Most of these CG are quite expensive. Anyone know of something off the beaten path for around $40 in September?

Sept. Is still prime camping in Gettysburg $40.00 won't get it done.
Gettysburg is not off the beaten path it is the beaten bath.
Touristy destination areas are never the most economical places to camp.

Just another option. We stayed at the KOA which is just a few miles from the park. Very friendly, clean.

X2 This was one of our yearly stops when we lived in the area. The KOA in Gettysburg is very clean and they used to have a pretty spectacular pancake breakfast on the weekends (I'm sure they still do).

You are probably not going to find $40 unless you are Coast-to-Coast or Passport.

We stayed there on our first visit to Gettysburg. It is convenient to town and to the battlefield visitor center, but we will stay elsewhere. It is nice enough, but the spots are not very level and the road was pretty rough when we were there. We visited in November and there was not a lot going on.
Looking forward to new adventures and new friends.

Artillery Ridge is a Passport America participant and that can save you money. We ride bicycles right to the battlefield from there.

Your not going to find anything in the area I don't think for that rate, Gettysburg is about the best however there is a KOA near the Gettysburg C G. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!

https://drummerboycampresort.com/

This is a nice place. We have stayed here a few times. Right off route 15.

Gettysburg Campground that was linked is nice also. We have stayed there a few times also.

DrummerBoy and Gettysburg campground are the best. Not Gettysburg campground "Resort".

There are 7 campgrounds in the area.

We like Gettysburg Campground when we go to Gettysburg. Site roads are a bit narrow towards the back, but always have a great time there. Owners are hands on & great to talk to.

We just left there yesterday. Sites are pretty large ( we are 43' plus a toad). Pool, mini-golf, weekend activities - No cable tv
It's right down the road from the park visitor center.
