RE: Greasing the hitch

I also use tube of lithium grease. The small opening on the end lets you put the grease where it is needed. When we do our final set up after about 6000 miles of towing I use plenty of paper towels and some WD40 to clean up before our next run.

RE: Busted!

My city has rules also and if you have a 24' or smaller TT yo0u have to keep it in you back yard behind the house. I can agree with them as I wouldn't want to look at an RV out my doorwall or in a neighbors yard. We have a TT that is about 40' and we keep it in northern Michigan at a vacation house3 that has no restrictions and few neighbor none are full time residents, different world. Works for us plus being north it is a great stepping stone to the Upper and beyond.

RE: Which TT has the Best Kitchen and Why?

A 10" cast iron skillet needs no sink to wash. Just wipe it out and store till needed again. Once a cast iron pan is prepped with oil it needs no daily washing. that is the beauty of cast iron.

RE: Recommendation needed for first camper trailer

Agree with those that say you are not going to get the towing cap with that truck. Option pop up is about your only solution. This spring check out a camper show and refine your plans.

RE: Silver Slipper Bay St. Louis, Ms

We stayed there a few times but I would suggest the Hollywood for a better park. The Slipper is a low level casino and offers little. Go to Biloxi for a good assortment. We like the palace (no smoking), Boomtown is ok too . There is a restaurant up on stilts about 40' off of the ground just immediately to the west of the Hard Rock. They have exceptional seafood and you get a lot of it. Good views from the dining room. Have fun but stay away from the slipper. Their idea of a rv park is a narrow piece of asphalt off the road and across the street from the bay.

RE: How about a RGV update

Your post seems totally unscientific and self centered at best. Plenty of RVers are affected by this virus and our friends in Canada also cannot enjoy much rving this winter without risk. Till there is a vaccine that is endorsed by the scientists then we will hunker down. Some people think that being safe is overkill but until you know someone that dies from this be it friend or family...shut up.

RE: How about a RGV update

If you're scared lock yourself down and stay home. Simple. The chance of you coming down with Covid19 and dying is lower than the chances of being killed in a vehicle accident on the way to an RV park. We've been locked since last March. I am one of those with copd and diabetes that and the fact that this country has no plan make me stay here in Michigan this winter and pray for a vaccine by August. You can joke all you want but if someone you know gets and lives their troubles are not o0ver when they are pronounce free of the virus. Your lungs and heart are under far more stress. So tell me just how good my chances are on not getting it but I and many others will skip the southern scene this winter and use caution and science to pronounce our country mended.

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

remember the hose connection and after you do the pink use a screw driver to push the small white plastic valve in the hose fitting. Do not stand in front of it !!!

RE: New and confused

I would vote for the van you still get some room behind the seats, it is comfortable for all and generally the back seat can be folded down for haul bigger stuff at home. I have always had yukons and crew cab pu trucks plus diesels ones. I never hauled kids except when we had a pop up. Trucks do not have that much room in the cab. get the van

RE: Changes to Snowbird lifestyle and Snowbird communitiess

We have been doing the southern scene for over 15 years and yes it is warmer mostly. We will miss that BUT if I am going to be confined to a trailer or motor-home without human contact it would be liker jail. On the other hand we have two homes in Michigan and although we do not frequent the northern on in the winter anymore we could. One main stay home in southern Michigan is 2500 sq ft and has a hot tub room and a separate wood shop attached to the garage. A home theater, fire place with plenty of fire wood, I have my office and computer room the wife her sewing room with room for her rather large quilting needs. Plus family which maintain the same anti virus plan as we do. SOOOOOOOO in the end we are giving up the sun and warmth for a much larger environment with lots of stuff to do in any season. Bottom line just going south is just not a huge draw and the mixing with thousands of seniors in the public places is not a a good thing for us.

RE: Changes to Snowbird lifestyle and Snowbird communitiess

SD experts continue to debunk the media's twist on Sturgis. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/09/08/study-260-000-coronavirus-cases-likely-tied-sturgis-rally/5750587002/ Hmmmmm, the truth appears to have been blocked. Imagine that. Another source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielcassady/2020/09/12/did-the-sturgis-rally-cause-250000-coronavirus-cases-heres-why-experts-are-skeptical/#35e8cc6b73a1 Apparently we're not entitled to the truth. Believe what you wish but stats are stats and they predict up 400,000 dead before end of year. I cannot see going to our RV park and being in close proximity of our fellow campers without a bad outcome. We will just stay hunkered down this winter. and hopefully by next winter they will have a proper vaccine.

RE: Changes to Snowbird lifestyle and Snowbird communitiess

We have a permanent site in central Florida at a very good RV park, great friends , lots to do BUT all that said, everything is communal. From the dances to the pot lucks to all the games . Everyone is right on top of one another. Heck when we play cards many bring in candy or other treats, of course they complain about the cards getting "sticky", but the entire experience is close and friendly. We cannot take the chance this season and will still home by choice. I wish all good luck and hope that you make it through this winter as it isn't going to be a healthy one. Take care of each other!

RE: 75 Speed Limit - How Fast

I drive at 68, tire are rated higher but at 70 the mileage falls like a rock. I do see on I75 many trailers at 60 or 62 this is a bad thing because as cars move into the left lane they leave a 60+ zone and go into a 80+ zone. A lot of brake lights and a nasty experience for all. Sure, only those that drive sensibly and within the speed limits should be inconvenienced. In Michigan that would be most everyone. People here drive at 80 as a norm.

RE: Travelling with Bathroom Fan Running

If you have a later model TT like our Jayco the fans no longer have to be open as they vent differently. they are even rain proof because of the newer design.

RE: Electric vehicle mandate in California

California has a mandate for electric vehicles in the future. Just read with the extreme heat PG&E will have rolling blackouts because of power shortage. Noticed this in previous years as well. Do you think requiring electric vehicles is putting the cart before the horse in not having a updated power grid to handle the increased demand of charging electric vehicles? I think mandating any type of technology is dangerous. It stifles development of competing and perhaps better technologies. Requiring a maximum emission output is one thing. Stating how you "must" get there seems illogical. I disagree as anything that can be cheaper, more available and a better mouse trap will always float to the top of consumer desires.

RE: Florida closed to travel?

Florida is all about the money they won't stop the cash flow............ but we will as until we feel safe we are not going to team up and play cards, games, potlucks or dances it seems to be a virus breeding thing. If you go have a shot of Clorox for us.

RE: has anyone seen one of these in person?

Not much into toy haulers but just looking at the rest of the trailer this is something on the entrance level. Seem cheap and not thought out in many, many ways. From the little sink and micro under the stove to the sink in the bedroom. What s nightmare.

RE: 100 days till snowbirding........ maybe not

I am hopeful for a vaccine by year end. The purpose of my post was not to discourage anyone but emphasize the need to take as many precautions as possible. I have followed a lot of this and am a broken hearted RVer this winter. I have not found any credible scientist or knowledgeable person that says they're will be a vaccine that is going to be totally workable though even next year there are just to many variables to this virus. There may be one that works for some and then is not effective for others much, much testing will be required for a finial solution and then it will need to be redone for the next year. We will wait .
