Jeep Grand Cherokee, experiences, thoughts, opinions?

Just got back from a 2200 mile trip towing our 2011 JGC. We've towed our last 3 Grand Cherokees and all have been superlative. Jeep does not design the system to require unlocking the steering column, or having to disconnect the battery. You only have to make sure you get the variant that has the transfer case with a neutral position. Period, end of story, it's that simple. I AM A JEEP ENGINEER.

RE: Aqua Hot & Residential vs. non-R - seeking Info, Dinette too

Residential refrigerators solve the many problems in propane types. Propane types are slow to cool, and have difficulty keeping cool in very hot weather. Also, propane types demand you keep the frig level when parked. If you read enough posts, you will read about many "fixes" to attempt to correct these faults. Residential frig does not have these faults and work in an RV the same as they do at home, and do not use any more energy. RV refrigerators are primarily Ammonia Absorption cycle, not LP. LP is used to power the cycle in the form of heat. So is 12v power. When it comes to actual energy consumption (power used to cool) the Absorption systems are way more efficient than compressor based residential units. But the trend is now to go toward safer technologies for RV's like residential refrigerators with inverters, and large battery banks.

RE: Seeking refrigerator tips... in AZ and heat is hampering...

I have two 12V computer fans blowing air upward in the back of the fridge. They are mounted about half way up the back of the flue. Getting the heat to rise out of the flue is the key.

RE: Ram 2500 CTD and GM 2500 Dmax up the Ike.

Forget the IKE it's a non event. What you want is the real SAE trailer tow grade comparisons. Davis Dam.

Let your insurance company take care of it. They can deal with him if they want to.

RE: Do you run house AC while on the road

If it's really hot, yes we run the two roof units on diesel generator, and the dash A/C while going down the road.

RE: smartphone as hotspot for remote work

Make sure you have an Unlimited plan with a good provider. I use AT&T and can use up to 30GB per month right on my Pixel 5's internal Hotspot. Since your doing CAD work your needs will be high. Good luck.

RE: iPad or net gear for mobile hotspot?

Either way you may want to look into an external WiFi booster antenna. I agree with this response. Except that I think you meant an external cell phone antenna and booster system.

RE: RV travel across Canada during these lockdown times

If you are Canadians, and your not leaving Canada there is nothing to worry about. Why would there be? If you are an american doing this you should be worried. Many stories of transits through Canada which turned into sightseeing trips to Banff (etc) and been busted by RMP.

RE: A mobile version of this site?

This questions pops up every now and then, this is an old site with code created before mobile devices were popular. So unless this has changed the answer is no.

RE: Star Link

I might be over-stating this here, but I think Starlink is wrong to suggest the latency of its system is so good. The obstructions, beta downtime, and no satellites of the beta are nearly unacceptable. Elon says space should be exciting. Starlink is exciting. First there is anticipation about the order, and now I have anticipation about more satellite 'fixing' the downtime issues. Latency is not an issue, period. You must be an astronomer, or at least a wannabe one.

RE: Star Link

It no longer in Beta. Anyone (in the US) can sign up and pay the deposit. Then wait for shipping. Which could be a few months away.
