RE: Tired Saturn Vue- what to get now?

If you like your Vue. Look at a Chevy Captiva. They are re-badged 2008 to 2010 Vue's. You will need a V6 to tow the weight you want. LT FWD or LTZ AWD models. They are only available from fleet sales. There are a lot of good used ones with low miles. I found a 2012 that was leased to a company and well taken care of. I would stay away from a rental like Hertz. Almost all parts except Chevy badged stuff is interchangeable with 08 to 10 Saturn Vue. Got a Base Plate from Blue OX. Same one as the Vue. My second choice for a vehicle was a Equinox or Terrain. But hard to find a good used one. New was way out of my price range.

Tired Saturn Vue- what to get now?

We have loved our Saturn Vue but it is getting long in the tooth and has been hauled all over. We need not only a Toad but something that can also tow an aluminum trailer and a side by side ATV - about 1800 lbs total. List in the new towing guide seems pretty short and sparse. Suggestions?

Tow Bars: Roadmaster vs Blue Ox vs Demco vs NSA Ready Brake

I just replaced my '04 Saturn Vue toad with a '13 Ford Focus Titanium HB. Even though I've been using a Roadmaster Falcon and an Even Brake, I will be replacing both. My quandry is which towbar to go with. I'm hoping to get enough feedback with both pros and cons of each brand before I make my final decision. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Malfunctioned brakes on a towed crv honda 2012

Well I must say Im a lot more cautious about towing now. Not sure what system will be the best. Even Honda won't help me with ideas for the 2012. I just may not use any kind of braking system just the tow bars or go back to the US Gear like I had on The Saturn Vue. I just got my Honda back today and everything seems okay now. I still have not heard from Blue Ox

RE: Malfunctioned brakes on a towed crv honda 2012

Thank you for that advise. I towed a saturn crv for 7 years with a unified tow brake from us gear and never had one single problem with batteries dying or brakes. I wish I still had that car but because of the milage on it decided to trade it in for the newer car. I just didn't put the same tow pkg on it because I didn't want to have to stop take out a fuse,go through the transmission steps, put the fuse back in etc. Sure wish I had chosen that way now.Don't you mean a Saturn Vue? I didn't know that Saturn built a CRV.

RE: readyBrute cable install.

I just had my mobile mechanic install the ReadyBrake on my Saturn VUE. I really felt uncomfortable drilling through the firewall. The target space behind the brake gave very little room between the many control lines. Instillation required working under the car to run and secure the ReadyBrake line. I no longer do "under the car", bending and creeping have become an exercise to be avoided. It took my guy all day, but we socialized a bit. He charged me for 3 hours labor, I felt the charge was more than reasonable. He's done work for me before and he does quality work, everything carefully secured, with much thought given to consequencial damage which may be caused by an emergency brakeaway. My thought is that a mechanic comfortable with your brand car will easily be able to route the cable for the ReadyBrake. Instillation is more about your car than it is about RV braking and towing. RE: 2012 Dinghy Towing Guide

MM... Find a good 2nd hand Saturn VUE with the V6AWD and you'll be good to go...Mine has been flawless when towing and I go 6 hours and then restart it again no issues.....I don't even pull the fuse...I intend to hold on to this toad until I kick up daisies...2nd choice is Suzuki Grand Vitara which I would buy 2 nd hand to escape depreciation...Of course, the best toad of all would be that white British TV set you keep in your garage..and last I heard, it did leak oil... :) LOL.. the old one does leak (48 yrs. old), they say they leaked on the showroom floor as they have weep holes......... the new one, not a drop. :p MM.

RE: 2012 Dinghy Towing Guide

The Ford Escapee transmission must be lowered to the MINIUMUN level not below safe levels and Ford does back up their warranty. If that's the case they should put it in writing!!! My Saturn Vue has 49K miles on the odometer and based on my MH mileage it has been towed an additional 40K miles. I don't even think about the transmission oil. OK, they don't make that car anymore. If I were to purchase a new car within the next year, and we have been thinking about it, it would be the Honda CRV. I'd rather purchase a Ford Escape, but not unless Ford permits towing in clear print. JMHO

Saturn Vue

I'm in the market for a dinghy and I've found a 2006 Saturn Vue with 50K miles at a very reasonable price. I see that many of the posters here tow a Vue with success. Some say you need to unhook a fuse to get things to operate correctly. This particular Vue has a manual transmission. Is the removal of the fuse required with manual transmission? Any comments/suggestions regarding the Vue as a TOAD would be appreciated.

RE: Dead Battery-Honda CRV

My battery would not start my Saturn Vue after 15 hours ,(1.5 days) of towing with the Brake Buddy. Installed a charge line from pin #4 to battery with a 20Amp breaker. No more problems. Siggy

Towing 2011 Tacoma manual tranny - tips please!

Bit the bullet, traded Saturn Vue for a Tacoma Access cab, 5 speed manual. Plan to flat tow it (Roadmaster) and hopefully put my motorcycle in back. With the Saturn I had to leave key in it to get it into Neutral, that step I guess is no longer needed, but what about the fuse I had to pull out on the saturn? Is there one on the Tacoma? Will I be registering miles while towing? How do I make sure the brake & turn lights get power without headlights being on or other battery draining options? Any tips would be gratefully appreciate.

RE: '08 Saturn Vue Battery

Sorry if I'm being slow, but is this a problem unique to the Saturn Vue? Why would mileage accumulate while the ignition is on accessory? Or did the OP have the ignition turned on ON rather than ACC? I have friends just about to setup a Vue for towing...which is why I ask. We will check on this before we get the charging wire connected on the Vue. If this is the case, then we will get the fuse disconnect switch. Thanks for the heads up! Fuse Bypass Switch

RE: '08 Saturn Vue Battery

Hello All, I do not mean to hijack your post, but, I am hgetting ready to tow a 2008 Saturn Vue ( I have installed the baseplate, but not the wiring yet) anyhow, can I use a battery disconnect switch to do the same thing? Any how, any advice for a newbie? Thankks in advance, Rick
