RE: I have a disgusting problem… HELP!!!

DO what you gotta do to make a big enough hole for the Porta jon pumps to empty the drums. Then rinse them and dump that into your septic. Won't be much going into your septic tank that way. Crush the barrels and take them to the scrap yard.

RE: Black Tank only holds 1/2 to 1/3 of capacity

Go watch this video National RV Training academy. I would go with the liquify brand based on his test.
In your situation it may take a few treatments to get it cleaned out.

RE: Stabilizer jacks at home?

Seems you are talking about jacks on a travel trailer that does not have hydraulic leveling. In this case, if I am storing and not going into the unit at all, jacks up. If I am going to go into the unit and I need to put out slides, level the trailer and lower the jacks. When finished in the trailer put slides back in and raise jacks.
A tire going flat is not the only possible issue. If you live where you can get a substantial snow load on the unit you can also bend the jacks.

RE: Water tank failed! (09 Cedar Creek) fifth.

Well I got the bottom off. Thankfully it’s not the tank but the plastic nipple that screws into the tank for the drain. There is about 5 inches of plastic water pipe down to the valve. Stupid of Forest River to not use copper for something very exposed to the elements.
Best bet would be to replace it with pex line. It rigid yet flexible.

RE: Lyme Disease Vaccine

It's been a few years now, I asked my doctor about getting the Lyme vaccine for myself. Seems not long before that they stopped giving it to humans. The doctor told me people were getting Lyme from the vaccine.
I would look for a pet safe alternative like this Southern Ag 10401 Natural Pyrethrin Concentrate for when you travel.
You can also use like products to treat your yard and surrounding area at home. Ticks start off feeding on smaller animals like mice and chipmunks. Treat cottonballs with the chemicals and place them around the yard. The smaller critters will use them to build nests and in turn kill off the ticks.

RE: 2022 dodge ram sway issues

I just looked at the hitch you listed. You can basically turn off (adjust it so it's not doing anything) the sway control and still have the weight distribution. Try that and see if it works with the trucks sway control handling things. If not, the next question is trailer tongue weight and or truck capabilities.

RE: Hate being followed around

We just bought at our local Camping world in February. They had hundreds of units of all different shapes and sizes on the lot. They asked what we were looking for, we told them rear living fifthwheel, size and level of quality we wanted. They went to the computer, pulled up 5 units and the salesman walked us out to see those 5 units. We were in one and the wife said she wanted lighter colors. The salesman remembered he had one down the line that had lighter colors. He was thinking he could find that unit elsewhere but wanted to show her the colors. As soon as she walked into that unit, that wasn't in the list because it was listed as FB (front bath) instead of RL (rear living), she fell in love with it. It is still a rear living set up but due to the full front bath and FB label.
My point is having the sales group direct us to specifically what we were looking for saved us climbing in and out of a hundred campers. We already did that at camper shows.

RE: Need advice if safe for my pickup to pull a heavy 5th wheel

If you can figure out the pin weight, then that will tell you what you need to see on the door sticker. Most of the newer 3500/350 SRW will easily pull more weight than your trailer. The problem is the amount they can carry. Make sure the Payload is higher than your pin weight, fuel, people, dogs, firewood and anything else you may decide to haul in the truck.

RE: It wouldn't go anymore

It's all about the attitude. I know what I can't do. Now it's time to figure out what I can do.
One of the items always available along any highway are steel cords from discarded truck tires. If something needs tied up, just look around.
I've fixed an nonfunctioning motorized awning with aluminum foil and a bobby pin.

RE: all breakers blowing

Not an electrician.... but if everything is tripping, I'd be checking to make sure all wires, especially grounds, are tight and clean. Start with the power pedestal and work in.

RE: Roof repairs

From the looks of that, the roof has been leaking for some time. Even if you fix the leaks, it is only a matter of time before the rot destroys the whole unit.
Sorry for your loss. Enjoy it while it lasts.

RE: Wireless Provider Gripe

I would find the proper number for T-mobile and call them. Odds are if you got the notice through email to change to a debit card, it is a scam. I've not heard others using T-mobile mentioning this change so I would be leary.

RE: Low Water Pressure

It's either a kink in your hose or a clogged screen somewhere. One trick I learned is to always turn on the campground spigot for a second, turn it off and then hook up your pressure regulator and hose. It seem earwigs and other critters love to take up residence in the hose bibs when no hose is hooked up.
If you don't blow them out of there before hooking up you will find them blocking the first screen.

RE: 2004 Viking 1706LS popup camper, uneven roof lift (HELP!)

I'm guessing here, but in the second picture there is a bolt head between the two tubes coming out of the long box. That may be your adjustment. I'd lower the roof first and then see if it turns.

RE: Usefulness of Ford "5th-Wheel/Gooseneck" package

Get the puck system and a new hitch. Go with an auto-slider and you will never break out a window.
The Reese adapter linked above costs about $600. Seems like a waste of money and adds another failure point.

RE: What happens when you overfill tanks.....

The last flush I do before we leave a campground takes me 20 minutes or so...I’ll bet you’re a real popular guy in the line at the dump station
20 min is average from what I see here. All the people that rent rv's then try to figure it out at the dump. I don't get excited if someone wants to do a respectable job of cleaning out their tanks, I usually do also if I am not just moving to another site. if your leaving and 20 to 25 min will ruin your day, don't camp in any national parks in BC or Alberta :B
Myself I will usually try get water and sewer for that last trip so I can take as much time as I like dumping my tank and cleaning it before going home.
I only do a really good flush when sitting in a site with full hookups. When dumping at a dump station I try to be considerate of others. Hook up the lines, dump the tanks, add some water back into the black tank, unhook the lines and move on. I'm going to be using it within the next two weeks anyway. No reason for the poop tank to be perfectly clean.

RE: What happens when you overfill tanks.....

My gray tank is full when the shower no longer drains.
My black tank is full when the toilet burps when I flush.
My gray fills up long before the black. I put a valve on the main drain pipe where you connect the drain hose. With that valve closed I open the gray valve, wait a few second, then open the black valve to move some gray water to the black tank. Then close both valves. That gets me at least another shower before to the dump we go.
Do you have a picture of that setup?
Both of mine go to one main drain with drain valves for both tanks.
You can do this trick by just leaving the cap on the end but you will have to deal with the “extras” when you pull the cap to connect the hose at the dump.
DO NOT TRY THIS WITH JUST THE CAP IN PLACE!!!
People really should think before they post this stuff. If you want to use this method get yourself one of the twist on valves for the end of your drain line. That way you can attach the hose before you let the c r a p fly.

RE: Best route - Maine to Cape Hatteras

It pretty much depends on how you are planning on traveling. Are you doing it all in one day? Stopping somewhere halfway? Willing to drive a little farther to avoid sitting in traffic?
This is the route I would prefer. Long easy way around
