Jeff Gordon Named #2 at Hendrick
Looks like Mr. H has anointed the heir
apparent. Didn't know Jeff had an ownership interest in the entire operation. Congratulations to Jeff.

Copied and paste.
Gordon, along with Rick Hendrick, co-owns the No. 48 Chevrolet previously driven by Jimmie Johnson, who won seven Cup championships from 2006 to 2010, 2013, and in 2016. Gordon also has an equity stake in the No. 24 team.

The ultimate Golden horse shoe. How do you get a high horsepower car up to speed with only 4th gear and not get run over on restarts????? I believe him when he said the clutch was fried but man that's a wheelman there......

In his post race interview he said that he laid well back on restarts and timed it to be at speed when he caught the pack. Heck of a job making do with what you have to work with.

Whenever the clutch is 'fried' it usually causes the clutch to fail to engage. I took it to mean that the transmission was first stuck in 4th gear, and he deliberately had to 'slip' the clutch in order to get going during the restart. And, this caused the overheating of the clutch. but it held long enough to finish the race. I agree that Kyle Busch is one of the great Nascar drivers, but sometimes great drivers run into some good luck.

It finally happened. It took the son of humble Bill from Dawsonville to say it. When asked what made him so good on road courses, he credited the car.

If you have a faster car and your a competent driver, you'll usually win.
Does anyone disagree with that?

Not disagree, but it only takes one tiny mistake to lose a race.
And faster car is a subtle definition. Faster where?
In the turns?
Accelerating out of the turns?
Better and deeper braking?
Cubic inches won't win a race. It might give you an edge. But the driver still has to be perfectly in tune with the car.
Cubic dollars helps more.
Chase had very, very good cars, and he knows how to give his team feedback to help them tune it to be better.
But he also has the talent and reactions right now.
And in two or five years, that will change. Someone else will be the road course ace.

Given the situation at NH yesterday I must commend Kyle B for staying out of trouble during his interview after his car was trashed.
