Kirkland motor oil

I see that Costco has their own brand of synthetic motor oil. Like other Kirkland branded items, is it any good? Having a sale on 2 pack of 5qt containers for $25 delivered.

Dually valve extenders

Will be buying new tire for the coach shortly to be ready for the up coming season. Currently, the inner rear dually has a braided extension. I've never had good luck with these and plan to replace them with solid ones when I get new tires. My tire shop is proposing solid extenders that replace the existing valve stem for $160. I see that you can also buy ones that screw on to the existing valve for a lot less money. Is one better than the other? It would seem that the expesive ones eliminate a schrader valve and a point of potential failure.

Coach battery size/model

Looking to replace the 2 coach batteries in our Winnebago Vista. How can I find out what size/model to buy?

Coach/chassis battery replacement

Batteries in our coach are at least 6yrs old. I'm thinking it might be proactive to think about replacing them. Have tested them with one of those testers where you suck up water from each cell and all seemed ok. I keep them on a trickle charger when not in use. What is the typical life of these batteries? Any suggestions on what brand to replace them with?

Truck bed liner on roof

Some one has mentioned to me use of the truck bed liner on the roof. Is that a good idea? What are possible problems?

Hankook AH11 vs AH35

Looking to replace our Goodyear tires soon. On previous coach we put on AH11's and were happy with the ride and performance. I see that Hankook is now offering an AH35 Smart Flex likely to replace the AH11. Has any one put these on? What's your opinion of them?

Fiberglass restoration

We bought a used Winnebago Vista. Previous owners had it in Florida for 2 yrs and never did any wax or protection and now the gel coat is in really poor shape, it's dull and porous. Is it possible to get it re-gelcoated? Any idea on what type of firm does this? Would it be less expensive to get it painted?

RE: Windshield Replacement Recommendations

We live on Long Island NY and had to replace the 1 pc windshield in our Winnebago. Went through the glass repair people associated with FMCA; can't remember the name. Went to a local auto body shop, the only ones to bid the job and they could not handle it; did not realize it was one pc. They wound up getting a crew from 45 miles away to come out and do the job. Turns out that, I'm guessing due to liability issues, few if any shops in the Northeast will touch one pc windshields. Glass firm said next time we need a windshield go to FL, AZ or CA where there is no problem.

Replacing Thethrod toilet with Dometic

Replacing existing Therford toilet with a Dometic. Parts supplier says I need a mounting kit for this which, according to the description converts 4 bolts to 2 needed for the Dometic. Has any one done this replacement project? Do I need this $45 plate? Utube videos seem to show a direct drop in replacement. Thanks to all who share their knowledge.

RE: Newmar Sold

Well, the Newmar we had was the worst motor home ever. We were constantly repair something. After a year and half we sold at a loss and bought another Winnebago. Hope that Winnebago quality does not degrade to that of our Newmar.

RE: Coach net vs FMCA road side assist

Just called Coachnet to see why their plan was more expensive than FMCA. Turns out our Coach net plan covered MH and cars. Don't need cars as AAA handles that. FMCA base plan is MH only. More interesting is that FMCA uses Coach net.

Coach net vs FMCA road side assist

Currently we have Coachnet. Fortunately, never had to use. It's time to renew and I see that FMCA offers a plan that is cheaper. Has any one used the FMCA? Is it on par with Coachnet?

Toilet mounting

Planning to replace our Thetford toilet with a Dometic 311. From what I can tell, the base mounting bolts are the same. Can any one verify that? Are there any other installation issues I need to be aware of? Thanks for your help.

Toilet replacement

We have had issues with our thetford toilet over the last year. First, the pedal mechanism broke. When it was replaced, the seal was also replaced. Well the seal did not hold water despite letting the pedal slam back. Figured a bad seal and repalced and still have the same problem. Perhaps it's time for a new toilet. Any recommedations on the best one? Don't need a porcelin bowl for the RV.

Battery corrosion

The metal brackets that hold down the batteries tend to collect a lot of "white" stuff. I've cleaned them many times using battery cleaner and then sparying with battery protector. Terminals themselves are clean it's just the hold down brackets. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Acadian coastal drive in New Brunswick

Planning to do this scenic route next month in our 27ft motor home. Wonder if the roads along this route are motor home friendly? Any points of interest we should make sure we see or do?

RE: A crappy experience

I once had an problem where the rubber "keeper" strap for the cover got caught in the connection to the hose so it did not seal properly. OMG what a mess to clean up when all I wanted was to sit with a beer after a long drive.

RE: Teddy Roosevelt N.P.

We did both North and South units on our way to and from Glacier liked both. Stayed at Medora Campground. OK but not great - it was convenient. Try to stay off the intersate going to Glacier, much prettier and more interesting staying on state roads. Great auto museum in Chester MT. Good RV park in Shelby part of Comfort Inn. Interesting musuems etc in the little towns along the way. Took our time and enjoyed.

Refriderator replacement

Saw an ad for an Amish cooling system replacement for the Dometic units that uses a compressor and runs 12/120. Has anyone tried this? How does it work? Looks like a $600+ cost and likely not a DIY.
