Several camper insurance questions

I see this site offers rv Sams insurance

How do most of you pick your roadside insurance
Are you comfortable with what the likes of
State Farm, Progressive, and others that offer road side bundled
In side the full camper coverage.

Or do you like the Sams like coverage better

I shop insurance every year, compare rates with several companies.

Good Sam and Coachnet are the two companies who specialize in RV roadside coverage insurance. Never go with the basic level of roadside insurance, always go with the top level. It's really a cost decision. You will end up with the same tow truck company, the same arrival time no matter which company you choose, or if you take roadside coverage from a company like Progressive. Good Sam currently uses Allstate for their roadside coverage processor.

Coachnet does have some RV specific advantages in my opinion, specifically having RV maintenace specialists available to help you deal with a problem.

As stated above - a great many people don't have roadside coverage, a greater many do. It's a matter of personal choice.

Companies are in the insurnace business to make money. If they don't make more money on moste people's coverage, they don't stay in business.

My father always told me that all insurance is a bet you make against yourself that you hope to never win.

It depends on what you may need towed. If it's a travel trailer, the coverage may already be in your policy included on the vehicle you pull it with. If it's a motorhome - we have Coachnet. We would rather deal with someone who knows what they are doing with a big coach vs a small wrecker that regular insurance may send.

We have Good Sam, have never had to use it and hopefully will never need it, but we have it if needed.

I don't buy ANY road side ins. I have towing ins on my vehicles but that's all.
In 40 years of driving and 30 years of RVing I have needed a tow exactly once. Cost was about $300.
RA is a money maker for those companys. Skip it and save your money and you'll be many thousands of $$$ ahead over your life time - even if you end up paying at some point.
