RE: Towing with F150 Poweboost

OP, thanks for posting. I've been interested in one of these primarily for the cool "ProPower Onboard." Didn't realize you can't get the larger gas tank. Bummer!

RE: Have to wonder how this will effect the EV aficionados

^^^^Yep. I lived in Birmingham AL in the early 70s. Depending on which side of the mountain you lived, you might be washing the soot off your windshield each morning. Though the sunsets were gorgeous....

RE: Have to wonder how this will effect the EV aficionados

Fox Business? Enough said....:S
LOL. FOX "news" isn't news per say. They have zero investigative staff members. They are all cut and paste. I know first hand. Most of their editorial has to be scrutinized by lawyers before going on air so they are not sued on a daily basis. The writers have to say "You can't say that. It's not true. We will be sued." They then have to rewrite the article to the satisfaction of lawyers. LOL.Yep, most of what I read about the new $2.7 billion lawsuit indicates it has a good chance of success. I expect Fox is wishing they'd paid more attention to their lawyers, had better lawyers or enough common sense to know you can't just make **** up and get away with it forever.

RE: Maiden Voyage wanted to check on RPM's and Gears in 17 F-150

The Tow/Haul works well, IME. Check your payload, though. That can be a limit far sooner than the tow weight.

RE: Dump Station Etiquette???

I don't have anything new to add but hope you'll take the majority advice and not rinse and diddle when others are waiting. Don't be selfish. Be prepared for all sorts of nutballs at the dump station. I was behind a Bubba once who just opened the valve and let-r-rip. No hose. I pulled out of line, dumped at the next stop.

RE: How dependable are newer trucks with higher mileage?

IME, it's not the engine and transmission that cause headaches above 100,000. There's lots of other stuff that can and will go bad. Tolerance for dealing with that and the ability to get stuff fixed properly varies. Having a trusted mechanic or shop could sway the decision. I'm on the fence now with a 100,000 mile F150. Runs well, no rust, comfortable, etc. At my age I'll only be towing a couple more years. BUT.... I've had a water pump replacement that turned into a $1500 screw up. Later on a cracked radiator that I'm 99% sure was the Ford dealers fault, another $1000. I'm probably an idiot to keep going back to the dealer (I've tried two) but I don't seem to have another option. Financially it's surely better to keep fixing stuff for two more years as opposed to $50,000+ for a new truck, but having those two years w/o all this drama is appealing.

RE: What are your opinions on the new Ekko ?

If I was to order a new AWD Ekko, I'd insist before I closed the deal .... that the dealer check with Ford as how much larger diameter tires could be used on it and still clear the fender wells and front suspension components and, if blessed by the factory ... deliver my Ekko with those tires on it, including a spare tire of the larger size. That would be interesting to know but I expect dealer or Winnebago would have zero interest. Probably say "Thanks for stopping by, we'll just sell it to this next guy on the waiting list.";)

RE: A top to bottom look at green energy

Most of us enjoy lives much more comfortable, healthy and secure than those of our grandparents. Thank science. Think about who is promoting this current anti-science insanity and question their motives. Why is it so threatening to admit that there are folks who are smarter, better educated and have more understanding of these issues than a bunch of us sitting around the firepit? The debate over human caused climate change was over 10 years ago among legitimate scientists. The idea that corrective alternatives have to be cheaper than what we are doing now is absurd. We'll do what we have to, pay what we have to, or we'll be screwed worse than we already are.Y'all like the red? Shows I'm special too.:R

RE: Small Class C on Truck Chassis?

I see them on E450, wondering if F450 exists. Thinking maybe better handling, engine placement, 4X4 etc. I'm thinking very small, closer to B size.

Small Class C on Truck Chassis?

Do these exist? Current models on truck rather than van chassis? The smaller the better as long as it has a toilet and holding tanks.;)Thanks!

RE: Value of Spare Tire and wheel

Lack of a factory provided spare is one of the most annoying nonsensical developments. During my B shopping I found the ProMaster based vans didn't come with a spare. No good options for adding one other than a hitch rack that interfered with the back door. I think the Transit vans may come with a spare but the Covid put an end to my shopping before I could verify that. Our new Prius doesn't have a spare. I've got a plug kit and a compressor and AAA but I still feel it's an unnecessary roll of the dice.

RE: Tow Haul Mode

Actually, what I have read is that with Tow/Haul engaged the alternator is programmed to keep providing a significant output rather than dropping down so much after it replaces the starting draw. This may not be true with all brands or years. I haven't verified if this is the case with my Ford, it's just something I read that I thought was interesting and a welcome feature. I have a little meter I can plug in to the 12V receptacle, maybe I'll investigate the next time I drive the truck.

RE: Tow Haul Mode

I think engaging tow/haul will also keep a good charge going to the trailer battery.
