RE: Pick up truck remembrance !

In 1980 I bought a 1964 F100. 292 V8, I had to cut a hole in the metal dash to install a stereo (radio wasn't a factory option). I converted the 3 on the tree to a Hurst floor shifter. Had the gas tank in the cab, manual choke, no power steering or power brakes. Floor bulb windshield washer.

RE: F150 HD Payload and Max Trailer - How to spot them?

One possible clue is "Dumbo" tow mirrors.

RE: DIY-who's tackled Foggy Glass repair?

Residential double pane windows have argon gas between the panes, when they start fogging, its because the seal has failed and the inert argon has leaked out and allowed moisture in. Are RV double pains inert gas filled ?

RE: Ductless AC instead of roof mounted AC

The torque values should be in the installation manual. Those flare fittings are the weak point at this time. There is a whole industry trying to produce an easy to use, reliable tool that will consistently produce a non leaking flare. If it was leaking, and you just tightened it down, it's probably going to leak again at some point.....

RE: Rvers beware

For anyone not familiar with the homeless situation in the Northwest, people are pitching tents pretty much where ever they want, and parking derelict RV's all over town.....Lacey isn't looking to arrest anyone coming home from Dicks with a new sleeping bag.

RE: Whoever said you can't support the camper by the frame?

As long as they're concrete building blocks and not just "cinderblocks".

RE: carbon Monoxide alarm going off

You could be smelling other combustion byproducts, while you aren't smelling the CO, if there's combustion gases you can smell, and the CO alarm is going off, there could be CO in the mix. As others have stated there are other things that can set off a CO alarm, but if it's only going off when you run the water heater on propane, apparently there's some kind of issue that needs to be resolved. I work for an HVAC company, years ago we had a customer call in stating her new furnace was setting off her CO alarm. Funny thing was it was 75 degrees outside, I asked her if she 1. Had the furnace on, and 2 were her windows open. She answered that the furnace wasn't on, all the windows were open because they were painting the interior of the house.. End of problem.

RE: 6 people in an F350

At least in Oregon, you need only use as many seat belts as you have. It’s legal to have more people than belts. I’m not saying I would do that though. ORS810.215 Exemptions from safety belt requirements (5) Any person who is a passenger in a vehicle if all seating positions in the vehicle are occupied by other persons. This is the state that won't let you pump your own gas ?

RE: AUDI Q5 for towing

looks like on some of the Q5's max tongue weight is 440, not sure how that translates into the payload,

RE: They Better Not Screw Us Up

One of my facebook friends that lives in Vegas pointed out that they'll just block off the highways miles and miles from Area 51, game over.

RE: Ford F-150 what do I need for towing?

Especially with F150s, but to a certain extend all brands, the payload can be all over the map, you need to check the door sticker for the payload. F150's range from 1400 on up to the unicorn HDPP's. Factory brake controller and dumbo mirrors are clues it may have a decent payload / tow capacity.

RE: Using Propane while traveling in BC - Not Legal

I didn't see in the booklet where it actually said it was against the law, or cited an actual law or code. As a bit of trivia, BC is one of the few places I'm aware of where you can find a gas station that has LP to refuel your lp powered vehicle.

RE: A poll: What does 2 blinks of the left signal mean to you?

In my state there is no law posted that the people behind me have a right to drive faster than I am. But we do have a law that states "All trucks, busses, and vehicles pulling trailers must maintain 300 ft intervals." This, if it was self-enforced, would help move traffic on 2 lane roads. What I mean is if you don't know your stuff well enough to pass the car in front of you, and there is not room between you and that car for somebody to drop in and match speed, then you are the one obstructing traffic. Guess you don't live in Washington State, "Delay of 5 motor vehicles is prohibited". On some two lane state highways, they post signs as a reminder. RCW 46.61.427 Slow-moving vehicle to pull off roadway. On a two-lane highway where passing is unsafe because of traffic in the opposite direction or other conditions, a slow moving vehicle, behind which five or more vehicles are formed in a line, shall turn off the roadway wherever sufficient area for a safe turn-out exists, in order to permit the vehicles following to proceed. As used in this section a slow moving vehicle is one which is proceeding at a rate of speed less than the normal flow of traffic at the particular time and place.

In a residential garage, ignition sources need to be 18" off the ground.

RE: Help what tongue weight F150

The HDPP F150 is also called, "the unicorn"....Yes, rare and pricey. This guy is the first I have seen that claims different. Ever since they became "available" posters on this site have stated that they just are not on dealers lots. Everyone that wants one, orders it. Up til 2014, you could look for used ones by looking for dumbo mirrors, then counting the lug nuts looking for 7 lugs, or before they locked ETIS, for newer than 2014, you could look for dumbo mirrors and run the VIN to check for HDPP option. I probably found 3 or 4 used ones that way, but ended up going with a used F250.

RE: Will my load limit handle this

With an F150 your issue is going to be PAYLOAD. Look on the door sticker and see what your payload is.

RE: Roof fan

I've done the Hengs in a couple trailers now, they are a super easy retrofit, just a couple screws from the inside. Being in Seattle where it rains alot, we put vent covers on all our vents.... The last Hengs I did, I got a reversible PWM controller off ebay, makes a single speed fan a variable speed reversible fan.
