RE: Lance Travel Trailer v. Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer

Grand Design are very nice, but Lance is in kinda the next level of quality. If this is you’re first rodeo in camping travel trailer style, make sure you pick a floor plan that works for you. Take your time walking through them. Second thing is understand the weight ratings of the trailer you are interested in and make sure it aligns with the tow vehicle. Spend some time understanding what hitch weight and cargo carrying capacity means for both the trailer and tow vehicle. I wouldn’t proceed with anything until you fully understand what each weight number means. Plenty of U-Tube videos out there to make is easy.

RE: new mattress needed, any reason to buy from camping world?

We completely replaced our queen size mattress with one made by “Allswell” , somewhat expensive and heavy but very comfortable. I had to reinforce the wood underneath by adding 2 additional wood cross members and had to buy 2 new gas rams designed for more weight so when you accessed the storage underneath the bed would stay up.

RE: Another Towing Question

Unfortunately Puma trailers are known to be heavy trailers. Anyone mention a 28’ or longer Puma, thats 3/4 ton territory in my opinion. When the trailer weighs considerably more than the truck and will be over 30’ long physics take over, no matter what 1/2 ton you have.

RE: Dump Station Etiquette???

I don’t mind people flushing their black tank after dumping. The trigger for me is when they start shooting the breeze with someone, or have some complicated dump hose packing method that takes forever. Last time we went camping there were some ladies in an RV in front of us. They kept talking to each other which slowed down the process, then they get in their rig and it just sits there. Finally got out of my truck and walked up to their window to see them talking. Did the universal WTF sign language by putting both my arms up in the air. They just looked at me like they had no clue there were 10 RV’s waiting behind them. Cleaning the black tank bothers me the least.

RE: Water leak in trailer??

Had the same issue and it was the check valve. Another way to test (weather permitting) is to hook up water to your trailer. If your water tank eventually starts running out the overflow this will also indicate the check valve is leaking on the water pump.
