Battery corrosion

The metal brackets that hold down the batteries tend to collect a lot of "white" stuff. I've cleaned them many times using battery cleaner and then sparying with battery protector. Terminals themselves are clean it's just the hold down brackets. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Acadian coastal drive in New Brunswick

Planning to do this scenic route next month in our 27ft motor home. Wonder if the roads along this route are motor home friendly? Any points of interest we should make sure we see or do?

RE: A crappy experience

I once had an problem where the rubber "keeper" strap for the cover got caught in the connection to the hose so it did not seal properly. OMG what a mess to clean up when all I wanted was to sit with a beer after a long drive.

RE: Teddy Roosevelt N.P.

We did both North and South units on our way to and from Glacier liked both. Stayed at Medora Campground. OK but not great - it was convenient. Try to stay off the intersate going to Glacier, much prettier and more interesting staying on state roads. Great auto museum in Chester MT. Good RV park in Shelby part of Comfort Inn. Interesting musuems etc in the little towns along the way. Took our time and enjoyed.

Refriderator replacement

Saw an ad for an Amish cooling system replacement for the Dometic units that uses a compressor and runs 12/120. Has anyone tried this? How does it work? Looks like a $600+ cost and likely not a DIY.

Mobileye collision avoidance system

Saw an ad for the subject system. Runs about $900 plus installation $$. Has anyone installed this? If so, how well does it work? About what were installation costs? I'm figuring at least $500 or so.

RV air conditoner silencer

Saw an article in FMCA magazine about an RV A/C silencer from Wacko Products. It replaces existing filter input housing with a " improved design" that is supposed to reduce noise and provide better filtration. Cost $189. Has anyone tried this? Does it work well enough to justify the money?

RE: Full Wall slide dependability

We had a 2014 Newmar Baystar 29' model with full wall slide. After about a year when going to set up, I noticed chunks of metal in the storage bin where the rear mechanism is. Turned out it was some kind of thrust bearing. After many calls to FL dealers, I finally found one that could see us in 2 weeks instead of 8. When the dealer was fixing the rear he looked at the front and that was about to break also. Even after the fix the slide was not right. This was the final straw in a year and a half of constant repairs and we traded it in.

Replace slide out weather strip

We have a 2015 Winnebago Vista. The weather strip on the bottom of the slide is tearing away from where it attaches to the bottom of the opening. Has any one replaced this? Is it stapled, screwed or glued on? Winnebago was not helpful in saying how it was attached, but does sell replacement strip.

RE: Replaced front pull-around curtain with pull-down shades.

WOW what a great addition. Our previous coach had the motorized shade and it was a real plus when driving into the sun. We now have a 2015 Vista 26H and the sunvisors are useless. Where do you connect the "ignition" wire to? As we have the same year and model coach, can you point me to the MCD part #'s?

RE: Are Newmar coaches constructed better than others?

We had a 2014 Bay Star and it was the worst piece of junk ever!!!! In the year and a half we owned it, the coach was at the dealer 4 times and the factory once. Each time for a long list of items; most of it incredibly poor quality workmanship. There was not one trip we went on that I did not have to repair something many times, with the help of the dealer service. When the full wall slide mechanism broke that was the last straw. Traded in and moved on. While at the factory for 2 days of repairs we took the factory tour. We were amazed at how fast the workers were assembling the coaches almost like there was a race or the place was on fire. If we had done the tour first would not have purchased.

Kelderman upgrade

I saw an article on the Kelderman suspension upgrades for the F53 chassis and thought it might improve the ride. I'ts a bit pricey, but wonder if it's worth the $$? Can not find too many reviews or any recent ones. Kelderman suggested doing front first as that makes the biggest improvement. Rear tends to be a bit more involved depending on placement of water, electric etc lines. As I research this, it looks like Koni FSD shocks migth be an interum step. Also found that when I replaced the Goodyear tires with Hankook's that made a difference - they were not as hard(?). Due for tires soon. Thanks to all who share their knowledge.

Cleaning genset

During a recent trip we went through some pretty dusty construction zones. While changing the oil I noticed that there was a lot of dust/dirt on the left side where the "electronics" are can I spray that with water to get rid of some of the dirt? Are there drain holes in the pan under the genset to get rid of the water?

RE: Big rigs beware - Havre RV Park, MT

We came through the area about a month ago and stayed in Evergreen RV park. Can handle big rigs. About 2 miles from town not much road noise.

RE: Maintaining tirepressure.

Thanks to all who shared their experience. I have a TPMS so I usually check in the AM before starting out. According to Goodyear the min pressure for the G670 is 80lbs. Since we were spending several weeks at higher altitude and cooler temps, I decided to up the pressure some what since it was at 81lbs; rather too much than not enough.

Maintaining tirepressure.

We recently took an extended trip to Glacier NP in Montana from the east coast. Before leaving, I over filled the tires to 88 (recommended 82) figuring it would get colder (37deg) and there was an increase in altitude (5,600ft). Sure enough by time we got to Glacier, pressure was down to 81. Again over filled to allow for temp changes. Pressure fluctuated, mostly higher, as temp went up and lower altiude. As we got further east looked like cooler temps. Over fill resulted in harsher ride, but could not see adding or letting air out every day. Is there a happy medium to this problem?

Mt. Rushmore, Custer SP etc.

We plan to visit Mt. Rushmore, Custer and Crazy Horse. Is there a campground that is convenient to all of these? Thanks for your help.

Theodore Roosevelt NP

Have seen a few stories on this park and thought we might visit. Any suggestions for must see things to see or do? What is the Cottonwood CG in the South unit like?
