RE: New 16" trailer wheels

RE: are there upsides/downfalls to single-axle TT's?

I've owned small trailers in both configurations. They both towed well. Obviously the single axle has fewer tires and wheel bearings to deal with. In the past, some small dual axle trailers came with tiny 13" wheels with no room to upgrade. This could impact the ability to use top tier tires. Moving to a smaller trailer opens the door to molded fiberglass, far superior to other construction methods with regard to durability, IMO.

RE: Lithium batteries and alternator protection.

Has anyone come across input from a vehicle manufacturer as to whether or not their alternator/charging system could be damaged by using a Lithium battery in a trailer? Maybe on one of the truck forums? There has been chatter and speculation for several years now, it would be nice if one or more had provided a definitive answer.:?

RE: Life span of TT with heavy use

I agree that water intrusion is what will kill it. You'd be surprised how sneaky it can be. An unsealed (from the factory) front marker light is what ruined my first trailer.

RE: F350 LT275/70r18 tires

Apologies for the piggyback question but this seems a good place to ask. If I adhere to the payload door sticker (Combined weight of...should never exceed) do I need to be concerned about any specific axle or tire capacity? In other words, if I don't exceed the payload can I assume the rear axle and tires have enough capacity for the load? Just a general question, no specifics in mind. Thanks. Hard question to answer with out knowing your payload, depending on what is carried in the TV, there are likely some combinations that it might be possible.:h So even if under payload, it's still possible to exceed the rating for axle or tires?

RE: Towing performance - F150 vs F250

Welcome! How long have you been towing that 5th wheel with your F150? :W

RE: MEXICOWANDERER On Top Charging New Flooded Batteries

Well, the map took a long time to develop. Hope to have a couple more years so we may get MN and SC. AK isn't in the cards, nor the other east coast states. :)

RE: MEXICOWANDERER On Top Charging New Flooded Batteries

That said... another aim of mine was to bring to the forefront a concept once raised by one of our... uber-helpful board members... which was buried within a reply in some random thread. The idea being to help people. There's not much more to miss than that. .Got it! Somehow I had the idea he was no longer with us. Carry on!

I must be missing something. Why start a thread repeating what another member has apparently posted in another thread?:?

RE: F150 w/ 3.5L POWERboost towing experiences?

^^^Agree. I couldn't build any configuration that allowed both PowerBoost and HDPP.

RE: Fuel consumption too high?

Probably we can skip the irrelevant posturing. OP apparently got what he wanted and hasn't been back in over a month.

RE: A different take on the popular ‘Carbon Dioxide Narrative’

Definitely should be more "objective" dialogue concerning the shape of the earth.

Bummer if you've had hobbies "cancelled." Never been my experience. How many years do you figure before they take your keys?

It is said that history tends to repeat.. Yep, until we learn from it.:h

RE: A different take on the popular ‘Carbon Dioxide Narrative’

I enjoy the internet but a downside is that any nut can post a youtube video. Folks need to make an effort to separate grain from chaff. The video is over 8 years old and if there was then any question of Matt Ridley's credibility, there certainly is none now.

RE: Half ton towing

My F150 has a payload of only 1500lbs. It's a lightly optioned XLT. The fancier versions may have even less. Add a fiberglass cap and I'd definitely be over with a 1000lb tongue weight. 1/2 ton owners need to check the sticker and make an honest assessment of the other cargo. May be surprising how little tongue weight you can add. The towing limits might have you thinking big trailer but the payload will bring you back to earth.
