RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

There’s been some construction going on in a shopping center parking lot right by my house. Couldn’t figure out what they were building. Yesterday it dawned on me that it’s a 6 stall charging site. For giggles I went on the Supercharger site and sure enough it said, Windsor CA coming Q1 2021.
It’s a great site for one, just off 101, with food, hotels etc easy walk right there.
I’ll let you know if it is laid out to support a tow thru.

RE: 2021 Chevy Tahoe with 3.0 Diesel

It is an interesting engine. Seems like more electronic actuators than any other engine that comes to mind. A neighbor has Silverado with it and he tows a pontoon boat or TT with it never had a conversation about though. The EGR tap behind the DPF is clever be interesting to what the insides look like at 100k in terms of soot. Is it a Denso or Bosch fuel sys?

How about just hold him to his claim of having a Gigafactory off grid.

Google ANEEL Fuel, it appears to make Nuclear a real option for the future. Lower operating temps and up to 80% less waste, not able to be used for weapons stock.

Having left my home 3 times in 4 years due to fires. You’ll have to excuse me for not thinking any of the Gigafactories are “ecological paradise” until they’re off grid with zero emission power.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

It has absolutely nothing to do with the Semi. John, my point is if I was Elon and made this statement below, he should step up somewhere. It’s not like they can’t afford it. He had been enjoying the cheap power from his neighbor a 1100MW gas plant for a couple years when he said it. What they’ve accomplished is awesome, this strikes me as a next step to legitimize solar/ storage in industrial setting.
I have a neighbor who is awaiting installation of a solar roof and double Powerwall combo. They
also have an EV so it will be interesting if they will have any monthly electric charges.
This is utterly false. Fossil fuel merchants of doubt have been pushing that bs for years. Tesla Gigafactory will be 100% renewable powered (by Tesla Solar) by end of next year.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

In Sept 2018 Elon proclaimed GF1 would be off grid by Dec 2019. They have not even put up any additional solar panels. I just think that if I made that statement as well as the hardware to accomplish it, I’d step up to do it on a clean sheet design building. Especially since they all have large plots of land for expansion.

And not a single factory setup or projected to be able to be off grid.

RE: Electric vehicle mandate in California

The interesting thing I read yesterday was the rotating outages were forced because a 750 mw surge plant was down for maintenance. Then in the peak a 500 mw tripped off. The article actually said then the problem really compounded when, wait for it.. the sun went down and all the solar dropped off. I know PG&E is planning a large battery installation in Moss Landing on the coast.

RE: 2019+ RAM HD with failed CP4-2 IP to get CP3's

I’ve always thought a part of the change for Ram/Cummins is that the CP 4 requires less HP to drive at the higher pressures.

RE: Cybertruck has 400 horses

I should have explained myself better, my comment was based on this quote from the article;
“We want it to be something you could use to tow a boat, a horse trailer, pull tree stumps out of the ground, go off-roading and you don’t have to worry about scratching the paint because there is no paint. You could just be smashing boulders and be fine.“
Having a heavy off road background I found that statement a bit funny. I do wonder how the pack protection will be accomplished.

RE: Toyota fake 3/4 ton spotted, overheated

Anybody remember the Jeep Comanche? They had a Metric Ton package for that as well. Great truck.
Instead of getting out and telling the guy to buy a real truck. How about “I have a tow strap maybe we can get you clear while it cools down”

Toyota and Yanmar have a working prototype fuel cell boat using Marai components.
As a 40 year airplane guy the E Beaver and Harbor Airs short routes are perfect for existing technology. The motor developer flew an E Caravan the other day as well.

RE: Cybertruck may have 1 million-mile battery

For the sake of conversation, battery life is a function of charge cycles. At an average of say 300 miles per charge that’s 3333 cycles. So they have something up their sleeve as current batteries aren’t up to that level.

Joplin Mo is offering a package worth 1 billion. Apparently there are existing battery manufacturers there so they are talking up a pre trained work force.

RE: TFL Gold Hitch Awards 2020

So would any of us pin the pedal to the floor for 8 miles up the Ike like TFL? Being an airplane guy I always used the rpm point where the HP and torque curves crossed as my equivalent to climb power in an airplane. Or max egt less 50 on my 7.3 PS. What ever gear could hold that number was where I stayed and whatever speed was an it is what it is deal.

RE: 2020 PSD owner compares it to his 2019 PSD towing 18K

How did a change in lifter type result in a exponential increase in moving parts? I think another factor in the change to the CP4 is lower power needed to drive it.

RE: Ford F350 7.3 Gas Pulling 15k

That TFL Ike test with 16k is impressive. Good for Ford. I had a 96 F250 with a 460 that was a cool truck that towed my Ski Nautique great. It had the double 15 gal fuel tank setup that they used back then I remember days that I swore the needle moved on my 8 mile drive to work.
