RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hi all. Questions about Cruise America Thor Majestic 23A coach battery. 1) What manufactures, size and type battery did your 23A come with? Mine came with a a Lifetime AGM Deep Cycle Group 31. 2) Was your battery just on the battery tray or did it come with a strap and/or any protection from road debris/elements? 3) Have you replaced your battery and if so, what did you decide to go with? Did you stay with an AMG or go the traditional flooded deep cycle?

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Another small point - I was told that the backup warning is "disabled during refurbishment" - and yet I see in here that previous buyers have a working one. Anyone know how to re-enable this? The black rectangle behind the bike rack on my 2005 28R is the backup sonar. I unplugged the connector behind it because the rack and car-in-tow would set it off. Also the backup beep comes from the bulbs in the tail lights. When I put the transmission in reverse the backup lights turn on and the beeping starts. https://live.staticflickr.com/8296/7796971546_d7a909af74_z.jpg eldel - New news to me but yesterday, I was in the process of cleaning my reverse light lenses and found one of these under one: Beeping Reverse Light One of the other forum members mentioned that he/she thought that this was the case so I wanted to validate that statement. I'm never at the back of the coach when in reverse so I've never thought about this.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hello everyone! Does anyone know what is under the dinette bench seat behind the drivers seat? I may not have to remove the base of the seat depending what under there, but just the seat back in order to recline the drivers seat a bit more. Again, thanks for everyone's contribution to this thread. Your efforts greatly put my mind at ease. Booner - I picked up a 23A from Federal Heights in July. I sent you a Private Message. I opened both dinette seat compartments to clean. As others mentioned I can confirm that on the 23A, the Fuse Panel, various wiring, seatbelts and anchors and the storage tube for the dinette table is under the seat directly behind the driver.

Here is my take on tow/haul. In the 23A when we are just taking bicycles and not pulling a tow dolly, I do not use tow/haul. I set the cruise about 67 and sit back and relax on the highway. We just got back from Hot Springs, AR and pulled a car. The whole trip with the car and dolly, I was in tow/haul.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

More information - I got the fluid analysis reports today. The lubrication reports (engine, transmission and generator) are OK but the coolant one is way out of line. So either it hasn't been changed in forever or I have an upcoming engine issue. I've asked CA to check their records to see if they have any information on when it was changed last. Let's see what they come back with. Per the CA national parts manager, the solar is near worthless for an owned coach but does well for a rental that is on the go all the time. He also told me the factory controller could not handle a larger cell. He said that when the go bad on the rental units they do not fix them. My Solar Charging light has never worked since my purchase so I suspect the Chinese cell is bad or the control panel. The replacement cost for parts was reasonable but I figure that it would be better to sped the money upgrading the CA cell.

Ex Cruise America rental owners, did your battery come in a plastic battery box? What size battery did your coach come with?

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

My 28A came home with me today. Now I'm looking at how to mount the (Haloview) rear view camera. I'm going to power it from the marker light but I'm unsure about the best way of fastening the mount to the body. 4 holes and self tapping screws? Epoxy? Other? Ideas gratefully received. I can’t help with your installation, but would like to see how you did it and the final product.

On question for purchasers of former Cruise America rentals. Do you remember how long it took for you to get title from Cruise America in the mail?

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

The power cable isn't completely hardwired in the 2015 cruise america 28a (not sure about other models and years) the other end is still a plug-in. It's basically a moot point but useful to know if you ever needed to replace it, etc The little door says Furrion 30a 125v https://i.imgur.com/AWwgxB9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/i0dJJxll.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tprmlYDl.jpg I had to go look at my 2016 23A and I stand corrected. Mine is set up much like fadumpt's 2015 28A. This is good news as I might want to replace the cable now that I know it should be an easy swap.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

2012 Cruise America 27G/E450 v10 chasis update: I just got the rear anti-sway bar installed by my local Ford Truck/RV service center, I went with the Hellwig (rear) kit which requires no drilling of the frame, as opposed to the RoadMaster anti-sway kit, which requires drilling. Decided to have them install it cause Phoenix is too HOT outside to work on it and my lack of power tools... ~$225. https://i.imgur.com/CFuzgDsl.jpg WOW does it drive better... heck yes! It used to rock-n-roll like crazy just pulling into my driveway over the rounded curb. Haven't highway tested it yet with semi's blowing by, but we're taking it out soon on a kayaking camp trip. MtnBikeMarty Very nice. I just ordered today the Roadmaster Steering Stabalizer and the Roadmaster Front Anti Sway bar. I'll get those on and figure out the Rear Sway bar in a few months.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Not sure if this is a well kept secret or not, but if your ex-rental is built by Thor, check out: https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owner-resource/ Put in your VIN and receive manuals to all components and even a list of serial numbers. Oh my gosh, how wonderful is that information! I created an account with my VIN and like fadumpt said the website gives you essentially the CA build sheet with all of the component model numbers, serial numbers, Thor Motorcoach part number and even a .pdf owners manual for each component. Thank you!

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hey "Gotsmart" I have a question for you. I have a CA too, but what do you mean by "hard wired shore power calbe"??? is that cause we have to plug into the inside recepticle when we disconnect from shore power? I'm an RV novice since this is my first, so forgive my question. Marty hardwared - as in: it is part of the coach. As opposed to a cable that plugs into the coach using one of these: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71qG-i0pZ2S._AC_SL1500_.jpg height=264 width=240 that one finds on most trailers. CA units do not use the plugin in your photo. The shore power is hard wired on the coach and to run the generator, you plug the shore cable into a receptacle in the shore cable storage box to power the coach.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hello! I'm Bill, I just put down a deposit for a CA Majestic 19G. 2017 with 118k miles on the clock. Other than an 83.5 Vanagon to dry camp in years ago, this will be our first real RV. I too have read/skimmed all 115 pages of this thread - I'll have 4 to 5 weeks of wait time for the refurbish process to re-read them. What I don't remember reading is what to expect when I pick it up? What was included? Drain hose? Water hose? Gas? Propane? Shore line? ?? Other words, what do I need to pick up for a 2 day road trip home? Thanks to all who have contributed to this and other threads, it really makes a difference! I'm going to go out on a limb and guess your experience picking it up will be different depending on the office that you purchase your coach from. I can relate my experience from purchasing from the Denver office. I got a used sewer hose, a used water hose, shore line power cord (as they are hard wired into the CA coaches) two different 30 amp to 15 amp converters, 2/3 tank of LP gas and 1/2 tank of fuel. :)

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Update - I picked up my CA 23A from the Denver (Federal Heights) office this afternoon. My wife and I spent three hours going through and detail cleaning the inside. We need about an hour more work inside and will be hitting the road heading back to the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex. WhooHoo texasvwnut,Thanks for the update, what a nice way to celebrate the 4th of July. I will put you on the books as member # 118 of Forum members that are in the Former Rental Owners club. https://www.picgifs.com/emoticons/smileys-and-emoticons/thumbs/smileys-thumbs-217948.gif I hope the ride home was a good one and all went well. Please come on back when you can and tell us about how it went and what you think of the experience. Again Congratulations on the purchase and I hope you will enjoy many great camping trips. Thank you. We made it back home this afternoon. A little more than 800 miles one way from Denver to the DFW area. I’ll give everyone a overview of my experience after I have a day or two to process everything.

Still working on the video of the 7pin install, but it's wired now. We just added a Camco stove cover for the Dometic/Atwood stove (Dometic logo front/ Atwood part number underneath) and a Teak cutting board to cover the sink.https://photos.app.goo.gl/WWojEKLBQa1Tu6BYA https://photos.app.goo.gl/WWojEKLBQa1Tu6BYAhttps://photos.app.goo.gl/WWojEKLBQa1Tu6BYA I like that stove cover a lot. Is this the one you installed? Camco Stove Cover Also interested in where you got the sink cover.

RE: Good Sam Icon

I made another account, and your right,no “Show GSC Badge” option in the profile. Must be something to do with registered at GS first. Thanks for checking. I'm thinking this is on the Good Sam team at this point.
