RE: 6 ply or 10 ply. Would I see a difference?

Great points Terry. Tires in trailer may not be balanced. It is a new trailer and they are set as they came from the factory. Something to look into. I have heard the WD too tight argument as well. My trailer is about 7500lbs loaded. The WD is an Equilizer 10,000lbs. If I loosen up the WD, the rear of my truck goes up and there is no compression of the front end, no weight distribution. The other side effect is that my headlights point to tree tops and it is very hard on others at night. I will check the trailer tires balance. It is always cumbersome to do at Discount Tires but it is worth a try. MC

RE: 6 ply or 10 ply. Would I see a difference?

It makes sense. Hitch is pretty straight forward. I have worked with Equilizer manufacturer to adjust it. It is a 4 way 10k hitch with more than plenty capacity to spare for my load. Trailer is brand new and lightly loaded, traveling with empty tanks, no food most times and light gear. The only thing I can think of is the trailer does not have torsion axles. MC

I am running Goodyear Wranglers Territory AT OEM tires. Max load 2756 lbs. Max pressure 51psi. Load Range Standard load. I have been running with 50 psi on the tires while towing. MC

RE: Falcon shocks for towing. Any good?

Tongue weight is 750-850 Hitch is 10k equalizer Trailer weights 6300 dry, loaded 7500 I don't have to raise truck to hitch but I do need to do it to load the bars. WD has 7 washers on it and L brackets are all the way up. There is a lot of tension on the bars. MC

Phil What tires did you go with for your truck? I never thought the trailer tires had that much influence but I will look into it. I don't experience sway but I do experience bouncing in the truck. MC

RE: 6 ply or 10 ply. Would I see a difference?

I've heard the argument that too much pressure on the load bars creates bouncing. I just don't understand why? My understanding is that pressure on the equilizer bars transfers move weight to the front which helps take the load off the back reducing bouncing. In my crew cab f150 2021, I can't barely compress the front unless I really load up the Equilizer bars. Truck is new with 12k miles. As soon as it hits 20k, I will probably just add the Load E tires. RE: 6 ply or 10 ply. Would I see a difference?

Yes, it is pretty loaded up. Either the tires or springs are flexing too much. MC

6 ply or 10 ply. Would I see a difference?

Towing a 7000lbs tt with F150 2021 w/ 6 ply factory tires. Experiencing some bouncing. Would I see a difference with 10ply tires?would the ride w/o a trailer be too stiff? Thank you MC

RE: Falcon shocks for towing. Any good?

I am at 50% already. The front end on this truck is pretty interesting. No trailer it sits at 37 inches. Trailer on, no equalizer, it goes to 37 1/2. Getting to 37 1/4 is nearly impossible but at least I am neither below 37 or above 37 1/2. The rear end goes from 39 1/2 to 37 so getting to 50% is easier. It looks like the rear is much softer than the front. I wish I could try 75% in front but it looks like I may be maxed out and unable to add washers or raise L brackets and getting to 75% seems hard without messing the rear. I read a little about 10 ply tires.. The truck comes with 6 ply and most people recommend 6 ply as a good compromise. I was wondering if the ride quality when not towing would get impacted too much with 10 ply. When the truck bounces, it certainly feels like the tires are flexing but it could be the springs/shocks. I agree there are a couple of things to try before new shocks. The tires is the only one I have not tried yet. MC

Falcon shocks for towing. Any good?

Hello, I am thinking of adding the Falcon adjustable Tow Shocks to my 2021 F150 Powerboost crewcab.  I tow a 7400lbs trailer. The problems I am trying to solve are slow bounce recovery when driving on roads with small bumps and a little bit of front end floating when driving in 20mph winds. I use an equimizer and it is set properly to distribute weight front and back. The truck just bounces and floats a little in windy and road imperfections.  Would the Falcon shocks help? Would adjustable airbags do better?  They are priced about the same. I just need to make a choice if they both make any difference at all.  ???????MC

RE: Would you switch from Class A to Travel Trailer

This was 10yrs ago but back in the days I owned a V10 class C, I remember the cab area getting very hot when traveling in AZ. It felt like the cab AC could not keep the Coach cool enough in 100 degree weather. I am not sure if this has changed with new engines. Of course, I could run the generator but I never felt comfortable doing that while driving for long periods of time. MC

Sedona, AZ to Glacier NP campground ideas

Hello, We are planning a trip with 31 ft trailer from Sedona, AZ to East Glacier in May (now) and June... I was wondering if anyone had good campground suggestions along the way... Our route is Sedona to Southern Utah Southern Utah to Park City Park City to Tetons Tetons to East Glacier. I am having a hard time finding nice campgrounds between Tetons and East Glacier. We would appreciate any recommendations for 1-2 stops between Tetons and East Glacier or must do campgrounds along the road. Trying to avoid the advious busy places along the way. Trying to keep driving to 6 hrs/day and stay overs to 4-5 days. We will consider occasional dry camping for a couple of days if worth it and easy on a 30ft trailer. Thank you MC

RE: Help creating storage space

Wow! That is inspiring. Great work! I will PM you if that is okay as I tackle a few of these. The closet is my coat solution but I am having a hard time finding one pre-made that is tall and narrow. Most tend to hang clothes perpendicular to it. I just want one 10-12 inches deep where I can hang 2-4 coats parallel to it. I am assuming it is OK to find a wood stud and screw the sides in place. Hopefully, it won't tip over in transit. Mc

RE: Help creating storage space

I agree, a small coat closet may fit there. Any suggestions? It has to be tall and narrow. Perhaps room for 4 coats, brooms and a few shelves at the bottom. The 27RLSS is a great Floorplan but it needs a coat/broom closet. I now need to find something that works and hope I have a stud in the right place to hold it securely. MC

RE: Help creating storage space

Thank you That is a great idea. I need to make sure I have the room to rehang that door and a place to order the cabinet. Some manufacturers think more than others :-) MC

Help creating storage space

We bought a Floorplan that we really like. It has a drawback that we are trying to overcome - storage. We made a concious decision to go in this direction given how we travel. I want to add a jacket storage area and clothes shelf space to it that is not too intrusive and lightweight. My concern is holding that down while traveling. I have been thinking about lightweight cube storage. I wonder if anyone had any good suggestions. The floorplan is a Puma Palomino 27RLSS. A potential space is the area between the slide and the bedroom for a cube storage but I am open to any and all suggestions. MC
