RE: Host Cascade

We ordered the cascade. Loved our mammoth except found the bath door and placement a little off for us. However, I think the mammoth is the most popular Host out there so maybe it was just us that found it off putting. I had zero issues with Host quality and I know guys on here that have had them for a few years and they love them. I will be adding some more 6 Volt batts and an inverter when it shows up. I did not order a gen set because of experience with these in another TC. I will carry a portable one if we should need it. We use the TC more in the winter and the coach more in the summer. So even though I did order an AC unit on the TC it won't get a lot of use.

RE: Ship truck and camper to Hawaii

I got another email from a company and they will ship it over for $1450. What I want to do is stay for about 2 months to really look around. They do rent RV's there. But mostly class B's. Not really what we want. I guess I could ship my jeep over and figure out different hotels and air BnB. Not what I really wanted though. We do not want to stay in a tent, at least not for 2 or 3 months.

RE: Ship truck and camper to Hawaii

Just talked to a shipper. Roll on Roll off, truck is inside ship. Pre covid was $1000 out and slightly cheaper to come back. Now $1700 out and cheaper coming back. If we stayed for 5 or 6 weeks It would be worth it to me. Camper is another issue. I'm just starting to look into this. I'm not a hotel person. Stayed in to many of them flying for the USAF for 6 years. If I can't take the camper I would send my Jeep Wrangler. I would need a place to stay though.

Ship truck and camper to Hawaii

Cost?? 2021 Ram 5500 and Host cascade. I would prob have to separate them. I wonder if both would fit in same container. How would camper tie down, etc. Thoughts? Better to rent there, can you?? Shipping between islands?

RE: Tiffin or Fleetwood.

I actually owned a tiffin zephyr for 6 years. I was NOT impressed. I won't go into the issues we had other than the roof leaked. Yes, I got Bob on the phone, yes he said bring it to Red Bay. Yes I paid the bill and it still leaked. Yes I keep all of my coaches inside when not being used. After 6 years of this we sold it whole sale for a huge loss. I would look at condition First on both coaches rather than who built it. Go with the one that is in the best shape now.

RE: Used Tow Bar Values

I bought a road master sterling about 25 years ago. After 100k miles of towing I could see some wear on it. Shipped it to Road master under there warranty to always rebuild to like new for half the cost of a new one. They didn't have some parts I needed so they shipped me a brand new one. Still using it and when I hit another 100k I will send it in.

RE: Anyone making a reliable new truck now?

All the big 3 make a great truck. There are millions of them out there getting the job done everyday and you don't ever hear about it. Go buy and start having fun.

RE: Ordered Host cascade today

I didn't order any of those packages. I will prob put 6 6V batts in it with a 2k inverter and be done with it. I will also carry a small genset for back up if needed. It will be on a 21 Ram 5500 crew with 9.4 ft CM SK bed. Short fast guns to the steel rub rails. Rubber mat under it.

Ordered Host cascade today

We finished up the order on friday and I called this am to confirm. D&H then sent it off to the factory. I think it might be awhile but who knows. My wife really like the bathroom setup in the cascade. Looking forward to it.

RE: Host Cascade in service body

I thought about sherptek. Also I need to make sure the service body can handle the weight. My local CM dealer brought that up. He is trying to check with the factory. My 5500 will be almost the same from Ram. Just considering a different bed. lots of choices, no hurry. Were just sitting here for the last year and now were sitting in cold, ice, and snow.

Host Cascade in service body

Guys, I know there is a ton of knowledge on here. I just ordered a Ram 5500 60 CA. I would like to put a service body on it. Douglas is way out in CA, I am in PA. I'm looking at CM beds and they make one that may fit. It is 110 inches long and 49 inches inside. Storage on both sides. I'm concerned about fitting the camper in and getting it all the way forward, or most of the way. Tie downs, frame mounted, bed mounted, what are you guys doing. I also don't have the camper yet. Will be ordering this week or next. Lots of things to consider and I probable forgot some. Comments welcome and encouraged.

RE: New Palomino hard side 'solar ready'??

Where are the batteries in a 2902? I am thinking of one and I'm looking at a bunch of videos. I'm guessing under the sink, but not sure. Is there room to add more? How many does it come with?

RE: It’s been a good run

I have used the cheap 6V ones from sams for almost 30 years in 10 different RV's. Best bang for the buck. I don't ever do anything to them and I can get 5-6 years out of them. I also discharge them all the time. It works for me. If I need more power I will put in more. 6 6V in my last TC. Thinking about putting in 10 for my DP.

RE: Myrtle Beach Suggestions

Thanks all. Love the state park idea but the cabins are sold out most of the summer. I was shocked there were still a few RV sites open in the summer. Here in PA you need to book almost a full year out these days to even have a chance at a state park full hookup site. Thanks again. We will look through all of these. Thanks for the info. I just booked 4 nights in late April.
