Tesla does not have a "self driving" Semi nor do they even have a "self driving" car.

Nor does anybody else for that matter.

Okay, you get first prize for the most application of popular buzz words/phrases. LOL

I think the word disrupting is overused in this context. But what Tesla is doing is forcing other manufacturers to look into or develop EV vehicles. Simply out of fear of losing market share. Next year Tesla will sell more than half a million vehicles without a gas tank. Not a huge number. But that is half a million vehicles that BMW, Mercedes, Audi, GM, Ford etc etc lost sales to. There is a market. It’s up to the manufacturer if they feel it is important or not.

True
VW Group is investing 60 billion Euros in EV's and hybrids. They say they will launch 75 EV's and 60 hybrids by 2029.

That's pretty interesting. I wonder what the total cost of added software, cameras, lidar, etc. totaled. Pretty cool though, if it really worked as described.

I do believe this was a standard diesel powered truck, not an EV.

You are correct.

Of course there is no Semi at all. (yet)

My comment should have been "Tesla is not the only company working on an assisted driving semi with a goal of going driverless eventually"

Full size Tesla blows the doors off a Mustag GT in a 1/4 mile drag race !

You really have to be careful when comparing or posting those videos. I've been following the Tesla Racing Channel since its inception. That kid is smart and a good racer. But that Tesla is the "raven" edition that has been stripped down to almost nothing. The biggest thing is, that kid *does* lose occasionally to faster ICE cars.

Electric motor instant torque gets him off the line fast. That guy he raced in the video did not get off the line fast at all. I have seen videos where the ICE car comes back and just kicks the Tesla's behind.

We can all agree that Tesla stripped down racing edition in the video is fast with little modification. The other thing he used to complain about was that he could only do 8-9 passes without worrying about the range to drive the car home. I think he solved that by just trailering the Tesla to the track [emoticon]

Keep looking at some of his street racing videos. There's a few where he loses off the line. Fun to watch.

So does anybody know what "1/4 mile record" exactly means?

I can say that with my car too. I set personal records all the time. Is that what that means?

If so; LOL

Yes, disrupting is the thinking outside the box contributing to the paradigm shift in the core competency we are looking for. Of course Tesla's laser focused game plan is a real game changer. Causing the automotive executives to take a deep dive approach to alternative energy that is directionally accurate. These are really exciting times. [emoticon] [emoticon]

Wow.

Do we want to cascade this information down our functional line?

Yes, exactly. He beat his own personal "Tesla" Record.

Edit: I forgot to mention his own "Patches" car turbo Mustang is running fairly well too, although he tends to focus on anything that makes him win [emoticon]

2nd edit: Added a video with a no prep race, he lost that one bigtime.

Still a chance Tesla will become the Betamax of electric vehicles if they don't start producing. While they promote one off prototypes like the semi or pickup others are actually selling vehicles.
