Super steer radius rod

Have been in contact with Henderson in Oregon about handling issues on our Winnebago Vista. They are recommending installtion of a radius rod on the front springs to limit forward and backward movement. Has any one done this upgrade? Does it work? I spoke with the truck shop that does all our work and they were non committal on how well it worked. Hederson has apparantly done a fair amount of testing on this.

RE: Newmar Gas and Diesel Opinions

Well after reading all the praise for Newmar, we're the exception. We bought a new 2015 Baystar and had nothing but problems with it. There was not a trip that we went on where we did not have to repair something. In the year and a half that we owned it, we were at the dealer 4 times and the factory for 2 days once. The quality of workmaship was terrible. When the drive mechanism for the full wall slide broke on our way to Florida, that was the last straw. We traded it in on a Winnebago. Lost a bunch of $$ but not having the head aches was worth it. I constantly wrote/emailed Newmar management and got no response.

F53 suspension upgrades

We have a 27'Winnebago Vista and like others are not satisfied with the handling. In a recent Motor Home magazine article they detailed the upgrades to a larger coach by Henderson that was interesting. I contacted them regarding what was needed for our model. They recommended a stiffer front sway bar, a radius rod and Koni FSD shocks. Seems, they feel, the CHF could lead to a component failure. While not cheap, I am considering it as the coach does have handling issues. I have a Safe T Steer installed, a rear trac bar and recently had a thorough wheel alignment that improved steering/handling greatly. I never heard of a radius rod, but according to Henderson, it's job is to keep front leaf spring from moving forward/backward or side to side thereby improving steering and body roll. I never heard of a radius rod. Is any one familiar with this?

Oil change question

Due to virus issues, we'll only put about 1600 miles on the coach ( Winnebago Vista with V10) this season. I changed the oil (full synthetic) and filter last Nov. and am wondering if I need to change it this fall with so few miles on it?

Fresh water pump hook up issue

Just finished installing a new water pump (Shurflo). Found that it ran but did not pump water. Traced the problem the compression fitting on the input not being tight so there was a vaccumn leak. I screwed the hose fitting as far as it would go, but no good. Seems that there are not enough threads on the filter side to allow a tight fit. I remember seeing a flat washer on the ground when I took out the old one and thought nothing of it. I'm guessing that it went in to the fitting to make a tight fit. The pump and filter seem to be standard regardless of brand. How do I make a tight fit or where do I buy the washer.

RE: Natchez trace

Just north of Natchez around an hour ( I think) is a restaurant called The Old Country Store Restaurant in Lorman MS., 18801 Hwy 61. As the name implies it is an old (very) country store turned into a restaurant. Truly nothing fancy checkered table cloths and all sorts of nick nack in the shelves along the walls. The food is buffet style and is delicous. Not to be missed is the fried chicken which is the best ever. We stopped several years ago and gorged our selves on food and desert for $40. The owner came to tables and chatted then broke into song with some of the staff. If you can try and stop, it's well worth it. We met a number of people along the trace that shared our enthusiasm.

Window reflections

Depending on the angle of the sun, reflections on the windshield and side windows make seeing out difficutlt at times. Windshield bad but not terrible however, the side windows can at times be terrible. Is there any solution to this problem? Night time with head lights etc is the worst. We have a 27 ft Winnebago Vista Class A.

F 53 alignment & steer safe

Bringing in our Winnebago on F53 chassis for aligment. Some where I read that caster/camber needs to be set different from Ford specs, is that right? Have a Steer safe do they go bad? Does not seem to be doing its job.

Water pump bracket replacement

The mounting bracket for the Artis water pump in our Winnebago literally fell apart. Do they make replacement brackets or do I need a whole new pump? If a new one, suggested replacement brand/model.

Coach battery replacement

Looking to replace the coach batteries. Do not do enough boondocking to justify AGM or lithium. Regular lead acid is fine. Suggestions on which brand seems the best appreciated. Might as well do the chassis battery as well. Gasser with Ford V-10. Suggestions?

Once things open up, thinking of heading to western NC for camping and tourist things. Any suggestions on what to see and where to stay. Prefer the less crowded tourist areas.

Generator questions

We have a 2015 Winnebago Vista. When the generator is not used for some time, like during the winter when it's used once a month, I have a problem. When I push the start button it sounds almost like it takes a bit to turn over. Sounds like a weak battery or stuck cylinder for the first crank. After that first one it has normal cranking sounds. If I start it later the same day or the next, it starts and sounds normal. Any idea what the cause of this might be? What battery is used to start the generator, coach or chassis? Batteries are about 5yrs old and are on charge when not being used. What's the typical life of the coach and chassis batteries?
