RE: The first fewDays !

We should be rolling into Huatabampito about the 23rd or 24th and plan to spend several days eating shrimp and walking the beach. Would appreciate a report on the south road out as we are headed to Mazatlán, taking our time.

RE: TIP problems

Sorry I went off. I was a little uptight. It occurred to me that the Baja doesn't require a tip for the tow vehicle so there is always that. This 3/4 and 1 ton thing has been on the books for several years but most crossings hadn't hasseled RVers before.

RE: TIP problems

So in other words, I ask about a problem crossing the border that not only affects me, but will also affect many other Americans and Canadians and it turns onto a political bash of the US by someone who has often displayed his disdain for the US and is encouraged by a moderator. PS at least 63 % of Americans despise trump, and I am well to the forefront of those who do. I suppose you will ban me now, so Adios.

RE: TIP problems

I didn't say that they were stopped at km 21, they said that they were notified that the TIP had been cancelled. Other people said they had been denied TIPs at km 21. I will be crossing at Lukeville on the 25th pulling my 5th wheel so I will be finding out if they are stopping 3/4 and 1 ton pickups at San Emiterio. If I am denied there, I'll continue on to San Carlos and will try Empalmy. If I get denied there, I may go back to Tucson and try at the Mexican Consulate. Still haven't heard of any one who was denied pulling an RV or a slide in camper. Worse comes to worse, we'll spend the winter in San Carlos.

TIP problems

On the "On the Road in Mexico" Facebook page there have been people turned away from Nogales km21 in one ton trucks although one said they had to go back to the border to Aduenda to get certified as passenger not commercial. On the same vein, at least 3 people who got their TIP on line have had them cancelled after they were originally approved, one had his money refunded and two were still waiting.

RE: Hermosillo Bypass is OPEN!!

Here is a copy/paste from the (San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico Forums > Topical Forums > San Carlos Forum > Great day has arrived (I think)) from the 14th of May. There are huge signs south of the toll booth but the general idea is that will turn off the main highway at blvd Morales to head west. Then after 1/2 mile or so, you will make a U-turn and then head back towards the highway. It is all very will marked. Eventually you will cross over the highway, loop around and will be back on the highway heading back NORTH. Almost immediately afterwards you will come to the entrance to the new bypass road on your right. Take that. Eventually you will reenter the main highway about 5 miles south of Hermosillo. The new bypass makes a loop well to the EAST of Hermosillo. Eventually there will be a new overpass that will allow you to enter the bypass directly but for now you will need to to the Morales U-turn route. Immediately south of the toll booth, there is a road running of to the west but that is not it. It is the 2nd road to the right after the toll booth, maybe 1 1/2-2 miles south of the toll booth. There are many LARGE signs so it shouldn't be a problem.
