RE: abbreviation lookup or glossary

Ok, what is DW? The W is for wife. Pick anyone of the following: Dear, dang, ****, dopey, dumb, dead, dorky, da lovely. I would suggest you select the first one or the last one.

RE: Down Sizing

Load up the mh with your clothes, cups, glasses, dishes etc for two people or perhaps four if you plan to have guests, sheets towels, favorite pictures, computer / electronics, important financial and legal documents. Lock the storage area and leave. Come back in 6 months with a list of what you need and donate the rest to charity.

RE: Surge Protector - Hardwired without transfer switch?

If you don’t have a generator why do you think you need a transfer switch? Transfer between what? Just get a SP to sit between your 30 amp plug and the power source.

Gotta love American ingenuity or stupidity.

RE: Leveling Jack Pads/Slide Out Supports

Pads only needed if park says so, or on hot asphalt, soft sand/dirt. If you think you need them (or sakes guy says you need them) to support a slide then get slide/RV fixed/walk away.

RE: RV plywood cleaning stains and repair

Plywood won't warp. It may delaminate, but even that shouldn't happen. Use your favorite cleaning product, maybe even some bleach. Just don't saturate the wood. This….

RE: Help! A/C only works when below 100°

My advice is to call a RV AC technician.

RE: When to buy?

I’m not so sure about a glut of used ones. Manufacturers are working overtime to build new ones and are having issues getting parts and workers. It may turnout there may be a glut of new ones going unsold. I was told by Newmar when I wanted to replace the **** FlexSteel furniture they could not offer an estimate as the new supplier is so backlogged meeting existing orders they won’t consider making non warranty replacement units. It could also be we are seeing a significant shift in work environments. Many companies and workers alike have found out two things. One they can get by with fewer workers although some have gone a bit overboard (perhaps not by choice). Two, if people can work from home they can work anywhere. Add in more and faster buildout of nationwide 5G and little need to go into office. Major cities will feel the impact first. Add into that the current climate of workers being paid not to work, is putting pressure on small and medium businesses to modernize and automate. I’ve seen many chain restaurants building new facilities with drive thru / takeout only. A lot of people are distressed with the whole public school system now and pulling their kids out to either place them in private/parochial schools or home school. The latter being far better option than Zoom classes. As RVers oft say my home is where I park it. And lastly current and potentially longer lasting inflation making cost of regular houses unaffordable for many or most will force some to opt for an RV as their permanent abode. Just my thoughts, YMMV.

RE: Delays in camper buiddate

I’m waiting on dates for a cardiac ablation, back surgery. On a lighter note my golf club is waiting on new golf carts to replace existing ones but have been told due to supply chain issues, will be delayed with no new date provided.

RE: level on level ground and towing

Level while traveling as it relates to appliance is a non issue. In storage, unless you leave the RV fridge on being level a non issue, but try to park on level or near level ground.

RE: Hard surfaces and puppies question

Never heard of that either unless it has to do with letting their pads toughen up to handle the heat. Also have heard not to walk them long distances.

RE: Notify Moderator feature not working...?

It’s really sad that a organization such as CW can’t take the time to upgrade this forum. Make it easier, and w/o the need for a third party photo hosting site, to post pictures.

RE: Hot water in new 5er Montana

So are you looking for help on the wh ? Every new unit has issues regardless of brand and cost. Sad but true?

RE: Need help, hot water tank fail.

Sounds like a dual service Suburban. My understanding from the op - works while plugged into 110 and using the 110 heating side. Does not work while using the propane side of the wh. I suspect this is true whether plugged in to 110 or not. Sounds like there is gas at the wh as it burns as long as the igniter is operating. Get a new control board.

RE: Setting up a TOAD

Get a Roadmaster baseplate and the NSA Ready Brute elite towbar/brake.

RE: Wi if booster

Whatever you buy, you may be disappointed. A booster can help you get connected to a weak signal but it can't increase the total bandwidth available. And it looks like you're more interested in bandwidth to stream video. To the OP read this one again. My experience in many cases it’s not the WiFi signal strength. Most often it is the number of people trying to access an under powered WiFi access point, insufficient bandwidth none of which a WiFi booster will help. What might be a better option is to assure you have good cell service, perhaps with a cell signal booster, an unlimited service plan, and something else todo when all else fails.

RE: Must I have a toad with a 27' Class C?

For us, a toad is a must, regardless of mh size. Great for site seeing, going to the store without breaking camp. What made us go with a toad was a breakdown. Mh had to be towed to for a repair, wife had driven her car. MH went left to the repair shop we went right to our home. It takes 5-10 minutes to hook or unhook, but time well spent for peace of mind.

RE: Campground Rates

Weekends are popular especially for those that still work so they are going to demand a higher price. Lots of folks will come on Thursday and leave Sunday. We as retired, will book Friday thru Monday at our local SP to avoid the long lines at the dump station. But mostly book during the week. Travel today take planning, flexibility, and repeat one and two.
