RE: Load center wiring

I think it is because the negative terminal of the battery is connected to the frame ground as are the ground wires. YEP. THis.

RE: Ford Trailer Backup Assist

I'm guessing that the steering input required to make a give turn is based on geometrical calculations of the distance between the tail gate camera location and location of the checkered sticker. Once you "relocate" the camera, all those dimensions change, so it's hard to say how well it would work.

RE: Big quality of life mod

The other big mod to make is to connect the pump to the plumbing with a length of stainless braided faucet supply hose. This isolates the pulses of the pump from the rigid pex piping. Forget the above. To eliminate the pulsing, install an accumulator tank like this

RE: Small trailer suggestions

The Founder/COO of Ember worked for both Thor and Forest River which should tell you something. I doubt he has had some divine intervention regarding build quality. FAKE NEWS alarm just went off. The Founder of Ember is not a "he". Details here if you don't believe me.

RE: Small trailer suggestions

In many states, RVs under 4000 lbs. GVW don't require a title to sell I've never seen a trailer (RV, cargo, utility, etc) traveling down the highway without a license plate on it. Which states allow trailers to go on public roads with a license plate (and title)?

RE: Major Problems with Bed of Truck - how to fix?

....when you put on that many miles over rough roads. Backcountry dirt roads? or paved roads?

RE: Major Problems with Bed of Truck - how to fix?

The fact that the camper has shifted to the side and blown out the front side of the truck bed and has caused it to not sit correctly on the floor of the truck bed is the likely result of why the bed is collapsing. Do you have a rubber truck bed mat to help keep the camper from sliding around in the bed? What kind of camper tiedowns are you using, Torklift frame mounted or something else? What are you using between the camper tiedown anchors and the truck's camper tiedown points - turnbuckles or Torklift fast guns? I've never seen the side of a truck be blow out like yours has. Id say the camper keeps shifting that way and causing the problem. The only fix is to replace the truck bed, or the truck, and stop the camper from shifting to the right side of the truck bed so it doesn't blow out the bed side again.

RE: Major Problems with Bed of Truck - how to fix?

What year is your truck? Hang on. I might be wrong about the model of Arctic fox. I thought it was a 990. Sounds like the 811 then. In the kitchen, are there three cabinet doors over the sink/stove, or two? The 811 has only two cabinet doors up there. Have you weighed the truck empty and with the camper loaded? My gut says you are still way over the GVWR of a 2500, but the same truck bed would be used on all of the same era of Dodge / RAM trucks, so that really doesn't mean the truck bed can't support the weight since 3500s and duallys run heavy campers and the bed doesn't crush.

RE: Major Problems with Bed of Truck - how to fix?

It’s an Arctic Fox 990 in a short bed. The Arctic Fox 990 is too long for a short bed truck. I am pretty sure you are way over the GVWR of your 3/4 ton truck buy hauling an AF 990 in it. The photo you posted is a short bed 811 on a short bed truck. The 990 is longer than the 811, ans has a COG that is probably further back than it is on an 811.

RE: What is your speed uphill?

What can I expect towing 16k? Does the RAM have enough power to keep up good speed going up hill? Speed you go up hill depends on how far down you mash the skinny pedal. .:D:D:D:D When I tow uphill, Faster speed = higher ECT, higher trans temps, higher EGTs, so I base my speed off those numbers. I adjust my speed and the gear I put the trans in to keep those numbers in check, especially the ECT and EGT. Get a monitor that plugs in to the OBDII port. I have an Edge Insight CTS2. Current model is the CTS3

RE: Best Class A fire extinguisher

Here's their update video. They highly recommend multiple fire extinguishers, but unless you want to carry it around with you at all times inside the RV, once a fire starts, there's very little time to do anything other the GTHO of the RV!

RE: Impact of fuel prices on travel

At least 5 years ago I started putting money into an extra bank account I have. I've turned that money into my "camping and recreation fund" savings account. The money from that account goes towards fuel for my vacations and camping trips. Because that money sits there and isn't used for anything else, it's not a huge hit to my main bank account to go camping. The drawback this year with higher diesel prices is that my "special bank account" will deplete faster than usual.

RE: one more thing to worry about

I never leave credit/debit cards in my vehicle. I always keep them on my person. DITTO! Leaving cards in vehicles is not smart at all.
