I have a recently puchased 2007 HR Ambassador 40STK (23870 mi.) that has an XtraRide service contract that is about to expire mid November. Can I get zome opinions from seasoned HR owners as to whether or not I should purchase another 4 year bumper to bumper contract. Most evrything is working fine at this time. I will likely put 5 to 10K on it each year with 3 to 4 months use.
Thats for your opinions.

I purchased a three year XtraRide Platinum Extended Service contract when I purchased my motorhome two years ago (the motorhome is now ten years old). I've gotten full value of the price of the contract as my dash A/C needed repair (compressor, expansion valve and low pressure hose replacements), a slide-out controller failed, the front trac bar had to be replaced (worn-out bushings) and sway bar bushings had to be replaced. XtraRide was very good at authorizing and paying for these repairs.

wow hard to beat that never heard of a contract that pays for parts that are simply worn out

Dennis, I am glad you have been happy with your extended warranty plans. However, I will tell you the damage from the lightening strike and the tire blow out would have been covered by your comprehensive insurance on your RV, so that just leaves the A/C unit that was covered by that "warranty." How much did you pay for the warranty, and how much did it cost to replace. I bet you lost money.

If everyone received more in repair costs than they paid for an extended warranty, those companies would go bust. The odds are not in anyone's favor, just like a casino.

Some of the damage was NOT covered by comprehensive. I tried to deal with both companies as I was hoping one would pay the deductible. Nope, comp wouldn't cover 'acts of God'. Anyway, I also had the rear end drop a cog on the diff. XtraRide covered it with no questions asked. That alone was over $4k. You would have lost your bet...:W....Dennis

I had a 2 yr contract from Xtraride on my Exec when I bought it. It paid for itself in that time period. When it expired, I bought a 4 yr contract from Wholesale Warranties. It was well worth the money, if for no other reason but for peace of mind. That said, Xtraride is a dealer ONLY item. You won't be able to purchase a contract directly thru them any longer. I used it when I had a lightning strike near my coach. Took out the middle A/C unit, an air pump, the transfer switch, microwave etc. They were terrific and worked hand in hand with Monaco for the repair. You'll get some on here that will tell you it's a waste of money, put the money in a separate savings acct, yada yada yada. I had a blowout in Florida and the warranty covered the cost completely including the new tire. They also replaced my A/C unit when we were in Cape Canaveral. Done at the campground. Again, for peace of mind if you can't, or don't want to do any of the repairs yourself, it's money well spent....Dennis
