RE: Where to RV on East Coast

Never rented a rv however as a camphost have heard many tales from renters on how the pickup did not go as planned. A 9:00 am pickup turned into a 3 hour ordeal. Then how far do you think you'll get that first day? Just a few things to consider the youngins would rather be swimming than a long boring ride. Keep it close to home.

RE: Advantage of residential refrig?

we had a gas electric fridge in our last 5er spent a couple grand replacing just about everything on it eventually a whole new fridge. Looking for a new 5er DW round the one of her dreams came with a residential fridge. If your a weekend warrior and stay in state parks and go for the cheap sites, then a G/E fridge would work better for you. We did 10 weeks on generator in Alaska with a residential fridge and the ice cream stayed frozen. There's no right or wrong answer it all depends on the camping you do. We are going on our Eleventh year full timing and didn't use a gen till we went to Alaska the first time in 2015 but that was with the RV fridge. The only time we used the gen was to charge the batteries or use the microwave. With our new 5er other than those 10 weeks in 2018 Alaska and three nights in Dinosaur National Monument the generator lie silent, we're on shore power.

RE: Dometic RM2652 5A fuse keeps blowing

Just to update: I checked the heating element and it’s 37.4 ohms. The spec in the manual says 44. Am I likely too far out of spec? I would say so.

RE: Houston Texas to Montana

Interstate 35 to I80 to I25 to I90 to Livingston. We have traveled this route north from Kerrville area to Montana and northward to Alaska a couple times. No terrible climbs but it's uphill all the way. ELE 4501 at Livingston.

RE: Cades Cove

My second wife had lived in Marysville it was only twice we went but she directed me through what she called the backdoor into the park. Just Google maps Cades Cove then directions from Marysville. Piece of cake.

RE: Lassen Volcanic National Park Opens

And some people wonder why the United States has the highest infection rate in the world. I think the post above tells the story of why the rate is not dropping as quickly as other countries. Which is really unfortunate. If you don't test anyone does that mean you don't have any cases? NY, NJ, are the petri dish of the US.

RE: leaking hot water tank

I had a plastic fitting crack. Fortunately it was discovered before any floor was damaged. It did take 3 trips to HD to get parts to repair.

RE: question about placement of hitch

Doesn't matter where you set it, over the axle or in front. Just don't want to unload the front axle. So what you want to do is start with it over the axle then get it weigh. Front axle weight should be the same or higher than the unladen weight. On my first truck and 5er the dealer installed the hitch with it centered over the axle. There was no difference in front axle weight with or without. I wondered what difference it would make for handling if it was moved forward, so I did. Added 25# to the front axle.

RE: First Cat Scale Weigh In

Most I could transfer weight to the front axel was 25#. As long as your not negitive your ok.
